Layton - a new chapter
In my younger years, Hugo Boss was my signature and daily fragrance for a long time. Of course, there were a few other scents here and there. But not many - and not often.

I still like it, but I particularly think of the early versions from the 90s. Fruity, spicy, and a bit sweet, yet fresh and light enough not to be annoying. It was perfect for me back then, especially since it wasn't loud or intrusive. And the apple as a central theme.

But how do I come to Layton now? Of course, it doesn't remind me directly of Hugo. I only became aware of it late through the general trend, influencers, and Parfumo. Initially through the well-known dupes. Nevertheless, it wasn't the hype that excited me, but this special DNA. And again, to bring it back a bit - the apple as a relevant component.

No fragrance has captivated me since then. It is the proverbial "king" of my collection, even ahead of Naxos and others. For me, it works similarly to how Hugo did back then: it is distinctive but not intrusive or unpleasant. Sweet, fruity, woody, spicy - suitable for almost all occasions. And still outstanding.

Somehow, it is also mass-appealing, which doesn't bother me. The overall presentation is also not off-putting. A serious flacon in dark blue, with a heavy silver cap. Masculine and not playful, as is often seen these days. Financially, the overall package is just about acceptable for me. But compared to that, Hugo is already more affordable...

Currently, I don't have a signature scent, as I like to switch fragrances often and frequently. But if I had to choose one, it would probably be Layton at the moment (or at least - for purely monetary reasons - this DNA).

Outgrowing one, fond of another. The apple remains, as a connecting element and thus a constant in this journey.

Winter Dream
It is already dark autumn. Today is an early Christmas party, later it will be hard to find free dates. For dinner, we meet in a traditional, rustic inn.

In between, you need a short break from all the hustle and bustle. The stairs lead down to the basement. It is clean down there, but has seen better days. Everything is brightly tiled, with a few gaps and cracks here and there. The windows are tilted open, the heating is off, and it is noticeably cool.

In front of the restrooms, a few standing tables are waiting. One of them is free, and you take the opportunity for a quick cigarette. Two tables over, an older gentleman is smoking a cigarillo, the distinctive aroma wafts through the foyer.

Before heading back up, you quickly wash your hands. On the sink, there is a soap dispenser labeled "Milk & Honey," next to it a room spray "Vanilla Magic." A bit of it still lingers in the cold air.

As you climb the stairs back up, you trail a peculiar blend of various scent notes behind you. You can already hear your colleagues laughing - the mood is good.

Sweet Pepper
The Moustache by Rochas is almost unavoidable when you delve into the world of perfume. So it is no longer a "hidden gem."

Indeed, it is a sweet-spicy fragrance, where the pepper initially stands out very clearly. There has been no perfume so far in which I have perceived such an authentic pepper note.

However, the pepper blends very well with the mandarin and the sweet components, benzoin and vanilla. It spontaneously reminded me of those sage throat lozenges. Of course, not explicitly sage, but that sweet-bitter overall impression.

Moustache is thus an exciting and unusual, yet pleasant perfume. Masculine, not particularly youthful, but also not old-fashioned or dusty. It fits well in the autumn, and I will also wear it at work. I find the sillage and longevity to be rather moderate.

The ribbed flacon with the golden-yellow color of the perfume and the heavy cap comes across as very classic and elegant. I really like it.

And the price-performance ratio also fits into the positive overall picture. Therefore, in conclusion from me: thumbs up!

The White Vest
Here we have the well-known and also popular clean guy from Montblanc.

I became aware of it through various recommendations. Not only was the scent highlighted, but also the very good price-performance ratio. You can get 200ml for a mid-range two-digit amount.

And what can I say? Yes - you can't go wrong with this EDT! At least if you're looking for a fresh companion for work and everyday life. For very special moments, it might be a bit inconspicuous. And it doesn't come across as particularly high-quality. It's better than pure drugstore goods or shower gel, but not too far off from that.

At the beginning, it has a nice citrus-fresh, but also somewhat synthetic note, although I don't specifically smell grapefruit. Added to this are the aquatic notes and also the spices with pepper, lavender, musk, and wood. I don't find it particularly sweet, so it's not too close to Invictus/Aqua or Hawas. However, there are definitely parallels. The progression is quite linear for me, although over time the woody tones become more pronounced, but not significantly.

Overall, the scent is very positive, not unpleasant or overpowering at all. It fits well for me in the office or also for sports. Just the bottle with its clean white and elegant silver immediately conveys a feeling of purity and cleanliness - the refreshment begins in the mind!

Sillage and longevity are naturally a bit weak for such a freshie. Here and there you catch a whiff of it again, but over a workday it gradually disappears. So if you have something planned for the evening, it's better to reapply.

In summary, with Legend Spirit you get a good and affordable EDT for a broad target audience (both young and old), which should work in many situations. Therefore, I give it my full approval!

Not Very Regal
Based on the color scheme of the bottle/EDT and the cap, you can quickly recognize the inspiration here.

And the top note also clearly reminds one of the real king. Unfortunately, it comes across here as very one-dimensional and overpowering, which I don't really like. Blood orange with juniper, a bit sharp for me. I don't perceive amber at all, so why this name!?

I must say that I'm not a particular fan of D&G either; I just wanted to take a chance on this for the small price.

Sillage and longevity are quite decent for La Rive. Those who like the crown might find something to enjoy here, especially since the price is very reasonable. However, for me, it was still more of a misstep.

Oh yes, the EDT attacks the golden color at the edge of the sprayer on my bottle and dissolves it. In this regard, it's even a corrosive scent.
