SILVER MOUNTAIN WATER by Creed
Olivier Creed's inspiration for Silver Mountain Water was the clean, crisp streams that rush through the Swiss Alps. Olivier, a champion skier himself, should know exactly how to put Switzerland in a bottle, right?

Silver Mountain Water opens with a child-like punch of citrus. The bergamot and mandarin here are dried and candied, not freshly squeezed. As a result, the citrus notes are overall less sharp. Perhaps the neroli's bitterness prevents the bergamot and mandarin from seeming fresh. The citrus opening is unfortunately extremely short-lived. The heart notes are my favorite because of the sea scent, green tea and black currant. These blend nicely with the residue of the citrus top notes. I do pick up a little bit of sea scent or slightly aquatic notes, but they are vague. An inky note seems to present itself and its probably the black currant with its sharp, bittersweet nature. The heart notes evolve into a steamy cup of tea, perhaps even a nice Earl Grey. This note is slightly smoky, it has a light floral quality and just a touch of something aged. The base notes of sandalwood and musk are very subdued and quiet. These two notes give Silver Mountain Water a very light earthiness and animalistic quality to an otherwise fresh type of fragrance.

Silver Mountain Water is a good warm weather fragrance. The only issue with this fragrance is its longevity. Silver Mountain Water fades out quickly, after about the 4 hour mark. Many fragrance wearers have complained about the longevity of this scent. Compliments inevitably will be handed out when wearing Silver Mountain Water. People experiencing the mild sillage of this scent have had positive responses.

Very nice but... familiar?
When I first sprayed this the metallic opening was pretty much exactly what I expected. The dry down is what surprised me. The almost creamy/fuzzy floral mid reminded me of something. I couldn't put my finger on it but after checking the 'smells like' section it came to me immediately. It smells like the CK One Eau de Toilette dry down. I will say this it's better than cK one, maybe not $300 better but better none the less.

Overall, this is a very nice scent if you can get it for less (way less?) than retail. Otherwise I feel like you can get much better value elsewhere.

Edit: this has become a go to freshie for me. This scent is gorgeous and stays on clothes for longer than expected.

Something different
Silver montain water was the second Creed fragance i sample and tested, i don't really understood notes or doesn't really care about it at the time.
At first (many years a go) i really loved how the perfume made me feel. It was something different, litle bit outdated maybe, but, damn nothing like the blues or that generic feell the market as giving us!
Now 2021 i "found" my sample while searching for old goddies, and i don't know why but after the test never give any other chance to this, let's try it one more time...
SMW, opens with a Bright, sharp, citrus vibe, neroli and bergamot are perdominant at this point.
That will pass to a salty sea brease feeling but in a few minutes vanish and we start to notice the real back bone!
Powdery, creamy, leaves, with a touch of tea supported with sandalwood and ambergris maybe... I think this is perfect for spring/summer, makes you feel clean, fresh and classy with a touch of that Creed old 90's DNA!
This is Something different that i will Invest on This summer for sure!

Not *My* Mountain...
Silver Mountain Water pretty much blends all of its notes into an amalgamation of sharp citric bergamot orange, somewhat bracing green tea and an underlying metallic accord that permeates the entire fragrance (I would say development, but I get none on skin). Projection is average and longevity is on the low-end of average at 6-8 hours on skin.

I tried Silver Mountain Water years ago and did not care much for it, throwing out my sample. After having been impressed recently with another Creed release, Jardin d'Amalfi, I decided to purchase another sample of Silver Mountain Water to see if I was just too hasty back then... Well, to cut to the chase, the short answer is "no". This stuff reminds me very much of Creed's superior composition Millesime Imperiale that was released the same year sans the metallic accord, but with added watermelon up top and a bit of saltiness throughout. I think my primary dislike for Silver Mountain Water is derived from it being such a lazy composition that doesn't develop, and the underlying metallic vibe does not work. The bottom line is if you *must* have this kind of a fragrance by Creed before purchasing the overpriced slightly below average rated 2 to 2.5 star Silver Mountain Water, check out the equally overpriced Millesime Imperial for a more complete and polished presentation of the same base accord.

An echo from above
One of the best fragrances I came across.
Very bright, clean and milky, creamy.
The citrusy accord is there and the green tea mixed with the blackcurrant gives it a very calming vibe. The drydown will also be heavenly : woody, rich and still creamy to my nose. Besides the fact that the smell is heavenly we must appreciate the uniqueness. I didn't have the opportunity to smell any of its clones but I just went for the original, thinking that the quality of a Creed cannot be easy to replicate. I see why it's marked as unisex, being a gentle and subtle, innofensive kind of fragrance. My #1 Creed at the moment.
I don't care about the negative comments that are thrown in its direction.
Here comes the truth : Performance was unreal for me. 14+ hours as a skin scent, but I gave it a medium score because it really was at its peak in the first 6-7 hours, with a decent projection (More than an elbow's lenght) for about 2 hours.
Very versatile for the spring and summer and maybe pushing a bit in the fall as well. Anywhere, anytime in those 3 seasons, easily, taking in consideration the number of sprays.
I encourage you to try it first and see if it's for you. I ain't gonna let my girl use this one. No way babe.
Btw, my batch is from 2019 if this helps.
Fantastic release ! Bravo Creed !

SMW opens fresh, citrusy and aquatic. Then some floral notes appear blended with green tea and sandalwood. Boring scent and poor performance

Its a blast of inkyness and coolness. Not overly blackcurrant; more of a novel tea scent that starts off with a wow but then evaporates fast

After hearing so much about it I wasn't disappointed but not exactly impressed. It smells like cold water in fall. Pleasant but not exciting

Quite nice and fresh, but the bergamot and neroli quickly turns a bit soapy. Not a favourite among the Creeds.

Gives off a cool icy metallic vibe like a breath of cool fresh air. Dries down somewhat floral. Quality scent but not for me ultimately.

This is my go to for a fresh bright scent in the winter! Mefisto is so close but SMW does it better. Easily signature scent worthy.

Fresh-citrusy masc aromatic with aquatic notes & some barbershop DNA. A tad smoother than the Casamoratis, but the performance is way worse.

Nice tea transitioning to a subdued musk. Extremely poor longevity and sillage. (Latest versions must be diluted to the max).

It's on my wish list. Loved the top notes and the dry down, not so much for the heart though.
