Fruity Black Tea on a Rainy Day
I had the opportunity to sniff this when I was in Bologna. I've been gravitating towards tea scents–my favourites in my fragrance wardrobe being Winter Palace by Memo, Journey Woman by Amouage, Osmanthus by To Summer and Thé Noir 29 by Le Labo.
Encore du Temps opens with a watery osmanthus note with hints of fruitiness, wrapped in a cocoon of white florals. What I didn't expect was the drydown which was bittersweet, slightly dirty and very indolic–the closest scent association I can think of is the green, earthy smell of chrysanthemum stems from when my mum used to place on the altar at home.
Very interesting scent that I find myself sniffing my arm throughout the day. It's not blind-buy safe, so do try it out. It's a sensual fragrance with a bitter edge. Performance is excellent in the winter, but I think it'll truly shine when it's warmer out.
It's been a few days since I sniffed this and I am constantly being haunted by this unique scent. I might just make the jump and get myself a bottle.
Soft Spicy Almonds
Creamy, milky almonds without being cloying, slightly spicy anise which is somewhat fleeting. For some reason, I detect coconut and condensed milk in the base. Similar to Hypnotic Poison EDT, but Confetto is denser and not as airy. It's a comforting scent that I can see myself reaching for in the colder months, but I ended up getting Dolce Acqua for versatility. My husband said it doesn't smell like almonds at all, just downright plasticine–which might have influenced my decision.
Maybe one day, I'll get myself a bottle of Confetto.
Herbal Green Vanilla
I never thought I'd be completely enamoured by a green vanilla scent. Like, ever. One of my all-time favourites is Mon Guerlain which is the most beautiful lavender and vanilla scent I've ever sniffed.
My bottle of Soie Malaquais looked a bit lonely on my shelf and I decided to explore more of Dries Van Noten's scents. Only to fall madly in love with Camomille Satin. A herby, comforting vanilla scent that blends the softness of chamomile and the delicateness of lavender. It's a scent that reminds me of days at home where I am snuggled in bed with my Kindle, reading until I lose myself to a lavender-scented dream.
Chestnuts Wrapped in Silk
One of the smoothest fragrances I own, Soie Malaquais is the ultimate elegant scent for me–as if the bottle isn't the epitome of luxury.
Tart, jammy rose in the opening, followed by roasted chestnuts dusted in cocoa powder–unlike anything I've ever smelled. It's a scent that I'll go back to time and time again when I want smell like I am living my best life.
Flaky Almond Croissant
I've been on the hunt for a comforting scent that is overly gourmand and I came across this scent when I was exploring almond scents. After a few wears, it's an understatement that Chemin D'Amande makes my top 5 favourite gourmand scents of all time. It's a gorgeous, almond scent with whiffs of wheat and vanilla that is the perfect amount of sweet, airy and addictive.
"Toasted sweet almonds on a flaky, buttery croissant with notes of oat milk" is how I'd describe Chemin D'Amande. Creamy without being too cloying or sickly sweet. This scent shines especially during colder months and I am falling in love with it a little bit more at every wear.
