Embarrassingly Touched
About 3-4 years ago, Rammstein Rosenrot hit the market, and since I had heard from some YouTubers that the Rammstein fragrances were actually quite good, I was curious. Especially since this one was considered one of the better ones in the line and was also heavily discounted, I decided to get it. So, during a break at vocational school, I made my way to the city to grab the bottle.

As soon as I sprayed the fragrance and was back in the classroom, I heard from my seatmate Vanessa: “What stinks here?” I turned to her and saw her wrinkling her nose - and she was not alone. Several of my classmates had also turned their heads in my direction, and it quickly became clear that the fragrance was not well received by them. Vanessa, in particular, was quite direct in her rejection, which honestly made me a bit embarrassed, but also somehow funny.

As I perceived the fragrance more intensely, it quickly became clear to me that it is very rosy and feminine - and to be honest, rose scents are just not my thing. The rose is quite dominant here, almost a bit too much, and it immediately gave me the feeling that this fragrance wouldn't quite suit me.

The fragrance develops overall very straightforwardly, without any major surprises. While this may be pleasant for some, I simply missed the depth and complexity that I like to find in a fragrance. However, what I cannot deny is the good longevity and sillage: the fragrance stays on the skin for a long time and has a decent projection, which many will surely appreciate.

Still, the bottle now stands untouched in my perfume cabinet. Even after several attempts to give the fragrance another chance, it unfortunately could not convince me. If you like rose scents and prefer clear, uncomplicated perfumes, Rosenrot could definitely be something for you. For me personally, however, it simply remains not the right fragrance - but hey, everyone has their own preferences!

Edit: I just noticed that the fragrance is listed as a women's fragrance. I was almost sure it was offered as a unisex scent before. Maybe that explains a lot - I would have expected it to be more unisex, which probably influenced my initial perception of the fragrance.

Absolute classic with well-known scent DNA
The One EDP is one of the best scent DNAs out there for me. I bought it a few years ago here on Parfumo, but somehow I wear it far too rarely. Every time I spray it on, I am impressed anew - this warm, inviting scent fits so many situations and almost every season, except for the height of summer.

I can't quite understand the criticism regarding its longevity. On sweaters, the scent is still clearly noticeable even after days. Although the sillage is rather subtle, it is particularly well-suited for occasions where you get closer, like for a date.

In its base DNA, it reminds me of YSL La Nuit de l'Homme - that warm, sensual note that is ideal for the cooler months. The One EDP remains a true classic for me, combining timeless elegance and sophistication.

Affordable Alternative to Naxos
As a big fan of Xerjoff Naxos and its masterpiece of tobacco and honey, I had to look for something new after the last spray from my bottle. Since my student budget doesn't currently allow for Naxos, I got Insurrection II, an affordable alternative for just about €30.

To be honest: Insurrection II does its job really well. The scent lasts a long time, the honey-tobacco profile comes through clearly, and even the bottle looks surprisingly high-quality. For the price, it's definitely a good substitute and brings a bit of the feeling that I love about Naxos.

But it remains "only" an alternative for me, even though, as noted in the comment by Emu (thank you very much!), it was released before Naxos - this makes me appreciate this scent even more.
Naxos simply has that complex scent progression that reveals new facets time and again and feels truly elegant. Insurrection II smells similar, but develops more straightforwardly and doesn't quite have the depth.

Still: For €30, Insurrection II is really a good deal and accompanies me quite solidly in my everyday life. But at some point, a bottle of Naxos will definitely come back into the house.

a true masterpiece!
After reading so many positive reviews about Xerjoff Naxos, I simply couldn't resist and had to test it myself. It was love at first sniff: Naxos is a perfect interplay of tobacco and honey, warm and rich, without being overwhelming. The scent development is wonderfully balanced, and the longevity is enormous - exactly what one hopes for in a high-quality perfume. The bottle also looks simply elegant and fits perfectly with the character of the fragrance.

Unfortunately, my bottle is now empty, and as a student, I currently have to rely on the dupe Insurrection II. For just €30, it provides a respectable substitute - the longevity is good, and the bottle also looks appealing. But still: it’s just not Naxos. Someday I will treat myself to another bottle of Naxos, I am sure of that!

Elegant Grandpa
Around Christmas 2022, I acquired Habit Rouge by Guerlain as part of a gift set. I must say, this fragrance feels quite "older" on the first spray - it evokes the elegance and calmness often associated with older men. It's as if you have a satisfied, stylish grandpa in mind, sitting by the fireplace with a glass of whiskey in hand, deeply engrossed in a book, completely content and at peace.

For many in their twenties, Habit Rouge might initially feel unusual, but that's exactly what appeals to me. I like to wear it when I dress a bit more elegantly, for example, when I go to the library. Even at 24, you can discover this fragrance for yourself, especially if you enjoy the feeling of exuding a certain timeless class.
