The opening is very aromatic and a bit vegetal from the clary sage (and maybe carrot?) which I’m not a huge fan of, however while the clary sage never really goes away it eventually recedes and allows the other notes to come through. I don’t find the pepper overwhelming here as it can be in some scents. The bergamot and florals are very soft, none really stand out. Eventually it dries down to a soft milky sandalwood and tea, just a little sweet, with a whisper of spice.
The dry down reminds me a lot of
Oxygène (perhaps unsurprising as it shares almost all of Oxygene’s notes), but significantly less floral and more aromatic.
I wouldn’t compare this at all to earl grey or a London fog, the citrus is hardly noticeable and there’s no vanilla.
I also don’t really get any distinct carrot notes or carrot cake scent. At times there is something “rooty” to me which may be the carrot, the orris, or both. I do think I sense a bit of dusty earthy orris but it isn’t prominent.
It’s also got pretty good lasting power and I could still smell it on a sweater days later, even through another perfume sprayed over it.
