From Taxi Plates, Discord Exclusives, and a Sweet-Gourmand Side of Frederic's ;-)
Nebiru's first sweet-gourmand fragrance and winter special is here! With "Sugarwood | Nebiru Parfvms," Frederic is taking new paths, similar to his first chypre "Antique | Nebiru Parfvms," and this one is again a successful start into new territory!
• Spraying:
The Sugarwood kicks off with a true "slap" of amaretto, almond, bubble-gum cherry, vanilla peaks, and a hefty dose of tonka bean. The scent is a real showstopper - sillage is definitely present!
• After 15 minutes:
The squeaky cherry synthetic calms down, becoming spicier, even slightly "nose-tingling." The alcohol spice comes through now, accompanied by a (still?) subtle rose and strawberry.
• After 30 minutes:
I am somewhat surprised: The (synthetic) cherry, which was completely on steroids just 30 minutes ago, actually had a brief but intense appearance. The cherry has become significantly more subdued, no longer taking center stage. In fact, it is primarily the spice of the alcohol, which is moving forward with clove or nutmeg?! The whole thing is enveloped in vanilla. The tonka bean is now really kicking in. It will also be omnipresent as we go on.
• After 1.5 hours:
Little change - everything has just become a bit "paler" in the last hour.
Alcohol recedes, everything becomes sweeter, creamier, and fluffier.
• After 2.5 hours:
dry-dusty spice, slight sweetness, and warm ambry. The cherry synthetic is now only subtly in the background. Especially between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, it has, in my opinion, the most beautiful DNA and exudes a lovely "fruity winter" charm.
• After 3.25 hours:
Longevity has significantly decreased. Sillage is now very close to the body. It is still shining brightly on clothing, but has faded on the skin. Sugarwood is now an airy cherry jam with a hint of spice and rounded off by ambry tonka bean.
• After 5 hours:
The cherry is now just a faint breeze on a fading tonka bean bed. One suspects that "closing time" is approaching, or it could be very close to the skin.
• After 7 hours:
As suspected after 5 hours, it has been "finito" for about 30-45 minutes. Everything has just become paler. A calm drydown can still reveal a sweet, vanilla-amber cherry breeze on the skin.
#######
Conclusion:
Completely new tones from the house of Nebiru Parfvms!
Yes - the typical Nebiru DNA is harder to recognize here.
Yes - the cherry is more synthetic, but that's just how it is scientifically.
Yes - one gets slight associations with the Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum line :D
Although I am not a huge gourmand fan, I enjoyed the Sugarwood. The Christmas special release exclusively for Discord members is a no-brainer at €130 for 30ml.
