Behind Valentino is Italian fashion designer Garavani Valentino. Garavani immersed himself in the fashion world at a young age: After graduating from high school, he took courses in fashion drawing in Milan to hone his skills. He then trained as a fashion designer and founded his own fashion house in Rome. In 1962 he brought Giancarlo Giammetti on board as managing director, which gave Garavani the opportunity to concentrate fully on his creative fashion design.
