Xerjoff has long been an unwritten piece of paper for me. Just like Roja once was. Especially in my early days, I avoided the really big scents. This was partly due to my respect for the fragrance itself and also because of the numerous reviews, which are mostly positive to very positive. Looking back, it was absolutely outrageous, because fair reviews count here and I could not contribute anything bad. I wanted to find the hair in the soup, but I didn't manage to do it and that although I really tried hard. And THAT only because this one should not be on the wish list.
I don't care anymore. The smell is really good, really, really good. That reads sund can also be read and recognized by the previous comments.

It's getting colder now. Surely such a scent would suit you particularly well. The oriental-woody flair is very inviting. Balsamic notes make it wonderfully wearable and not intrusive. I appreciate that very much about fragrances. Not too loud, but not too quiet either. This special compromise and strength. This makes them versatile, both at work and in everyday life itself.

The star in this ensemble is clearly the amber. There's no need to hide that. And the rest is placed around it, knowing that Amber sets the tone, but also knowing that without her as the other components Amber would never shine like this. To represent this so extremely harmoniously is great art and undoubtedly very difficult. It's like Sweetsmell: it's a complex fragrance, but it follows a clear line. No big surprises are needed here.

At the beginning, as already described, the amber is in the foreground. A bit bitchy at the beginning myrrh is added. The scent seems a bit peculiar and bulky here and only becomes a bit calmer when cedar wood joins in.
Here the fragrance is undoubtedly good, but it still lacks the decisive harmony that ultimately makes it so special and balanced. When the top note has settled a bit and guaiac wood becomes noticeable, it becomes more balsamic and spicy. I like this development, as it turns the fragrance upside down a bit.
Since real highlight actually follows in the base. I am a great friend of vanilla in fragrances, especially in combination with sandalwood. The fragrance itself gets a noticeable sweetness, but no obtrusive and annoying, but well-dosed nuances, they fit in wonderfully here. Through the interplay with amber, which is still the center of attention, the fragrance gets a great depth and smells so exceptionally engaging. The initially spicy, but somewhat creaky impression now becomes creamier, lulling. Completion of a great fragrance concept.

The shelf life is good. But I expect the same from a fragrance in the price range. The projection and the perception are also very neat, well balanced between: I'm always there, but actually only for you. I give the rest a little sample of myself, but still belong only to you!
I think this way of Xerjoff is great (regardless of whether it is intended or not). It is not obtrusive and yet always there and the full 12 hours.

For this winter, however, the ordered filling must be sufficient. Xerjoff has already disappointed me. For this reason and also because I want to test it in combination with Star Musk. I hope that the sharing will work. If it works, I will certainly be one more candidate to buy! :)

The most difficult time in our lives is the best opportunity to develop inner strength
I'd be lying if I said we're not in a bad spot. The pandemic around Corona is pushing many people to their limits and solidarity in our society is rarely as important as it is now.
I rarely quote great personalities when it comes to describing a perfume, but Dalei Lama sums it up for me and Habit Rouge is a fragrance that metaphorically does justice to the quote.

For me the fragrance embodies inner strength, a return to old traditions and values. It doesn't forget the importance of the present, it cultivates it in its prudence. Creates a context. It has character, a character that is still relevant after so long. It is the anchor point of inner strength and calm in difficult times, letting the world stand still. A fragrance that inspires reflection, promoting the values and norms of the wearer. Without forgetting his own.

I tested Habit Rouge ages ago and despite my young age I certify it as a cultural asset as I see it in Pour Monsieur by Chanel. A historical milestone in the fragrance industry
It's a fragrance you wear when times are tough. Retreating, trying to remember old strength and want to switch off.
Here classic meets modern.
The bitter citric plays a duet with an earthy base and that until his fade away. It is simple and yet so refined how an at first sight harmless interplay of a few notes ends in such a philharmonic orchestra.
Terrific!

One may bow before this classic in the hope that it will never disappear from the scene.
Because with the Pacos and Le Males of today's generation of fragrances, you will never experience such a feeling.
You have true character and inner strength

There, not disturbing and yet so memorable.
They exist. The kind of person who stands out and yet is so inconspicuous. People, whose appearance alone is enough to attract attention and then leave the stage silently and inconspicuously. What remains is this immensely strong impression, which lasts and burns itself in. That's what an alpha-animal is called, but not this kind of macho or daredevil, but a leader. Determining and hard, but at the same time soft and sympathetic.
When I think of my chosen words Leather Up appears in my mind's eye. Because I attribute the attributes described above to it.

Leather Up combines two quite different characteristics and puts them into context. However, they do not merge into one, but run linearly to each other and coexist.
On the one hand we have a fruity, freshly laid out soft side, which is the counter-pool to a more angular, leathery side, which comes across as very tart.
So the fragrance begins with a blend of tangerine and bergamot. Directly, however, one has the smelling counter-pool, mediated by a nice whisky note. The fragrance has such a fruity start, but it is consistently tart.
It becomes spicier as it progresses. The freshness remains, but is complemented by a leathery undertone. I find it difficult to differentiate between suede and leather, so just stick with the leather support. The fragrance now has a stronger impact in the spicier area, which I tend to support. This way it remains a bit more masculine and doesn't get lost in a fruit mix. The whole thing also gets/has a smoky touch, similar to tobacco, which I find totally strong. I find the idea well realized and get directly the association of a woodcutter. Strongly built, leather boots, caro shirt, cigar in the mouth and in the break the pleasure of a single malt.
Patchouli at the end makes it more earthy, glides into the overall context without being too dominant.

Durability is neat, discreet in appearance. As just described. Striking, striking but so quiet that it does not disturb. Nevertheless, it burns itself into the memory.
I like him and tend to see him standing on a man, although he certainly stands on a woman. But it's certainly not for every woman

Transience
His name was Bryan. He was a soldier stationed in Kandahar. His desire was always to do something righteous and serve his country. His parents never wanted him to be a soldier. The dangers and risks he might have to face were not small
It came as it should have come. The foreign order. Kandahar. A province so beautiful and yet filled with so many abominations.
The people back there so frightened, and yet so friendly. All they wanted was peace. Peace as it should be for everyone, no matter what country, religion or political opinion. Bryan also saw these people for what they were: as human beings and he sought closeness. Tried to get to know them and show them that he was no threat.
Time passed and a trust was established between him and the people. One day, outside his ministry, a village boy wanted to show him something. He led him to a beautiful landscape with countless flowers. Including a rose known as the Rose of Kandahar.

This rose was to play a decisive role in the end, but more about that later.

Bryan was more than fascinated. This landscape and the smell. He was more than pleased. The rose had such a wonderful scent, he could hardly put it into words
At the beginning he heard an engaging spicy start, paired with a well-dosed sweetness. It must be the cinnamon and bitter almond. A great contrast as he found. As he let the aromas subside a bit and the time passed, he could perceive more notes. Here it was mainly the tobacco that became more and more apparent to him. The scent of the rose now also came through supporting him. The scent captivated with its many facets and dimensions. He was not able to smell everything. It was an opulent work of art, complex and capturing the environment around him. In the last moments it became more earthy, patchouli dominated the scene and at some point the smell disappeared.
A flattering, never in the sweet outgoing fragrance.

Enraptured by this perception, he forgot the time. So that's how long it took him to smell that scent. An enormous durability.
He thanked the village boy and asked if he could pick a rose once a month. He wanted to show his wife and his parents the incredible beauty of Kandahar. The boy agreed. Part of the landscape was used by the population for planting raw materials and crops.

Every month he now sent his family a postcard with a rose. He told about the great acquaintances, the surroundings, the culture, the food.
His family was delighted and kept everything. The postcard and the rose that caught the scent of Kandahar

At some point, however, the news stopped coming. The worry and despair became a bitter certainty. Her son, her husband was killed. That which they had always been afraid of came true. The family was left with both the beautiful and the ugly side of Kandahar. The rose that captured the beautiful and the war that took it. The roses remained. In memory of the positive that their son had described and in memory of their son himself.

Life. So beautiful and yet so fleeting. Enjoy it

Art, magic and a bit of perfection
I hear Paris is a beautiful city. I have never been there and the current conditions make a trip almost impossible. Well, I suppose a chance will come along.

My younger sister has already moved on. She has experienced Paris to its fullest - culinary, cultural and historical.
Of course, my sister knows about my modest hobby perfume and on my advice, she did not miss the opportunity to explore THE perfume city par excellence.
My luck in this case: She gave me two samples, one of them the above mentioned scent.

And what can I say? I don't know what to say. This is mastery, art, magic, and true perfection. I have seldom smelled such a great aroma of clay cadavers so impossibly well balanced. The valence and harmony that characterizes the fragrance is sublime and, in my opinion, is second to none. Of course, the fragrance does not have many facets, cannot come up with an unbelievable scent development, but just this simple conception reflects the face of this work of art. And just this circumstance, to conjure up such a great scent from such a simple basic idea, borders on perfection for me.
Tonka bean, almond, and incense are there from the first second and accompany you until the end. With an I'll call it solid shelf life. In the beginning it seemed a little weak on my chest, but here a sensory overload of my nose could have been the cause. In the last test, the durability was good to solid and the sillage more than adequate. I myself have been able to perceive him well again and again.

What remains is to say that we have an extraordinary fragrance, whose unusual strength is its lack of complexity, which makes it perfect for me. I don't write it often, but this is art, magic and a piece of perfection
