The Scent of Sweet Rubber
A few years ago, I had Gaultier² in my collection. At that time, the fragrance was super affordable. I also have Gaultier² Eau d'Amour, which is now very rarely found.
Unfortunately, I had sold my remaining bottle some time ago, as I always want to downsize my collection. However, I did miss it a little, as this fragrance is quite special!
So I was all the more pleased when I found out it was being re-released and that I could order it on Monday. It wasn't easy, and it took until late evening before I could finally place my order. I was very happy yesterday when UPS delivered the package in the afternoon.
As soon as I sprayed it, the scent grabbed me again, and I felt like I did years ago when I first smelled it. This very heavy, floral sweetness simply makes it special. It smells like sweet rubber; for me, it always reminded me a bit of those dolls from the 80s that had such a sweet scent. I also detect a hint of marzipan. A fine sandalwood wafts in the background.
To my nose, the fragrance hasn't changed! What stands out is of course the sillage and longevity, but in my opinion, this is due to the maturation process, which just needs a while! I am convinced that by this time next year, it will be a completely different caliber ;) You just have to give it time. If it doesn’t, that’s not a problem for me at all; it’s easy to wear and reapply anywhere!
I’m definitely looking forward to having the bottle as my own and believe it will bring me a lot of joy, especially now in the colder season (if it ever gets colder) :)

I'm in Lemon Cake Heaven
When you hear lemon, you usually think of sourness or toilet cleaner. At least that's how it is for me. I've been on a little candle trip for a few months now, and yes, it's slowly turned into a little passion :) Not long ago, I was able to smell a candle that actually smells like lemon cake. Just like the birthday cake that my wife gets baked every year by her mother-in-law. Ah, I can tell you, it's a dream!
Of course, I wanted to have the matching perfume for the candle as well. So I started a post here in the forum, and voila, I received so many great suggestions. Thank you all again for that, you are simply the best :) Thanks to a lovely perfumer who sent me some samples, I came across the suggested Cookiecrunch. As soon as I sprayed it, I knew I was back in lemon cake heaven!
The scent:
For me, it's an absolute dream scent. I couldn't imagine a nicer lemon cake scent. Nothing smells artificial here, but really very authentic, a super quality! A zesty lemon, sweet vanilla cake batter, and a powdered sugar glaze, and there you have it, the world’s best lemon cake from my mother-in-law.
I can't really say more about it; nothing follows, it simply remains a blend of vanilla, lemon, and powdered sugar on my skin without much fuss, which I find very nice! With this, I have found what I was looking for :)
Conclusion:
It's truly amazing how well this has been achieved without becoming annoying after a while or the scent changing negatively over time. On the contrary, you always want more of it.
You certainly don't want to smell like this every day, but it is really a welcome change and can definitely be used more often; it brings me good mood and a cozy feeling.
So, if you're looking for lemon cake for your skin, here it is!

My Vanilla Fairy
Guerlain is always good for a surprise! So my joy was quite great when I read about the new Shalimar Millésime Vanilla Planifolia. I believe that Guerlain works best with vanilla. I have never smelled such fine vanilla notes in fragrances anywhere else as I have in Guerlain perfumes.
Shalimar is a fragrance that makes a statement. I envision a refined lady over 50, elegantly dressed and stylish. Since I (still) have not reached that age and unfortunately do not see or rather smell the original Shalimar on myself, I wanted to give this limited edition a try.
I had already found great pleasure in the Shalimar Cologne, so this was worth a test. I was not disappointed; this is a wonderfully enchanting fragrance with a breathtaking vanilla note, all presented in a modern way.
About the scent:
Here, vanilla is the main theme. It is truly buttery soft, almost powdery. Nothing here reminds me of any sweets or vanilla desserts. This vanilla is very special, mature, and simply something extraordinary! Additionally, there is a light, bright smoke. But not charred wood or stinky cigarette smoke; rather, it’s like a citrusy steam with a minimal smoky note. I can only describe this poorly, but perhaps you understand what I mean ;)
In short - a modern vanilla Shalimar of the highest class with a minimal touch of citrus and smoke!
It lasts well on the skin and has a decent sillage that doesn’t overwhelm you but rather pleasantly stands out. A perfect companion for the cooler season and a wonderful mood lifter :)
For me, my own vanilla fairy :)
The bottle:
Simply beautiful. In the 50 ml size, it is just perfect. The liquid is a lovely orange. It looks fantastic in my glass display case! It feels nice in the hand, and the leather ribbon is also fitting!
So, after a long time, a comment on a fragrance, but this had to be said; I am simply more than enthusiastic and am considering getting a backup bottle since this is unfortunately limited...

Fine Sailor in Old Garb
Le Mâle was and still is my most frequently repurchased perfume ever. As far as I can remember, I received my first bottle in 1998, and since then, I have always had a bottle of this fragrance in my collection. Now there are so many extensions of Le Mâle that it's almost impossible to keep up... I still have a bottle from 2007, which I cherish very much!
The best extension of Le Mâle for me so far has been the Popeye Edition and the Terrible, both truly fine descendants of the original, albeit somewhat altered, which I enjoy using from time to time. But one starts to think that it should be enough, yet it seems they will continue to milk the Le Mâle cow, and it seems to be worth it ;)
I sprayed this one quite unprejudiced last week at Müller. Crazy, but I felt a bit transported back to 1998 when I held my first Le Mâle bottle in my hand. The typical DNA is now very well detectable here in Aviator, almost like back then... With the difference that Aviator is initially a bit fresher, like the Popeye Edition, and there is less cinnamon, with a slightly herbal/green note coming through. However, it quickly shifts towards sweetness, thanks to the tonka and vanilla. Even though lavender is not listed here, I believe I can still smell it quite well.
Another difference is the longevity and sillage. These are significantly reduced compared to the original from back in the day, which I consider very good, as it allows you to wear the fragrance wonderfully at work without overwhelming anyone ;)
In summary:
An extension of Le Mâle that (in my opinion) comes very close to the original from the early days, yet is somewhat fresher/herbaceous/greener with less punch, making it suitable for everyday wear.
Oh, I am happy that there is the Le Mâle Aviator; it at least somewhat replaces the original from back in the day, and I no longer feel like I have to chase after a rare bottle from the 90s for many euros ;)

Dior's Spa Scent
I actually quite like Dior. Among my favorites from the house are Sauvage Cool Spray and Dior Homme Intense! I hadn't encountered the Dior Homme EdT despite having tested many fragrances so far... But this one is supposed to be quite different, so there's no need to compare them here.
I am a big fan of ISO-E-Super fragrances, and I can always perceive them very well. It doesn't always have to be sweet, which this one definitely isn't!
The scent:
Barely sprayed, I strangely perceive a slight iris for about 5 seconds. But then it completely disappears, and a sour/juicy bergamot paired with a pleasant pepper note, which is well-known from Sauvage, comes through. Bright woods also play a role right away, creating a beautifully fresh ISO-E-Super note for me. This smells very fresh, bringing back memories of a spa. Hot stones in the sauna and citrus steam, very pleasant! For the first 15 minutes, the scent seems a bit old-fashioned to me, but then it takes a turn and smells modern and always wearable. From then on, the scent doesn't change for me, which I find quite nice.
Longevity/Sillage:
Unfortunately, this isn't very good for me. It radiates quite strongly only for the first few minutes, but then it becomes skin-close, which is probably just right for the office, but for me, it's a bit too weak, so I have to reapply more often. On my arm, I can still perceive it well for about 4-5 hours, then it is almost completely gone or just barely detectable.
Bottle:
Very stylish bottle, handy in the 50 ml version; I haven't had the 100 ml in my hands yet. It looks great on the shelf, simple & chic, fitting perfectly with the scent. The sprayer is also good, much better than the Sauvage perfume, which was a nightmare for me!
Yesterday, I was a bit skeptical about the initial old-fashioned touch, but today I see the scent a bit differently. I believe I will be able to wear it well at work or in my free time from time to time. The bottle will stay with me for now; let's see how it performs in everyday life :) The scent will definitely be a success, even though it should have received a different name, as this might confuse some people and lead them to compare it with the original EdT, even though it is supposed to be a standalone fragrance...
