Original Vetiver

I only really knew Polo Eau de Toilette and when I smelled Original Vetiver I thought “I didn’t know someone could smell like this.”

I bought It straight from Creed as I didn’t know about discounters yet. And that’s when things took off.

Opium (1977) Eau de Toilette and Poison Eau de Toilette... I smelled them on my grandmother when I was about four or five years old, and something shifted in me. From that moment on, I started playing with the fragrances in her collection more and more over the years. I would always “steal” a spray or two whenever I could! 😄

First ever fragrance was Drakkar Noir Eau de Toilette in the second grade.

However, Green Irish Tweed and Millésime Impérial got me hooked

It was Issey Miyake Pour Homme. First time I bought a designer with my money and was really hooked on how the Yuzu stood out. Also the first bottle that I used every drop haha

Not the first one you ever tried, but the first one that made you start to appreciate perfume on a deeper level, start being curious about what was out there, or began your quest for the perfect scent. Which one was it?

For me it was African Leather Eau de Parfum . I was probably sixteen or so, bored in an airport terminal, and wandering around the duty-free area. My main associations with perfumes before had been cheap-and-cheerful fruity florals, which smelled nice but didn't really feel like me. I'm not sure why I picked this one (probably because of the big cat on the bottle), but it blew my mind. This was before the big gourmand boom, I had no idea smelling like spices was even an option! And I'd definitely never heard of Memo Paris before... what else might I not know about? Years of curiosity and research later and here we are now. My tastes have broadened but I still get excited when I smell a cardamom fragrance lol

Did anyone else have a similar journey? What kick-started it?

When I was about 13 I begged for a bottle of Hugo Eau de Toilette (I think I just liked the bottle) and that was my first "real" fragrance. As an adult bothTouch for Men Eau de Toilette and Very Irrésistible Givenchy for Men Eau de Toilette were my reintroduction into the scented world. And now twenty plus years later I'm essentially pedal to the metal in the hobby.
