Cuts Right to the Chase
YSL's "Y (Eau de Parfum)," like it's name suggests is simplistic, streamlined perfumery. It doesn't stand out as anything truly original, nor is it trying to. This is elegant, sexy, compliment-baiting juice that is totally versatile and most importantly approachable. The fruity, green-apple laced opening is to die for and the champaign-smooth drydown is where this totally shines. I love my niche just like the next guy on here, but "Y" really goes to show you the value in a well made, mass appealing, and female-friendly designer fragrance. You won't get a warmer reception ANYWHERE! For what you're getting I do find this kinda expensive, but I just cannot argue with the results. When my 100ml is done, I'll nab another bottle, no question!

Liquid Summer
I kinda love this! Although a part of me wishes "Cool Water Intense" shared more similarities with the DNA of Davidoff's original eau de Toilette (which is timeless), the other is just too preoccupied with it's sweet spectacle to mind much.

This is only Cool Water by name, which means yes: a darker, longer lasting Cool Water is what's expected, but not what's actually in the bottle. I'm guessing the fine folks at Davidoff were thinking mainline profits here, which I guess makes sense... but confusing people's expectations does not. Why not just conjure up a new line, or atleast a new branch of flankers?

---"TROPICAL ISLAND WATER"---

THAT IS pretty much what you get here! A burst of mandarin orange freshness accompanied by strong, sweet coconut ambroxan. Simple? Yes. Effective? Most definitely. Brash, youthful, and a bit synthetic? Sure, but in a playful, approachable, laid-back sorta way. While not as versatile as the original Cool Water, "Intense" has the potential to get copius usage all throughout the spring/summer.

Above anything else, Davidoff (thankfully) got the INTENSE part right! This is a potent, surprisingly robust formulation! I get 6-8 hours of rock-solid performance out of this bad boy, with a very noticeable sillage. Considering the strength and sweetness of this juice (that coconut...), some wearers may find it cloying and headache-inducing; especially in the high heat. Most everyone else will be basking in a sunny, absolute MAGNET of attention and compliments for most of the day. Pretty slick for such an affordable fragrance.

It's hard to compete with the lineage of Davidoff's Cool Water, and luckily "Intense" is a terrific addition to that legacy. Though the DNA has changed beyond recognition, I'd say "INTENSE" is the best flanker yet.

It's a liquid summer essential.

Fleeting Love
Bvlgari's "Man in Back" is to my nasal passages the premier boozy, leather fragrance from a designer house. It's a perfectly spicy, musty blend for a confident man looking for a slightly more dark and daring edge given the appropriate setting.

That is to inherently state that "Man in Black" is not the most versatile choice or one that would nicely fit into an office setting. I wouldn't say it's weather specific, but I'd suggest evenings, dinners, lounge dates, bars, and clubs as ideals for this juice.

I find "Man in Black" a superb fragrance and one not to be overlooked; but there is a hefty caviat to go along with Bvgari's bad-boy; and that's the performance. It's SURPRISINGLY poor. For a fragrance that smells so strong and potent, it's dishearting that it'll be all but gone in a couple of hours. I do prolong it's potency a bit on my skin with some well placed Vaseline, but there's no skirting the fact that this fails as far as longevity is concerned.

If you're like me and you don't mind taking your fragrances on the go (and reapplying when necessary) then I guarantee you'll get a lot out of Bvlgari's "Man in Black." I'd go as far as saying that reapplication is necessary.

I absolutely LOVE this scent, even if that love is fleeting.

Ever been in a Bentley before?
I haven't! But BENTLEY FOR MEN INTENSE is a great, mature-leaning, niche quality fragrance: but to avoid confusion, take my advice on this one. Avoid all of the hype and the affimentioned description for this gem.

They just have not been transparent about this scent profile or have illustrated well it's inherent value. This is based on the fact that "BENTLEY INTENSE" is NOT a boozy fragrance. At all! There are a lot of stellar booze fragrances out there (Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee, Maison Margiela's Jazz Club come instantly to mind), and you'd be steared wrong in expecting a similar DNA on a misguided blind buy of this.

What BENTLEY INTENSE delivers is a burst of creamy leather. That's the heart of this frag. It's a leather sensation! More specific, after the opening (which carries very evident pepper and frankinsence notes) it invelops you with the essense of a luxury car interior. In this regard, it is LITERALLY a Bentley fragrance which is not only very fitting, but has been done very well.

So well infact that BENTLEY INTENSE has garnered sort of a mass appeal and acclaim, whereas it would be easy to see how a scent like this could have come off as rather smug and uninviting.

BENTLEY INTENSE is expertly crafted lux perfumery at a very affordable price. If you aren't adverse to wearing leather fragrances (and aren't expecting the next boozy standout), this may end up being a standout in your collection.

A fever you can't sweat out
It's easy to see why FLAME is the favorite of the entire EROS line for so many. It's a unique, punchy blend of that rock-solid Eros edp DNA and the scorched, oscillating heat of say; Dior Farenheit. Too the perfumer's credit, it handles such a complex duality very well.

It is at once more mature and more sexy than the original Eros (and edp). The firey sillage that this emits is beautiful; and the traditional EROS slap of citrus you get in it's wake is both expected yes, but more refined. On top of that FLAME really performs well!

Whenever you think the fragrance has finally subsided, it hits you with another sweet, fire-kissed whiff. When the citrus is ultimately reduced to a skin scent, the FLAME somehow returns for another round.

It's like a fever you can't sweat out!
