Le Mâle Aviator Jean Paul Gaultier 2020

Der Duft ist einfach absolut durschschnittlich.
Könnte auch ein billiger DM Duft sein welcher unter 10€ kostet. Hält bisschen länger als diese Düfte aber hat einfach keinen eigenen Touch. Würde ihn nicht nochmal kaufen wäre er jetzt noch auf dem Markt. Einfach dieses Frische leicht süße holzige was mittlerweile schon fast Duschgel Flair hat.

The way it develops and evolves has me SMILING. It’s as if they removed all of the “old school minty barbershop” notes and left everything else behind... hard to describe the notes... familiar, but I can’t quite remember where I’ve felt it before...

It starts to sweeten up as all of the brothers do, but with a different swing in style; think right handed, not left handed, if that makes any sense. I’m getting an almost leather vibe here as it dries down. You can recognize the family, but it’s not the same father... a “half brother” if you will.

It feels rather soft in projection, and that is unfortunate, because I really, REALLY love the way this one develops... Sillage is decent; but as with most of the Le Male line, you’ll get obligatory fatigued, and left uncertain if your trail is still there.

I’m happy with my purchase, and I’ll wear it regularly, with pride.... now if I could get my hands on the “Le Parfum” my life would be completed.

Arrived today, ripped from the packaging, sprayed on... and initially very disappointed. "What a dud!" was my first thought, partly because the scent strongly reminded me of classic cucumber (don't ask me where that comes from, everyone has their associations - and "cucumber" isn't exactly something that makes me jump for joy).
Fortunately, it didn't stay at those cucumber-like exhalations; the scent has really developed strongly over the last three hours.
Sillage feels strongest after about an hour, and the fragrance shifts from cucumber (prominent for the first ~3 minutes) to herbal, until eventually the geranium shines through (which I really love) and is now replaced by a rather minty scent (that might be the violet leaf combined with the other notes, as mint doesn't appear in the fragrance pyramid here). I can't detect the tonka bean, although I thought I sensed something in that direction earlier... but now it's gone.
So far, a very pleasant scent that doesn't bother me, but also doesn't blow me away, as it comes across as quite simple; it's acceptable for the price, but not a must-have.
The bottle is typically JPG-masculine and I also really like the tin can!
All in all, a solid purchase that reminds me a bit of Eros Flame (probably due to the geranium).
PS: I am positively surprised by how much my girlfriend likes the scent - so from now on, a bit more fougère.

Le Mâle was and still is my most frequently repurchased perfume ever. As far as I can remember, I received my first bottle in 1998, and since then, I have always had a bottle of this fragrance in my collection. Now there are so many extensions of Le Mâle that it's almost impossible to keep up... I still have a bottle from 2007, which I cherish very much!

The best extension of Le Mâle for me so far has been the Popeye Edition and the Terrible, both truly fine descendants of the original, albeit somewhat altered, which I enjoy using from time to time. But one starts to think that it should be enough, yet it seems they will continue to milk the Le Mâle cow, and it seems to be worth it ;)

I sprayed this one quite unprejudiced last week at Müller. Crazy, but I felt a bit transported back to 1998 when I held my first Le Mâle bottle in my hand. The typical DNA is now very well detectable here in Aviator, almost like back then... With the difference that Aviator is initially a bit fresher, like the Popeye Edition, and there is less cinnamon, with a slightly herbal/green note coming through. However, it quickly shifts towards sweetness, thanks to the tonka and vanilla. Even though lavender is not listed here, I believe I can still smell it quite well.

Another difference is the longevity and sillage. These are significantly reduced compared to the original from back in the day, which I consider very good, as it allows you to wear the fragrance wonderfully at work without overwhelming anyone ;)

In summary:
An extension of Le Mâle that (in my opinion) comes very close to the original from the early days, yet is somewhat fresher/herbaceous/greener with less punch, making it suitable for everyday wear.

Oh, I am happy that there is the Le Mâle Aviator; it at least somewhat replaces the original from back in the day, and I no longer feel like I have to chase after a rare bottle from the 90s for many euros ;)

Well, if you want to play the good son-in-law and are out of your adventurous times, this is the right choice for you!
Very green, fresh, and with just a hint of Le Male in the air.
I think there are much better fragrances in this scent and price category.
