Perfect autumn companion, attention spicy!
Rarely have I tested a fragrance so perfectly suited to a season. From the first spray, I was reminded of the countless autumn walks I took last year. I walked for hours with my husband through our nearby woods, the smell of coniferous and deciduous trees mingling with damp earth, the first wood stoves being fired up and their smoke permeating the air. The sky was steel grey, but not unkind. Nature and animals were slowly preparing for winter, but there were still many golden hours of sunshine.
The thick scarves still scratched a bit, the feet had to get used to the solid, somewhat clunky hiking boots again, and in the bag I always had a bar of dark chocolate, as a snack (my husband smiles every time about it, but I think chocolate tastes outside again quite different than indoors, and I am now a pleasure person).
Afterwards, we treated ourselves to coffee and children's punch in our favorite restaurant, high up in the forest, next to a small church. The tiled stove crackled next to us, and it was just quaint and cozy. Hach, there I look forward to it again! Good that baby girl also likes to be outside :-)
"Vanilla Diorama" is of course not an earthy forest scent, it already hits in the sweet direction, but you definitely have to like spicier perfumes.
The description "sweet-gourmandig" I can not share, I feel it even a bit misleading, because you could expect a completely different fragrance based on the fragrance notes. I definitely felt that way. The cardamom is very noticeable, and gives the scent its autumnal spice. I am slightly reminded of spice cake (my specialty during the cold season), the cocoa in the scent makes this impression perfect. Patchouli gives it depth, but really doesn't make it too tart and dark.
Yes, there is similarity to "Feve delicieuse", however, I would call the two already as independent fragrances. In "Vanilla Diorama" you can smell the citrus notes out well, these make the fragrance lighter than its distant relative. I don't smell rum directly, I think it is very finely interwoven with the spices and chocolate. The perfume is mMn suitable and pleasing even for spice novices, as the vanilla makes it soft and approachable. "Feve delicieuse" is already different, stronger. The sillage is a little more than close to the body, which I find absolutely good for this fragrance. For that, it still lasts a good 8 hours. It is friendly and bright, but in its way adult and relatively elegant, yet resonates a certain melancholy, which brings autumn with it. He fits to cuddle on the couch, to the extended hike and to go for a nice coffee equally.
I think when I start decorating for autumn in late September, early October, I'll try to recreate the scent on a plate with all sorts of components. A few vanilla sticks, dried orange slices, some cocoa beans (the chocolate ones), cardamom, star anise if necessary, peppercorns, some dried leaves and woods, see what comes out.
A test, the fragrance is definitely worth it, even if it has similarities to some well-known fragrances (the previous speaker has already explained this excellently). I look forward to the autumn, which will hopefully be a golden!
With "Vanilla Diorama" I have already found my perfect companion, whether it's rainy-cool-foggy, or sunny-warm-clear-golden. Merci Monsieur Demachy!
