Canadian Summers
by Telekinec | Perfume Discussions
...Hey there! A fellow canadian :DAlthough I do get what you're saying since Canada has plenty beautiful and lush forests that offer woody, fresh and spicy scents, I still associate summer with heat and beaches. Experiences are different for anyone, but I'm glad you mentioned toasted marshmallows as I associate those treats with summer and fall. I think that AprèsAprès would fit your summer vibe. I haven't tried it yet (even though I have the vial) but I've heard so many people saying it's a perfect perfume that reminds them of coniferous forests.

Things you never thought you'd start collecting
by Telekinec | Off Topic
...I never thought I'd be collecting lipsticks or perfumes because when I was young I had absolutely no interest in beauty related things (haircare, skincare, bodycare, makeup and the likes). Now I have a few lipsticks, perfumes and I even have started collecting setting powder (but that's because I'm trying them all).

What are your favourite and least favourite bottle designs?
by Telekinec | Perfume Discussions
...I love simple minimalistic but luxurious designs like Armani Privé - Thé YulongArmani Privé - Thé Yulong , Vanilla | 28Vanilla | 28 , "Salt | Ellis" , Fall CashmereFall Cashmere .On the other hand, gaudy and tacky bottles; or bottles that try too hard to be something they're not like Mod VanillaMod Vanilla or Good Girl (Eau de Parfum)Good Girl Eau de Parfum annoy me.

De-Influencing ?
by Telekinec | Off Topic
...I think that the whole aspect of de-influencing comes from the makeup community. Everybody knows there are a lot of products that get their 5 minutes of glory because they are recommended by influencers and then become viral (which causes stock problems, but that's another story). People were getting sick of products being recommended by influencers with fake positive reviews when in real life these products are often not that good. I think the de-influencing trend comes from a good place, although it has turned into a somewhat virla topic (which kind of negates the whole point of it, but hey). I think de-influencing has bled into the perfume community (I have heard this term being used a few times through Instagram Reels / Tik Tok and Youtube, but I'm from Canada) as a way to stop people from buying overhyped perfumes. For example, I know many people threw themselves at the You (Eau de Parfum)You Eau de Parfum when it became available on Sephora Canada / US without making their research first. It also became quite viral on social media. I then saw de-influencing posts about You (Eau de Parfum)You Eau de Parfum telling people why they shouldn't buy it. Sure, it's on these gullible people to do their research before buying any and everything, but at the same time, I think it's a nice trend. I think that with de-influencing posts, we get better reviews by people that are not necessarily influencers.I don't think it's connected to slow-buy or low-buy although de-influencing does have an impact. I thin kthese trends all come from a good place: trying to avoid waste and asking people to really do their research instead of jumping on the first hype-train.

Unsolicited messages from new accounts
by Telekinec | Parfumo Community
...I haven't received any messages of the sort, but maybe a deep clean of the Parfumo accounts could be down once a year or once every 2 / 5 10 years to garantee a good community and help prevent trolls.I'm compltely with you that there should be a system in place to prevent those types of things from happening. It can be annoying.

Best Rose Perfumes ?
by Telekinec | Perfume Discussions
...There's Lancôme Idôle for your basic rose fragrance (one of its flankers, Lancôme Idôle Aura smells like slated roses). There's also Under The Lemon Tress. Smells like fresh green tea with lemon, but the middle note is a nice refined and sophisticated rose perfume.

Perfumes subscriptions... Yes or Nope
by Telekinec | Perfume Discussions
...About two months ago I almost pulled the trigger and bought a subscription from ScentBird, but I stopped because I saw various reviews about it (positive and negative). I did a bit of research on other subscription services and some seem to offer a nice inventory of niche and designer with below the normal prices for a travel sized perfume. So I would say yes but ...Like Kurai said it depends on your wearing habits. For example, I'm someone who has limited space for full bottles of perfume so I go by this rule: I try sampler vials (often 1.5ml) then if I finish and like it I move on to the travel size (often around 10ml), then I go on to the next size (30ml, 50ml) and so on. I prefer having the original travel size from a company, but some do not make travel sizes (which is sad and a whole other story). This is where a subscription service can come in handy if they offer decants of the perfume you're looking after. Most offer decants at a nice price so it can be fun if you like wearing different types of perfumes. On the other hand, some people don't like accumulating vials of perfume samples since a 10ml is often time a month of wearing the perfume (if you don't like it at first sniff, you're kind of doomed). Like Cocopah said, there is also the question of environment and waste that tends to accumulate. To make it short: it depends on how much you want to spend on fragrances, if the catalogue of the subscription service offers what you're searching for and il you want to test out different fragrances. It's basically up to you!

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by Telekinec | Parfumo Community
...Hey there! I'm (27F) a librarian from Canada. I use French and English as my language so you can talk to me in either!I started my journey into the magnificient world of fragrances after I started my allergy desensitization in 2022. I realized I was now able to get close to fragrances without all the snot and tears that came with my allergic reaction. I love testing out fragrances through Sephora and Shopper's Drug Market, although I also have access to The Hudson Bay (in Quebec) and TJMaax. I'm still wary of discovering fragrances through shipping only.i'm a gourmand lover above all else. I love sweet, sugary but not too young fragrances. I have also slowly been looking at other type of scent families, such as fruity and floral scents. I've been using Reddit and Fragrantica for keeping up with my hobby, but I'm happy to have stumbled upon this website! I still have a lot to learn!

How did you hear about Parfumo?
by Telekinec | Parfumo Community
...I saw the name pop up in a Reddit thread on r3Fragrances. I reguarly use Fragrantica, but I really love the modern look here (dark mode, overall site quality, images, text font) and the fact that you can post articles for your own blog. I also love the many options we have in terms or reviewing and classifying our fragrances.
