So tell me, when you think about summer..
...what crosses your mind.
After the summer is slowly coming to an end and I put off the review of Acqua di Parma but a little longer before me, I feel compelled today to write a small ode to this fragrance.
Summer still has something magical for me. Like no other season, it takes me back to my childhood. Somehow my brain still associates "summer" with "leisure" - and that, even if it's rather the opposite now, is quite nice :)
Summer was spent as working class kids out in the somewhat greenish-yellow fields or in the woods in the middle of the backcountry, watching autumn slowly take over the landscape, the crops begin to ripen, and the scent of conifers, freshly threshed wheat, and tent-white windfall fruit build up in the air. Our first holidays were spent in tents, of course - much further inland! On warm, sunny days at ice-cold lakes in Bavaria, we ate ice cream, played cards, and read adventure books by Enid Blyton and Jules Vernes that took place in lands that seemed so far away.
The first family holiday outside of olfactory familiar Germany was magical - and in Italy, of course, with bag & baggage in the car, with dog and no air conditioning. Being in another country for the first time felt strange. We stayed in an aggriturismo - a converted farmhouse with a lovely owner, two dogs and five apartments. While we spent most of the day by the sea, we enjoyed evenings at the agriturismo with family. Too many sensory impressions to comprehend after all these years. But one constant remained to this day. The scent of lemon, bergamot, freshly applied sunscreen and the feeling of relaxation. Fresh, elegant, carefree. And so, actually, to this day, that very moment became my definition of a calm and comfortable summer.
Since I discovered Acqua di Parma Colonia at the beginning of my fragrance journey, this accompanies me during the spring, and summer months faithfully and almost daily. No other fragrance carries so much the summer DNA of my memory in itself and convinces me every time again at first smell.
And in keeping with the past ode, today (at an autumnal 6 degrees outside temperature at 8:00 in the morning) will be the day, with a heavy heart, when I will put away the 250 ml bottle and screw the cap on the Luce di Colonia room fragrance. Until 2022!

Oh, boy, oh, boy!
First comment. And somehow I did not expect to write this one about Molecule 01. During my original research on the fragrance, I was not really sure what to expect from this "fragrance" in the end because of the sometimes very different opinions.
Today I have to say, that thing is a beast - especially on hot days.
And even after all this demystification, the fragrance with its fresh, synthetic, woody character still has something strange and mysterious about it.
In spite of everything, I can fully understand the voices on the Internet of people who do not perceive it and give it a bad rating. And love at first breath was Molecule 01 with me then actually not. Until my nose has sensitized itself to the scent of Molecule 01, several weeks have passed. Partly I did not notice it even shortly after applying it. Conversely, on those days I suddenly received out of nowhere compliments on the great "perfume", which somehow shines more than you might think. And every time I was asked the same question "What exactly are you smelling?" and even today I still receive completely different opinions and first impressions. The only denominator is usually the woody base note, which I also perceive most strongly.
In general, my evaluation regarding the Sillage should be taken with caution. I felt that there is a rather inconspicuous border between "Goes down" and "Shines enormously" in Molecule 01 - If someone found the right amount of sprays here, please write in the comments - I would be interested. I have 4-5 sprays from the original bottle.
The durability is really very strong on my skin and easily holds a 10-11 hour workday. On objects, as can be read here often, it lasts forever. Blankets, couch cushions, seat belts in cars, ... - after several weeks of use in regular intervals you can find it everywhere - which is actually quite pleasant for me because of its inconspicuous character.
All in all, a great fragrance with great external effect and full recommendation. I have never noticed negative scent developments, which you read/hear about in the internet from time to time. It is unbelievably versatile, which is why it is currently in the first row of my morning thoughts when I think about it.
