Kilian, even if again and again sharply criticized by some or mildly smiled at.
Still one of my favorite houses.
The big and older brother of the "On the Rocks" the former City Exclusive fragrance Apple Brandy - New York represented one of the first points of contact after the iconic Straight to Heaven for me with the brand.
And what a contact it was. Apples, brandy, wood - I was blown away, drunk with joy.
Deep, full-bodied, pleasant - warm pleasure somewhere between distinguished and drunk at the village fair.

Now so some years later the "Flanker". Clear was immediately: The must here. Blindbuy.
In most Cases....not the smartest move, but.....well. Kilian had disappointed me so far rarely.
And not this time either. At least in terms of scent.
On the Rocks smells a lot "softer", airier and fresher than the role model.
Starts a little "tangy" with a slightly fruity note, should probably be the pineapple.
In my nose, however, nüscht with freshly cut pineapple zutun, rather anklänge of bergamot, but not directly penetrating citrus.
Rather like a mixed with some rum and Berentzen sour apple apple spritzer from which one has shaken a large part of the carbonic acid.
Although directly Boozy in the top note, but less "heavy" and slaying, as in the original
This light freshness pulls through the whole fragrance, almost to the base.
Vanilla, I perceive only very subordinate so that no too sticky sweetness spoils the course.
Ambroxan + moss come through with time and the fragrance presents itself somewhat greenish background.
No gloomy forest, no clammy musty moss, more like the dewdrops on a damp meadow. Associations of fresh and cool could arise.
The rum is consistently perceptible, but without this warmth in the original of a quaffable glass in a wood-paneled well heated gentlemen - lounge can be thought.
Is really conveyed rather the modern club atmosphere that you expect in the Big Apple aka NY. Lots of cool glass, metal and undercooled disdainful facial expressions.

All in all, you get with the fragrance exactly what you expect from the name, the DNA of Apple Brandy with a fresh twist. Without drifting too much in the shower gel / Saubermann or Zitrik / Freshness direction. A Beautiful Balance - Act between Heavy - Boozy and Fresh - Airy.

Now to the drum around, because here I find Kilian has mined hard. I've always been a little flacon and packaging snob, if I pay good money it should not only smell good but also be presented appealing.
The bottles, the coffrets and the whole presentation used to be a huge plus for the brand.
I bought my first flacons before Esteé Lauder took over the brand and this is now my first one after that and what you get for the price is unfortunately a joke.

The flacon design is a very nice idea, but implemented absolutely cheap.
From afar Hübsch, but as soon as you have him in hand and pulls off the cap an insult to any sense of aesthetics. Cheap plastic, with a poor fit and hold. The badge on the front paper-thin, almost like a sticker stuck on it.
The whole thing packaged in a featureless tiny black cardboard box.
No metal box, no velvet, nothing. Cost saving where it only goes. Whereby for 180 euros....
Well, at least the sprayer is really good, fine mist. No coarse particles.

Durability and sillage both for the proud price and the fact that in addition to the fresh notes with other notes especially in the base is also worked rather in the lower midfield.
Starts the whole in the first 30minuten quite brachial and well erriechbar for the environment, so the magic after 4-5h is only Hautnahe for my nose perceptible, no comparison to the original.

After what feels like half an eternity, 2 empty bottles, (some presumed?) reformulations,
and soon over 12 years on the market I still feel unable to put my appreciation into words, but still compelled to write something.
Gualtieri may be n verschrobener Kautz, which so the directions of his fragrances,

Named based on Pegasus, not a purebred or real existing horse like many of the other Marlys., no this one Wants to be different, aim higher.
Dazzling white, winged, powerful, sublime and part of Greek mythology.
An impressive name that casts great shadows and suggests a lot to expect from the fragrance.

Pegasus is but purely olfactory not particularly complex, at least not for my nose.
Bitter almond, vanilla, lavender form the prominent trio and create a nice blend that conveys something like sweet coolness in the prelude.
Like someone who holds you but is emotionally absent.
Called by many as metallic note, metallic almond, this paraphrase also comes quite close to the impression, but has nothing to do with the real feeling and smell of iron / metal mMn.
Pegasus is sweetish, however, I feel him at the same time as fresh.
So no special "cuddly scent" for the fireplace or cold winter days, rather a fragrance for office and everyday life. Pegasus is edgeless, although very special, but designed so that he wants to please.
I have long thought about what reminds me of the whole thing and after I discovered here the comment of Real3XO fell with me the penny, after cream, after body care, after such a clean person that one has the feeling he would have fallen into the Nivea almond skin cream pot.

Do I find Pegasus now bad ? No, definitely not. Rather the opposite, Pegasus gives the wearer for the duration of the day (~6-12h // because the durability and sillage on skin are enormous, on clothes even better) an enormous composure, self-confidence and certain aloofness without, however, too much to polarize.

Flacon is as usual from Marley very high quality and beautiful heavy.
The silver fits perfectly to the fragrance experience, although white would certainly have been extremely suitable.
Durability as already mentioned enormous and by far above the level of the current Herod or Layton. 6-8h + loose with some distance perceptible, then the projection flattens out a bit.

Scent very nice, if you are looking for something in the direction clean, without wanting to fall back on the good "shower gel vibe" or Aquaten

Not gender bound, quite flowing.Not intrusive or aggressive, yet noticeable without being annoying. Present without being shouty.
Suitable for all year round, except perhaps in the thickest midsummer.
Rather creamy than powdery, however, no Great scent progression except for the very dominant top note which is softened with time and slowed down by vanilla.

Straight to Heaven is my fragrance of the year 2020 and to this Absolut bescheidenem year what positive to win, I would like to honor the small masterpiece of Kilian with this commentary.

Straight to Heaven Extreme is, not a complex scent, not sophisticated, not.....extravagant.
At least not to my nose. Rum + vanilla very prominent and powerful, behind it almost barely perceptible patch, nutmeg and some wood.
Despite everything, the fragrance fascinates me so intangibly, the ingredients harmonize perfectly and shine. He is schnapsig, clear, but somehow there is more.
As you can see from my little text I associate with this rum aroma an extremely beautiful time. Chaotic, loud, young and stupid. But really happy.
When I wear Straight to Heaven I become melancholic, yes almost on the verge of depression when you reflect what you have lost. Beautiful pain.
The scent does something to me. And yet I never really feel uncomfortable. Soft Warm Melancholy in a Promising Black Bottle.
Gentle vanilla beans in sweetish rum, this connection, this alcoholic you have to like, but if you do that you get here neatly something for your money offered.

Flacon : As always High quality and ne smooth 10
Sillage : Not room-filling, but still well radiating especially in the first 2-3 hours
Scent : Perfect gentle rum, better gehts actually not
Durability : Holds much better than the Straight to Heaven White Crystal

For all Duftalkoholiker, pub goers, Suffies, Charles Bukowski Verschnitte, dignified gentlemen and perhaps also for the Ottonormalbürger with nem flask in the pocket certainly the Nonplus Ultra.
