Multi-layered, woody-ambered, and dominant rose scent but the """worst""" Nebiru for me
First of all: Talking about "bad" here shouldn't trigger anyone too much. It is undisputed that Frederic's perfumes are small masterpieces and everything is of the highest quality. Nevertheless, the Rosa Sequoyah is the """worst""" of the 5 I have tested so far.
The scent starts after spraying with a citrus-ambered floral note or (May) rose and fruitiness. The mandarin and also the orange in floral form become clearly noticeable after 10 minutes.
After 30 minutes, the Rosa Sequoyah gets a strong musk note added to the dominant, ambered rose. If you have tried the Kenshitora, you will immediately recognize the deer musk fingerprint :-)
An hour has passed since spraying, and the musk is already pulling back a bit. A marked, resinous sweetness with a room-filling rose remains in the foreground. A bit woodier and slightly earthy notes are slowly emerging from their hiding places.
After 2 hours, the citrus makes a brief comeback for me. If you were to go by the ingredients, you might wonder "Why do you smell something citrusy?!", but on my skin, that's just how it is :>
The resinous rose is accompanied by a pleasant creaminess - however, it is this moment of the scent that I do not like so much. Not because I am less fond of iris, but because the creaminess of the iris(butter) "envelops" the rose. This significantly softens it, making it rather """boring""" and generic at that point.
This subsides after 3 hours, and the drydown is a warm-spicy rose bouquet on a sweet wooden base. It carries this into hour 4 as well, but you can notice how the rose becomes increasingly softened and weaker. It is a light rose with resinous-sweet or ambered wood becoming clearly more noticeable.
After 6 hours, the roses have disappeared from my skin or are no longer significantly present. It is primarily a muted, sweet wooden base that has settled on my skin.
This DNA continues for the next 3-4 hours, so that the drydown from hour 5 develops into a pleasant, sweet-resinous (sandal)wood. In fact, one of the few quite straightforward, simple Nebiru drydowns, which also somehow makes it a cuddly scent :D
After about 10 hours, the ambered sandalwood perfume came to an end.
#######
Conclusion:
As provocatively titled at the beginning, the Rosa Sequoyah is the weakest Nebiru for me, especially considering the price.
I am fully aware (!), that with the selection of exquisite roses, the perfume could not have been made cheap at all. However, there was this creaminess in hours 2-3 that took the breath away from the roses and from which they could not recover. The entire rose note that runs through the perfume and the 'experience' is a rather mild, light rose. Reserved, but always strongly present due to its quality and dosage.
This type of rose I welcome "rather"; the overwhelming rose in an Alexandria II Parfum or the stale afternoon rose water in L'Homme À la Rose are, for example, very hard for me to connect with.
For lovers of the highest quality rose scents looking for a long-lasting, amber-sweet (sandal)wood base, it will be an absolute go-to.
In my case, there was no "Nebiru fanboy moment" ;-)
