I am a fan of layering fragrances, and with AI I have discovered so much about layering, I dont like sweet fragrances, but there are a few exceptions here and there, Liam which I enjoy very much, but the sweetness gets a bit cloying from time to time, making me not to reach for the fragrance as much as often as I would want But with help of AI, I learnt I can use a powdery, woody, oriental fragrance like
Luban Absolute to tame the sweetness that turns to be cloying. On the other hand, luban absolute can be a bit harsh and overwhelming, but when the two are layered together, the real magic happens. It turns out that I can enjoy both scents because the sweet one is softened, and the luban's incense is softened by Liam's sweetness as well. This is the perfect balance for me, and I had no idea I needed it. I understand that some of us are hesitant to trust and use AI to our advantage. I am glad I did; it has done wonders for my perfume collection. The layering combinations I have discovered through my collection expand my collection, and I am enjoying it even more. There is never a dull moment.

After reading your post, I tried to ask ChatGPT about layering. Its answers are surprisingly elaborated. For example, with Rive Gauche (2003) I am wearing today, it suggests
Molecule 01 ,
Vanille Insensée ,
Ambre sultan Eau de Parfum,
Neroli Portofino Eau de Parfum and
Colonia Eau de Cologne and give some explanations about its choices.
So why not having a perfumed fun with the AI ?
Everything genAI "generates" is just stolen work. Just read the original human-authored reviews and advice.
I like discovering things for myself. AI has its uses, but I hate giving the reins to my life completely over to an algorithm. Plus, don`t care much for layering.

"Exactly! AI is meant to complement our individual preferences and experiences, not to replace them. It can suggest combinations we might not have considered, helping us rediscover fragrances in our collection in new ways. I love how it has provided you with reasoning behind its recommendations, making it an educational tool rather than just a random generator. At the end of the day, it's all about having fun and experimenting—AI just makes that process even more exciting!" I also enjoy the deeper explanations, which educate me based on my fragrance collection.

Thank you, @Raluko111 at first, I used to do the same, yes, but at times there were too many errors, and it was time-consuming because I am not a perfumer. I am simply attracted to enhancing my experience and wanting to smell unique, also because I work in an office where there are a lot of males with the same or similar taste for fragrances, and with the help of AI, I am at an advantage with my combos. Its not that it doesn't get it wrong at times, but it saved me time. I think that is why I gravitated towards the tool.

I see where you`re coming from, but it saddens me that people no longer have the patience and interest to explore and find things out on their own. Can`t spell? Get Grammarly! Can`t write in another language? Get DeepL! I don`t know, I think it just takes the flavor out of life and makes us dependent and dulls our senses. Good things take time. Experience takes time. People no longer have the patience to discover things for themselves, everything needs instant gratification at the push of a button. But, that`s just my two cents. To each, his own.
Just tried AI to workshop layering combos for some challenging perfume oils and one seems like it might work for me.
My hit rate for manually searched and selected fragrances earning permanent(-ish) placement in my collection is probably less than 5%, and my successful layering attempts are but a fraction of that. The amount of hours spent researching, finding samples/decants, price comparing, and testing, while fun, can get tedious. Even with AI, I spent a not insignificant amount of time skin testing about 15 combos and used my noggin power focused on whether or not I enjoyed the combo.
I even used it to whittle down my Watch List by a good 25% based on the data I gave it on my preferences.
I don't intend to follow the recommendations blindly, ofc. It's a tool. Use it, don't use it, do what works for you.
Absolutely not. Hard pass from me. I don’t use/believe in AI. I avoid it whenever possible. Except Siri, lol, I guess I’m a hypocrite.
