A short trip to the fair
"Boum - Vanille & Sa Pomme d'Amour | Jeanne Arthes" came to me this week as part of a traveling letter. The EDT starts off wonderfully real with a slightly sweet apple. Then the apple scent becomes weaker. And some vanilla (sauce) joins in.

After about 5 minutes, the apple changes to a rather greenish, juicy apple and then it becomes quieter and more skin-like.

After a good 1 hour, the apple is unfortunately almost gone with one spray. What remains
a mixture of vanilla with a fruity note. A slightly apple praline?

Smells good on me, but I won't be buying it. H/S is really not intoxicating, and I would find the fragrance more appealing on a teenager. Definitely a nice, fruity, simple apple/praline scent, and probably good for layering.

Beautiful coconut fragrance with a sweet musky-sugar drydown
I like coconut in perfumes. But not synthetic coconut, please, but a nice "real" one. Not so easy when you really, really like the stuff - and unfortunately can only eat minimal amounts of it. So I look for fragrances with coconut water, just whipped, rather tart coconut, through to sweeter shredded coconut and creamy coconut milk.

First of all, I get a nice coconut on my skin here! Before we get there, "Thank U, Next (Eau de Parfum) | Ariana Grande" starts the first 5 minutes or so with a mix of pear and raspberry - yummy says my olfactory organ and I can almost taste it. However, I don't find it sweet at this point. It only becomes sweet on me after a good 3 hours.

Then the coconut comes in ... and it's not a sweet-synthetic coconut, but somehow a tart one. The raspberry still somehow resonates with some acidity and something else. That makes it exciting for me. Without the fragrance pyramid, however, I wouldn't have been able to tell that it was rose. It stays like this for about 3 hours.

And then comes the surprise for me. #thank u next becomes sweeter and creamier. And there's a little bit of coconut in there too. But just a hint.
The durability is ok on me. After 4 hours close to the skin with a small spray. I would have to test it more extensively to be able to say more about it.

It definitely smells much more intense and synthetic on the test strip than it does on me. Therefore: definitely test it on your skin!

I think it's a beautiful, carefree fragrance for spring/summer. Not only for younger people - who are definitely Ariana's target group - but in my opinion also for the "older" young at heart. I am 47 :-).

A short, 1.5-hour pleasure in southern Italy
Today I indulged in my hobby again and went to Douglas in the Pasing Arkaden. I like the pure smell of orange blossom, and that's exactly what the "Devotion | Dolce & Gabbana" promises (at least according to the fragrance pyramid). So my wish list was tested down a bit.

Shortly after spraying it on (2 sprays on the wrist), I am bathed in wonderful, clear, slightly sweet lemon. I really like it and it promptly transports me to Ischia.

Then the lemon fades into orange blossom ... and I thought to myself "oops, I know you"? At a certain point in the first hour, it smells almost identical to "Guimauve de Noël/31 | Parle Moi de Parfum" to me.

The lemon cake that many people describe here is something that I can only somewhat understand in the first 5 minutes. But then it is clearly an orange blossom and not lemon that Devotion smells like. Perhaps I also have the advantage of having orange blossom hydrolate here and know exactly what it smells like? Or should smell like?

After an hour, the beautiful orange blossom has already become quite skin-deep. And then poof ... it's gone. Really COMPLETELY gone. I can only smell a little vanilla on my wrist, and my husband can't smell anything there (I have a sensitive nose).

I think that's a great pity - because the fragrances are beautiful! That's not enough, even for a splash.

A wonderful vintage - suitable for a self-confident woman
Tigress came to me via my mom in November 2023. I found the slim 30ml bottle with a golden cap and amber-colored liquid together with other vintages, vintage minis and a few forgotten bottles of mine in a drawer in the basement. I am thrilled. What a find! I guess it's from the 80s - whether before or after the reformulations is beyond me.

"Tigress (Cologne) | Fabergé" has a strong spicy-sweet opening, then, within a minute, notes that are indefinable to me are added and it transforms into a floral-spicy fragrance.

A warm feeling spreads through me.
A recognition. A feel-good smell.

I sniff again and again, and within the first 5 minutes the earthy oak moss comes through. I have a memory of walking in the forest and I smell this slightly earthy, mossy scent with every step I take on the springy forest floor, and there's something vanilla-spicy-floral in the air. It's spring or fall ... the sun is shining.

The fragrance is incredibly well woven and seems very lively to me - it changes from one moment to the next.

After 2 hours, the oakmoss fades into the background and I am surrounded by a sweet, spicy, earthy and floral scent. It then lasts like this and becomes quieter as it progresses. As I washed my hands after 5 hours, I didn't experience the "end", but I estimate that it will last a good 8 hours. The addendum will follow when I have had time to leave "Tigress (Cologne) | Fabergé" on overnight.

As I smell the oakmoss very strongly here - especially as I know it from my essential oil extract - I did some research. Nowadays, oakmoss is rarely found in its original form but only synthetically in perfumes. It has been in very limited use since 2004 due to its strong allergy potential (because 3 people in a small study reacted allergically to it!) and many perfumes have been reworked as a result.

Fragrant rose on light coffee - but no ristretto
On 13.1.24 I finally got around to testing my new exchanged bottling of "Ristretto Intense Cafe | Montale". Based on the descriptions, I had thought that I was getting a coffee fragrance - something along the lines of "Coffee Addict | Theodoros Kalotinis", but with a hint of rose.

How surprised I was when, shortly after spraying it on, I was greeted by a sweet, candied rose - bedded on a light coffee. And this is a coffee with a slight vanilla note, not a rather bitter ristretto like the ones I know from Italy or mocha.

A good 10 minutes later, the rose is so intense on me that I think I'm smelling my wonderful scented rose in the garden. I can only slightly smell the coffee.

After almost 30 minutes, the strong rose fades into the background. Yes, finally --- there's the coffee! Too soon - coffee, rose and vanilla enter into a liaison, and the musk makes its first appearance - I have a slightly powdery impression.

After 45 minutes, I smell vanilla rose powder with a hint of coffee. It's a lovely scent, which then finally loses the coffee scent after a good three hours, leaving a soft, vanilla powdery scent on my skin. This then lasts until the next morning.

Yes, what can I say, the perfume name is definitely misleading for me. And I don't understand why "Ristretto Intense Cafe | Montale" smells almost exclusively of rose on me. I'm not going to buy it because I have other rose fragrances.

I also find the overpriced price and bottle totally inappropriate. Even if Montale remains true to itself (and thus probably lowers its production costs). Because one basic bottle for everyone is definitely cost-effective.)
