Sandalwood from Carpo's Hand
The best Creed that isn't one & doesn't really smell like a specific one? Yes, I fully agree with Bertel. "Imperial Santal" is one of the most beautiful, freshest & brightest sandalwood fragrances I have ever had the pleasure of smelling. For me, the most usable scent from the Stuttgart Castle Perfumery. I could wear it every day & almost make it my signature. Sometimes sandalwood can be annoying - not here at all. This scratchy-sweet wood needs to be brightened up, given such a noble summer look. Refined with grapefruit, moss & musk. In perfect balance. Everything is clearly definable & detectable. Like a "Original Santal" Sport or Fresh.

An elegant all-rounder & a blend that you don't come across every day. To be honest, never. Additionally, it is outstanding in price for the finest quality & good performance. There is hardly anything to criticize here. If I could choose a fragrance from the Stuttgart masters - this choice would be concluded. Anyone who likes sandalwood must test this one under all circumstances. An undiscovered masterpiece - or at least very close. It has rekindled my old love for the often somewhat temperamental wood. Great cinema, deep feelings, revivable every day. Sandalwood in summer - Next Level Sh*.

Bottle: doesn’t have to be ornate... but this is quite simple
Sillage: always works, never hurts
Longevity: lasts a solid 5-7 hours

Conclusion: the best sandalwood for every day? Almost aquatic, almost Creed, almost too beautiful to be true! Wonderful!

I Would Love to Smell This on a Man
Since I even received a small sample in a travel spray, I had to test it. Since my husband is not into perfumes, I just sprayed it on myself.
My first thought was, yes, it is a men's fragrance. To be honest, I didn't notice any citrus notes. For me, it was immediately masculine and robust. But in a very pleasant way. It also had a quite noticeable sillage at first. After a relatively short time, it became slightly woody, and I could smell the vetiver. After about 3-4 hours, it turned warm, but still in a way that felt masculine to me.
My conclusion: yes, I would really love to smell this on a man. It may not be anything new, probably even resembles well-known fragrances, but that doesn't bother me. I find it absolutely suitable for everyday wear for men.

Creedallef
As explicitly stated on the packaging, the Schlossparfümerie Stuttgart (known to niche fragrance enthusiasts) has this and other scents produced by M. Micallef in France.

Micallef, with their "Private Line," which is the part of their production where fragrances are made to order for clients (this refers to B2B clients, not to be confused with the Bespoke Line), is, if I'm correctly informed, one of the market leaders. It is not uncommon for the fragrances to have a certain recognizability - even "Imperial Santal" for the Schlossparfümerie is identical to "Imperial Santal" from the "Micallef Studio" line, except for one component in the base. Unfortunately, I do not have this scent on hand, just like "Santal Impérial," the great inspiration for Creed, and therefore cannot make a direct comparison at this time. (I hope to remedy this soon)

The opening of the Schlossparfümerie version of "Imperial Santal" features plenty of synthetic citrus notes in medium mainstream quality, with quite a strong sillage; I can interpret bergamot and grapefruit with some effort, but I do not recognize any natural scent impressions or memories from "real life." This also applies to the following heart note, where the fragrance takes on a distinctly greener and light woody character, still quite loud and synthetic, while I perceive patchouli rather subtly. In the base, the scent then shifts to a beige-green-creamy tone, still quite light but very reconciliatory.

The surprising thing is: this fragrance works surprisingly well in its woodcut-like, rough, and jagged amalgamation! The citrus-bright aura radiates, the woody sandal aspect shines through clearly and is well perceivable, and the green component enhances the experience - a bright, radiant, friendly, and very present scent that immediately calls out "Creed!!" to me, which is quite sympathetic, open, and joyful. The target audience is, in my perception, clearly the Creed clientele, and the bright, clear, citrus-sharp, direct, and often loud yet always open and precise language of these fragrances speaks "Imperial Santal" fluently, without a strong accent and surprisingly adeptly. Those who like Creed fragrances (and there are very many...) should definitely pay attention to this significantly cheaper clone (85€ per 100ml). As a Creed detractor, I am not the target audience, but I can certainly recognize and appreciate the appeal.

Very beautiful sandalwood scent. No wonder, after all, Jean Claude Astier is the man behind the fragrance. Very nice but a bit linear.

A comforting sandalwood scent. Not too citrusy, nicely warm and woody. Medium longevity. Unfortunately!

Bright-fresh scent, citrusy, green, and woody, that is affordable despite its niche level and is well-received everywhere. Great!
