Yes...no...maybe
Guerlain...a name that promises so much. Guerlain...the pinnacle of French perfumery. Oh Guerlain, oh...I am still so new to the world of perfume, but I am increasingly drawn to you. Unfortunately, I don't know much yet, but that's mainly because our little perfumery in town only carries a limited selection of Guerlain. Time and again, I have been tempted by Mon Guerlain, often tested it, yes, no, oh I don't know. Perhaps it was the temperatures, the weather conditions. But now it has happened...Mon Guerlain has moved in, and I believe that something great will come from us both. In the opening, I perceive something citrusy, it must be the bergamot, with a hint of lavender, but not moth-repellent lavender, just a touch, very delicate and elegant, bergamot dances around. I almost think it is a refreshing scent, but no, soon it becomes warm and caressing. One perceives a very fine, noble vanilla and something wonderfully floral. Now the base is also coming soon...vanilla, but not too sweet. And this base lasts forever. It even survives a shower, and you can tell that the finest raw materials are responsible for this sillage. Mon Guerlain...a fragrance that took a long time to ignite the spark in me, but now the flame burns.

Obsession...or 18-year-old goes sexy
What else is there to say about Obsession that everyone doesn't already know?
This fragrance was a hit from the 90s, and I happily hummed along. Obsession accompanied me for many years as a young woman; bottle after bottle was emptied, and when I look at photos from that time, a "Why?" pops into my head. In my youth, I was not at all the feminine seductress I might have liked to be, but Obsession made me believe I was. The advertising with the seductive Kate Moss surely did its job well.
Obsession came very simply, very Calvin Klein...total understatement. Beige cardboard box, simple bottle...but the content. My goodness! All the scents of the Orient captured in this classic. Spicy-oriental with vanilla and incense. Only the bergamot could bring a bit of freshness. The peach and mandarin were only faintly detectable in the top notes in a homeopathic amount; after that, it was just an olfactory bazaar visit. Obsession in its original version was a wonderful spice market in Persia. Intoxicating, seductive, and a signature scent of the rather brutal kind. Ah Obsession, I think I’ll sniff you again soon. Maybe you didn’t get reformulated and are still the "seduction with a crowbar."

Tribu...or the Archaeological Collecting of Old Fragments
I am a person who loves to indulge in memories, the famous "thought carousel" is a permanent resident in my garden, and therefore it doesn't surprise me that yesterday "Tribute" was on my mind...why? I don't know either. Since this fragrance last stood in my "girlhood room" many decades ago (probably next to Loulou), I set about sorting the scent fragments like an archaeologist.
I remember that I was also a brand-crazy teen in the late 80s. Esprit and Benetton were in demand. Back then, there were thick catalogs of these brands available in the store to take home, and they were very popular among us girls. Benetton was known for its controversial advertising at the time, which wouldn't be my thing today, but whatever. A turtleneck sweater from Benetton was the trend piece of the brand, and when you bought one, a miniature of Tribute would also go into the bag. I remember a rarely ugly bottle, glass wrapped in plastic. But the content...would still captivate. Tribute smelled like an indefinable fruit salad with a bit too much peach. However, Tribute was not fruity-light but rather somewhat "strong." I would describe H/S as rather delicate. Tribute was a long companion, not a fragrance for going out (for that, I preferred my mom's Opium) but a faithful everyday companion. As I said, I can still smell it a little if I try hard. The scents of youth are something you probably never get rid of...

Bitter sweet symphony
Kilian....a house that is repeatedly associated here in the forum with words like "noble, expensive, Rihanna's signature, etc." Thanks to a dear perfume friend, a sample has landed with me. Recently, I thought "Marshmallow, that's just your thing, you can almost order it blindly." I generally like sweet gourmand fragrances, but with Love don’t be shy, I was catapulted into another level of marshmallow.
The scent starts off a bit bitter, almost so bitter that I doubted whether it was going in a direction I desired. I unfortunately don’t know what Neroli smells like...maybe it’s this note that doesn’t sit well with me at first. This bitterness, yes almost bitterness, lingers for a while and is only slightly softened by the orange blossom. After an hour, I was almost at the point of saying "No, this isn’t going to work between us....please delight others who are more inclined" and then suddenly it’s there....marshmallow. Sweet and delicious, yet with a depth and wickedness. Not candy store sweet but "Hey, come here, let yourself be seduced. I’ll turn your head and you’ll think of me forever." Only the rose can somewhat tame the smoky marshmallow note, and it does this very well. It reminds me of that powder that envelops marshmallows. H/S I would describe as above average.
Unfortunately, I can’t say anything about the bottle and packaging, as it is a sample. The scent is truly beautiful, exciting, and multifaceted, and certainly rightly positioned in the upper price segment.

Loveparade in a Bottle
"Sunflowers"....another scent from my youth. Memories of vacations in the 90s, summer parties with friends. You were young, carefree...somehow life was easier and "Sunflowers" wonderfully captures the spirit of the 90s. When I smell this fragrance, I always feel like I’m at the Loveparade in Berlin (even though I’ve actually never been there). This is how it must have smelled...fruity, floral, cheerful, happy. Sunflowers smells to me like sunshine, music, dancing, freedom, fun. Carefree joy.
About the scent: Sunflowers is visually exactly what you would expect. A sunflower-yellow liquid in a simple bottle, adorned with a white cap. You get exactly what you see. The fragrance is wonderfully fruity. Watermelon and peach are clearly recognizable. However, Sunflowers is not fresh, not a classic summer scent. It has a certain warmth, radiating a bit of late summer...the summer is coming to an end, the fruits are ripe, autumn is already peeking around the corner.
Do I like "Sunflowers"? Oh yes, very much! Would I buy "Sunflowers" again? Probably not, it accompanied me for many years back then and now I might have outgrown it a bit at the age of 40. When I occasionally sniff it, it makes me a little melancholic. (perhaps this reflects something of the "The summer is coming to an end, autumn is soon here...as a scent and also in real life) Nevertheless, "Sunflowers" will always have a place in my heart and I hope it comes back into the spotlight and young women discover this scent for themselves and their "best summer of all time." It doesn’t smell outdated or unfashionable.
