Anish Kapoor and the Blackest Black
Until recently, I had no idea that it had not yet been possible to create a completely black surface.
All previously created and seemingly completely black surfaces still reflect a small fraction of light.

I also did not suspect that my captivating passion for fragrances would educate me in this regard.

In 2014, the "blackest" black was developed, consisting of carbon nanotubes on a foil, which reflects only 0.035% of visible light.

In the art scene, only one person is allowed to work with this substance.

Anish Kapoor secured the exclusive rights from the manufacturing company shortly after its development and has since created several deep black art objects that sometimes seem to disappear in spaces.

In 2018, a museum visitor in Portugal jumped into a black hole in the floor, which, at 2.80 m deep, is not insignificant, but due to the use of the almost perfect black, did not appear realistic enough to prevent the jump.

But what does this colorless color have to do with Oud Khôl?

Thierry Wasser recently shared just a few meters away from me how Anish Kapoor's artworks inspired the new oud fragrance. Fascinated by his works and by the discovery of the supposedly blackest black, he set to work in many solitary hours in his studio to create a scent that should appear as dark as possible.

Just like the perfect black.

Thierry Wasser also understands his work as a powerful conclusion to the new oud trilogy. As a literally dark fragrance, it dominates over the rather lively Cherry Oud and the dreamily delicate Oud Nude - both works by Delphine Jelk.

Oud Khôl wants none of that. Not delicate, not lively, and not Everybody’s Darling. It is meant to be black.

The scent is quite wearable for me, but in any case conceptual. It strikes me as very dark and elusive. Smoke, darkness, leather, darkness, and only 0.035% sweet - just the deficiency that prevents it from appearing perfectly black.

I sincerely hope that this fragrance does not turn out to be a flop like the museum visit of the unfortunate Portuguese, as it is very conceptual and extremely special in the L’Art & La Matière series.

Thierry Wasser has certainly achieved his goal, and I tip my almost black hat to his craftsmanship. I now understand Oud Khôl and find it incredibly exciting. Surely I will wear it with reverence from time to time.

By the way, the museum visitor only sustained minor injuries, and the exhibition was widely celebrated as a success.

And so I also hope that such creative olfactory results do not mean a crash but are celebrated as exciting works.

Gris Dior was truly beautiful.
I am new here. I am new to a passion that captivates me rapidly and costs me sleep. New to a passion that allows me to feel a little happier anywhere. I have recently become a collector, a hunter, a connoisseur, a sharer - of all people, me, with my autism.
I can understand emotions, but I find it hard to respond appropriately. Or at least, what is considered appropriate.
Many things leave me quite untouched, at least when they exceed the confines of my closest family and friends.
I use my free time to research. When something interests me, I dive in deeply. I want - I need to know everything about it.
And that’s how I somehow stumbled upon the topic of fragrance a few months ago and eventually ended up here.
To get to the actual star of the comment, I will now gallop a bit:

Once registered here, I quickly requested my first samples, and the fragrances arrived shortly after, leaving me somewhat speechless at their quality compared to my previous olfactorily enjoyable “waters.”
After a few envelopes, Gris Dior finally arrived. Sprayed on my wrist and immediately closed my eyes while inhaling because I found it beautiful. Beautiful.
More decants came from sharings. Many decants.
Gris Dior was truly beautiful.
Several bottles moved in.
Gris Dior was truly beautiful.
I started wearing a different fragrance every day.
Gris Dior was truly beautiful.
I suddenly applied fragrances before going to bed.
Gris Dior was truly beautiful.
I gave fragrances 10 points here.
Gris Dior was truly beautiful.
I dreamed of fragrances.
Gris Dior was truly beautiful.
I thought about fragrances during the day.
Gris Dior was truly beautiful.

That’s when I slowly realized it. No matter which fragrance I am dealing with or which one I am currently thinking about - there always comes this quiet, beautiful memory of the fragrance I unpacked a few weeks ago, briefly tested, and deemed “beautiful.”
It is not just beautiful. It gives me goosebumps when I just think of it. It makes me happy when I wear it.
It makes me emotional.

Me.

I am not yet good at describing fragrances, and even if I could name every note blindfolded, perhaps the description of my well-being that I have tried to convey to you is just as helpful.

Gris Dior is stunning. Beautifully sensual, beautifully delicate, wonderfully refined flowers intertwined with a wonderful creaminess.

I realized just a few days ago that Gris Dior must be the fragrance of my life.

A short journey to the most beautiful destination.

I will like, appreciate, share, and rate other fragrances well, but I will always return to her.

To Gris Dior.
