The Sudden Unexpected Death
A scent, black and dark as death.
Initially shocking, frightening, until it embraces you and you realize that the nature of death is not evil. This realization leads to complete calm, security, acceptance.
Sweet memories in floral form rise up, reminding one of the beautiful times in life, and then the path of the soul finds peace. In such a friendly and relaxing drydown, which one would never have expected in the top note.
The top note is characterized by intense dark fragrance notes, a lot of oud with a good portion of animalic. A wild and loud start that becomes softer and rounder, until the darkness gently envelops you completely.
The whole play becomes creamy/resinous and is really beautifully balanced. It has something soothing, meditative; you come to rest nicely, linger in the moment, and eagerly follow the development.
First lightly, then increasingly stronger, the floral notes emerge, marked by rose. A dance unfolds, where the lead between the dark oud and the floral notes constantly shifts back and forth. Then the darkness slowly recedes, very slowly it pulls back. Green notes from vetiver come to the fore, followed by gentle vanilla, various woods,...
The drydown reminds me of a beautiful natural landscape, an open valley completely untouched by human influence.
The scent has very good longevity and a very long fragrance progression. Highly complex, depending on the temperature, new impressions always emerge. The listed ingredients are just a small glimpse to get an idea; this scent has so much to discover. It is a master of transformation, a masterpiece by Frederic!
