Base Notes: Cedarwood, Vetiver, Benzoin, Musks*, Amber

The journey with Zoologist continues...

Of course before actually trying Zoologist, I read a few reviews, but only for T-Rex, Hyrax, Bee and Cow. The rest of the line remains an exciting mystery that I will slowly discover. I like surprises!

From what I have read, many feel that Cow is reminiscent of shampoo, bath products or some unknown cleaner. Not my vision of a cow, but fair enough. I have also heard that some people got the scent profile of an apple candy which really excited me, but as we know, chemistry can make or break a fragrance.

On the first spray, the scent was very light and unassuming. The first notes which came through for me were apple, green grass mixed with milk. Simple. Within the first ten minutes Lily of the Valley came to the forefront adding a slight sweet floral note.

After an hour, Cow morphed into a sweet grassy scent with a slight hint of apple, the milk note long disappeared. The other thing which disappeared was the scent. From the beginning, the sillage was a bit poor. The scent was never really that detectable in general, but after around 1.5 hours, this was a complete skin scent if even that. Cow did last longer on clothing, but was mostly a bitter green, grassy scent, no sweetness or milk to be found.

Though Cow was a very comforting scent much like a warm hug, it was a hug that you wish would last longer but was cut too short. The sillage and longevity was not there which to me makes it a no go as far as buying in the future. Even if the strength was a bit better, I don't feel that the scent is unique enough to justify the price tag, at least for me.

If you are new to Zoologist, this would definitely fall into the "safe" category. Nobody is going to recoil from this fragrance unlike T-Rex. But for me, maybe it's a bit too safe? Though I feel Cow somewhat captures the landscape of where a lone cow may wander, my grandparents owned a cow farm, and this was not the first scent profile I would imagine. That being said, it's probably safer than the reality which leans more toward my experience with Camel. This one wasn't quite as special as some of the other offerings.

I would give Cow a 4. The fragrance is nice enough, but not as unique as I would like. Also, the sillage and longvity are something to be desired.

Onto the next!
