A Man's Dream Also for Women
This year I was on the hunt for Dior fragrances. The price increases at LVMH are really something, and that's why I wanted to expand my collection with my all-time favorite scents as quickly as possible. This year alone, at least 4 wonderful fragrances joined my collection.

Each time I could choose a sample, and since I'm not very adventurous with makeup and cosmetics, I picked two fragrance samples. And each time, one of them was "Tobacolor | Dior." I love tobacco scents, which is actually quite untypical for me, but after "1 Million Privé | Paco Rabanne" and "Side Effect | Initio," I knew I had to try it. Peach isn't exactly my best friend, but I still wanted to take the plunge.

I was not disappointed; on the contrary, the fragrance landed on my wish list the very minute I sprayed it.

The Fragrance:

Tobacolor starts with a strong sweetness from honey and peach, making it seem rather feminine at first. The tobacco is more of a supporting character initially. After about an hour, it begins to dominate. The sweetness has slightly faded, and the scent becomes increasingly neutral. After about 2 hours, the tobacco takes its throne and presents itself in its absolute masculinity. It knows what it wants and asserts itself. Shisha associations are definitely present, but I find it much more masculine than "1 Million Privé | Paco Rabanne," which simply smells of sweet shisha tobacco and can therefore also be worn well by women. I would even say that the fragrance can possess elegance in the right dosage.

The longevity is above average for me - sometimes when sprayed on the skin, I can still smell it the next morning. I would definitely give it at least 8-16 hours. I haven't experienced anything like that before. On clothing, it lasts for several days.

Even though it drifts into the masculine, it will soon find a place in my collection.

Dioramour, a love for eternity
As the 5th member of my Dior Privée line, this fragrance was initially not on my radar at all. I love vanilla and gourmand scents, sometimes even fruity ones.

However, after changing my opinion about powdery fragrances through Allure Eau de Parfum and "For Her (Eau de Toilette) | Narciso Rodriguez," I wanted to try this Dioramour, also because of its beautiful name.

The scent is truly like a poem. Not as sweet as "For Her (Eau de Toilette) | Narciso Rodriguez," and much more elegant and mature. The iris is, as expected, very present, but I must say that I also detect animalic notes (I suspect partly musk), which are never dominant and blend beautifully with the jasmine. Dior fragrances are usually very well balanced, and this one is no exception. It definitely has the potential to be a signature scent, as it can really be worn in any season. The sillage is breathtaking; the best part of the fragrance.

I imagine a woman over 30 who is still romantic at heart. She is successful but hasn’t forgotten her inner child and watches love movies in the evening. She wears floral dresses in her free time and blouses at work.

For me, a forever fragrance, and when I heard it was being discontinued in the States, I immediately got the largest bottle. Dioramour, a love for eternity.

The Queen of Aliens
Mugler created - before L'Oreal's takeover - the Alien line of fragrances for a divided crowd, yet still memorable perfumes. When I first smelled the original Alien, it was perfect for that woman - strong, confident, striking. A woman who knows what she wants. Sensual and passionate. On me, it smelled very out of place and despite the insane sillage and longevity, it didn't quite match my personality, and I even got headaches from it. What a shame.

Still, I wanted to give the Aliens a chance, and when I took a blind buy and ordered "Alien Essence Absolue | Mugler," I was blown away. As a devoted vanilla lover with a weakness for incense, the scent was exactly what I had always imagined. I thought I had found my Alien.

One day, I came across it and received a sample of "Alien Liqueur de Parfum - Création 2013 | Mugler," and I was shockingly in love.

Alien Liqueur is a woody almond-rum dream. It is the gourmand version of the original. In my opinion, there is no scent progression. The sillage and longevity are typically Mugler bombastic.

This fragrance is perfect for a confident woman who is still a bit playful and not too stern. She knows what she wants, but she doesn't demand it harshly; instead, she can wrap you around her finger. She is sensual, yet still the nice girl next door. She is grounded, and her sex appeal lies in her approachability.

I will definitely be getting another bunker bottle.

The Last Love Lasts Forever
I love the Trésors. They are, for me, the gem among designer fragrances. Always pleasant, loving, high-quality, and unbeatable in price.

This scent completely flew under my radar. You can't find it in any of the big department stores, so I thought it was just a failed experiment by Lancôme.

But by chance, I came across the fragrance, and since lychee and raspberry are two of my favorite notes for summer, I took the plunge and bought it blind.

And now I wonder … how on earth is this fragrance not sold at the counters??

The top note was the most delicious, loving experience I have smelled in a long time. So fruity, perfectly balanced, and simply feminine. Over time, the scent becomes a bit darker, but it still retains its playful quality. The base is heavenly and a true pleasure.

One could say it is La Nuit Trésor L'Eau de Parfum in a softer, slightly more youthful and romantic version. This fragrance is definitely my summer scent for 2021 and for the coming years as well.

I also assume it will be discontinued, so I need to get a backup bottle before that happens. If you like the Trésors,
I would definitely recommend you give it a try.

Spices with a Touch of Vanilla
When I saw that Vanilla Diorama was the next Dior release, I was filled with anticipation for weeks. As some may know, I am so enamored with vanilla scents that I even wrote 2 blog entries about them. I have tested several hundred already, so I think I have a certain know-how in the vanilla segment.

When the sample finally arrived, I couldn't wait to spray it in my apartment; it had to be right in front of the mailbox! And unfortunately, I have to say I was extremely underwhelmed.

The opening was extremely lemony for me, with orange and a lot of cardamom. No trace of vanilla. The scent actually reminds me a lot of "Fève Délicieuse | Dior," which I own myself, and I immediately made a comparison on my arm. Laziness, or did Dior just want to reuse a good DNA? Definitely no vanilla for me.

After half an hour, the vanilla waves at me, but is still overwhelmed by a wave of cardamom. I can hardly smell cocoa; it suffers in the background.

Over time, it does come forward, but I would never declare the scent as a vanilla fragrance. It is not gourmand, definitely more spicy or oriental and slightly woody.

Am I disappointed? Unfortunately, yes. One could say it is Fève with lemon, with spice, and as a lighter version. I agree with others, definitely unisex, but the scent simply lacks character. Carelessly thrown together and built on the successful Fève DNA. Unfortunately, it doesn't stand out; it is not likable and has no recognizability, which is very unfortunate.

However, there was one good thing: I received a miniature of "Gris Dior / Gris Montaigne | Dior" with my order, which I can warmly recommend to you.
