Unexpectedly good
Lately I've been clearing/trading my collection, and ive got this one on a trade, I really didnt expect much because this version didnt really have as much repercusion as the other flankers from the Uomo line, or as much repercusion like the Intense version.

Now with that said this on me smells like a really similar scent to Dior Homme Original (2011) Eau de Toilette , something I've been looking for a long time.

The iris in this one is really lipsticky, similar to both Dior Homme and Homme Intense, but its a bit lighter and airy, something I dont really mind.

It opens up with this sort of citrus and fresh lemon notes, something that caught me offguard, but later turns into this beautifull iris and some vetiver, that gives it some depth.

Longevity wise I get 6 hours on skin, projecting nicely for about 2-3 hours.

I would say this is usable more on colder days or maybe warmer nights.

Pretty unique compared to the other current Uomo line offerings.

Damn so good and sexy!
I love this fragrance: the interesting thing is that it doesn't seem a designer perfume at all, it could easily be considered a niche fragrance given its structure.
Regarding the fragrance, there's a promise that needs to be made - I'm referring to the new version (2021), which should have slightly changed.
The vibes remain the same, but with different notes; it has a citrusy opening followed by an heart of iris, vanilla, and cedarwood.
In contrast to the old version, which leaned more "chocolaty" with a more pronounced Gianduia accord in the heart, but personally, I also like this one.
The only downside is the performance: on my skin, it lasts less than 2 hours with poor sillage (tested multiple times). So, every 2-3 hours, you have to reapply the fragrance, or you won't smell it anymore.

King of Smooth or the Valentino Man
That this fragrance only has a single detailed review is shocking. Perhaps it's because I can't quite connect with it, and many end up with its predecessor, which not only has a different appearance (black cap instead of a gold one) but also different notes, such as coffee.

I actually wanted to buy the predecessor Valentino Uomo (2014) Eau de Toilette and ordered a 100 ml online, as an online shop had the image of the 2014 original. However, what arrived was this fragrance here. And what can I say?
I not only keep the fragrance but also never want to part with it.

You probably have to like iris to love this fragrance.
I do.
In my collection, I have Dior Homme Intense (2011), "Dior Homme Parfum | Dior", Dior Homme Original (2011) Eau de Toilette, as well as L'Homme and L'Homme Intense. Now I also have Valentino Uomo Intense, for which I will probably write a review as well. Now one could say that anyone who finds iris so beautiful will logically also find this fragrance beautiful. It could also be seen differently: Anyone who owns several bottles of an iris fragrance must have a good reason to buy or keep another one. Yes, there is one.

This fragrance is closest to Dior Homme Original (2011) Eau de Toilette, yet they are both beautifully and uniquely different in their own ways.
The VALENTINO is incredibly smooth, both in terms of the iris and the citrus at the beginning: bergamot and Italian lemon are listed in the top notes, but I have never perceived bergamot and lemon so softly, so muted. It’s almost like a fleeting vanilla-lemon cloud (vanilla is not a note) that quickly dissipates to introduce the iris immediately. Iris and cardamom then take the wheel and lead you to the most wonderful places, gently accompanying you for 5-6 hours. Black pepper is usually found in the top notes, but here it’s in the base notes. You have to read and think about the fragrance notes to realize that this fragrance contains pepper, as there is no burning or sharp scent at all. This fragrance remains soft from beginning to end, so black pepper at the end is more of a support, giving a slight depth to the gently fading scent. As for vetiver, I have repeated several times: I have never smelled anything so softly anywhere. This explains the title of my review itself.

So: For a price under 100 EUR, you get a designer fragrance that is absolutely perfect, and the scent fits so well with the elegant bottle, which, due to its color and shape, suggests a heavy but elegant women's perfume. I interpret this bottle in such a way that I believe Valentino is clear about what is being realized here: A men's perfume reinterprets the word "elegance" anew. ("With" because DIOR had set the standard with its iris fragrances for men).

Anyone who wants to be a Valentino man should get this Valentino Uomo. It’s a rather handsome, gentle, and elegant guy!

Valentino Uomo.....
After initial skepticism about whether I should even buy the fragrance, whether I could wear it, I ultimately decided to go for it.
Where did the skepticism come from in the first place? You know how it is. Checking here. Reading something elsewhere. Listening to all the videos on YouTube and painting a picture of what people are saying about it.
A hint of coffee. Some toffee. Somehow chocolatey. It should go in that direction.
Well, I already had the Uomo Intense. The bigger brother of the Uomo EDT. And I liked it since the first test. But then the EDT variant with toffee note? Could that work? I hesitated for a long time to finally test it and then make a definitive decision.

So the day came. Off to the Douglas store. Testing. Hmm...... It wasn't bad, but it didn't quite measure up to its Intense successor. Of course, I have slightly different expectations for an EDT. But it just didn't click for me. This toffee monotony didn't win my heart as a fragrance concept. It rather went through my stomach, making me crave cake and a freshly brewed mocha. So there was initially no buying decision. That came a bit later and differently than expected.
So back to the Douglas store. This time, however, online, so shopping digitally via the internet. And there I saw the fragrance pyramid. Not what I would have expected. Especially since the bottle also had a more modern look. What had happened? Reformulation? Did they officially change the fragrance pyramid without making a secret of it?
I found that alone interesting. But how should I imagine it now?
So I decided to quickly request the fragrance digitally. Ordered the small 50ml bottle and waited. I already know my expectations when I see fragrance pyramids. Most of the time, they align with my ideas. Sometimes a part is missing, and I have to do more research or test and retest. Not this time.

I confess, what I received far exceeded my expectations.
There was no hint of slightly sticky toffee coming from the spray nozzle, as I even initially expected. I had just briefly overlooked the fragrance pyramid I had seen a moment ago. What greeted me was a very sensual, slightly romantic, subtly appetizing, and everyday wearable scent. Oh yes, it came back to me. The new fragrance pyramid.
A very nice EDT with a main focus on cardamom. According to the fragrance pyramid, it has a base paired with pepper. It may sound boring, especially for seasoned perfume collectors and wearers. But don't be fooled. Everything was done right here.
Valentino Uomo has been conceptually upgraded.
From the oriental base, through the wonderfully creamy waist adorned with vetiver, and the beautiful slightly citrusy fruity opening - this fragrance composition is a dream.

In general, one must expect not to be able to swing it around for miles. The fragrance is a charmer. A diplomat, not a boxer. In cooler times, it lasts quite long for an EDT, about seven to eight hours. That's absolutely fine for this price range. Especially since I didn't notice anything derogatorily synthetic. Something that some might expect. Not at all. All clear.
I gladly recommend the fragrance for everyday wear. But it also fits excellently with festive attire. A very good fragrance for all occasions. Even for home by the fireplace with a glass of wine and a good book.
Your imagination knows no bounds here.

Valentino Uomo EDT in new formulation.
Fine sensual. Diplomatic. A connoisseur of normality and world-class.

The opening is different between this LOREAL version and the original - more citrus here. The dry downs, however, are very similar. Great fragrance.

For me, it's clearly the best Valentino fragrance. The scent is versatile and the price-performance ratio is incredibly good. Highly recommended!

A hidden gem, similar to the Intense but finer, better balanced, and much more versatile to wear. Love!

I've had it for two years, one of the most beautiful irises. Gentle, light, yet long-lasting. I'm just now noticing how (softly) citrusy it starts.

I can definitely confirm the cheesecake comparison. Intense for evenings and this one as a daily driver. As always, a great bottle.
