If you want figs, you must be friendly
Why do you test & comment on fragrances that you cannot approach objectively due to notes you don't like? Does this really help potential buyers? Doesn't it just annoy & distort? Shouldn't you focus your time, motivation & effort on fragrances that suit you better?
These questions I have to keep asking myself & I also ask myself - for example, when it comes to fig as here. But again and again with a clear answer: of course I can comment on them, because at Parfumo it has always been about personal, quite subjective impressions. And maybe my assessment helps other fig opponents. Besides: miracles happen again & again & I’m still waiting for the fig lid to come to me as a pot.
"Sous le Figuier" is the fig interpretation from the Stuttgart Schlossparfumerie. And the fig is really presented here in all its "splendor" - from the green-fresh leaf to the sultry flower to the dry wood. All fig, all not my thing. And yet, it’s a damn stylish, extensive treatment of the juicy-green theme. When here & there fruitier blackcurrant notes are struck in my head, I smile. But at the latest when the jasmine of the already sweaty fruit/plant chokes the air, I feel similarly. But for those who like figs, there’s a little insider tip & all-rounder here. Creamy, fresh, fruity, green - all facets seem evenly balanced. It doesn’t quite reach the reference "Philosykos" by Diptyque, but it can still be worn.
Bottle: not worthy of any palace
Sillage: subtle & very pleasant... if you like figs.
Longevity: 4 hours were in it.
Conclusion: a creamy fig pleaser that clearly loses its direct duel with the classic "Marc Jacobs Man" or even fruitier alternatives like "L'eau Mixte". Plus my inherent aversion to figs.... sorry :/
