Where's the niche?
A review in anticipation of my 2024 rankings, Mystic Bliss finishes the year as the 2nd worst overall release with the lowest rating handed out this year. In many ways, Mystic Bliss has many of the same weak points as my worst release in 2023, that being Kilian's Blue Moon Ginger Dash: we are talking about designer-quality products with no performance, blending or value upside.

The scent opens with some promise: the mint and the fig bring a lively fruity-green top to Mystic Bliss that might make some think this is a contender for the top release of the year. However, the evolution is where the true colors of this scent are revealed. In terms of structure, the scent is intensely designer in its quality and smells very much synthetic. The core of the fragrance is made up by the masculine-aromatic heart with the clary sage and geranium, offering up some chemical-like nuances as well. The fig & mint notes fade out fairly quickly, leaving a very generic product that is being compared to products from brands like Hugo Buss and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

It feels like a tale of two stories with Mystic Bliss, given the opening felt like a high-quality product that would sit somewhere between Matiere's Parisian Musc Eau de Parfum and various Le Labo fragrances. Ultimately, the blend never improves after the highlighted top accords fade into obscurity. The performance on the product is very much poor: it has intimate sillage with the aromatic DNA lasting around 4 hours tops. I believe it was designed as a unisex fragrance for the spring & summer seasons. Even with this scent retailing for €155/100ml, I cannot, in good faith, rate the value for this type of slop more than a 1/10.

A bit disappointing
I bought a small decant of Mystic Bliss because the notes sounded interesting, and was somehow disappointed in how this smells like a few other perfumes, while maintaining a vague designerish vibe. Even if I didn't end up wholly disliking this, I would not buy a full bottle nor a travel size. The mint in the opening is very refreshing, but it quickly gets overpowered by a sort of chemical smell that I can't quite attribute to one of the notes listed here. As it dries down, Mystic Bliss echoes Gris Charnel's dirtiness for me, and that makes me like it even less.

The Perfect November Day
In search of inspiration for a winter fragrance, I came across Goldfield & Banks - a brand I was not familiar with. It was a good first encounter, as I found all the scents in the Native Collection interesting. However, I ended up choosing "Mystic Bliss | Goldfield & Banks," even though it is not a true winter scent for me.

Mystic Bliss starts off cool, but not fresh. It’s more like a morning walk in late autumn: a cool mist still lingers over the fields. The ground smells of leaves. The air is a bit biting. The body is warmly wrapped up, but the mind becomes clear.

Then a sweet warmth emerges: fig and caramel become cozy, balanced with a floral spice. It feels comforting and slightly matte - like returning to a warm house.

The sweetness lingers for a few hours, then becomes more subtle and transitions into a woody-earthy base that can still be distinctly perceived in the clothing the next day. This has a calming effect on me.

I find Mystic Bliss intriguing. I have rarely experienced such a strongly contrasting scent development from cool to warm. It is not an everyday fragrance, but rather something special. For me, it fits perfectly into the (seasonal) time.

The Green Heart of Flinders Island
Mystic Bliss transports you to the wild, fascinating Flinders Island, a Tasmanian island that enchants with its rugged, rocky beauty and lush vegetation. At the heart of this olfactory journey is the fig tree, whose fruity notes form the core of the fragrance.
The fig is the undisputed star of Mystic Bliss, unfolding its seductive fruitiness from top to base note. It is accompanied by woody and green accents that perfectly reflect the island's diverse flora. A delicate floral nuance of Kunzea, a plant native to Flinders Island, subtly resonates in the background, adding a gentle rounding to the fragrance.
Cardamom and caramel emerge subtly in the fragrance development after a few minutes, adding an unexpected depth to the initially green, woody fig scent. These warm components never overshadow the fig but perfectly complement it, without making the perfume too spicy or sweet. The promised incense remains elusive for me, but I do not miss it, as the fragrance stands perfectly on its own without it.
Mystic Bliss is a rather skin-close, understated scent that lingers on my skin for about six hours - making it ideal for warmer days. What I particularly love is its uniqueness. It deviates from the usual, often fresh or sweet fig scent and instead presents itself as a woody-fruity-green work by Florian Gallo and Firmenich. A fragrance composition that I have never experienced before and that I can wholeheartedly recommend everyone to try.

Opens minty fig with a moderate sweetness, but it dries with a very poor aromatic designer quality like various JPG/Hugo Boss products.

Reminds me of samples my grandma gave me in the 80s and wore too much of (and probably too many of at a time). A little busy for my taste.

A nice little freshie that sits decidedly unisex. Not 'full bottle purchase' worthy, but definitely worth grabbing a 5ml sample. 7/10.

Creamy fruity fig. Fresh mint. Clary sage for a subtle and interesting floral.

Juicy fig green with a hint of mint, accompanied by woods, tiny traces of caramel, and an iris waving from the sidelines.*

Its inspiration is Gris Charnel.
Nice try.
Unfortunately, it misses the mark completely.

Fresh, green opening with fig and floral accents; evolves into a dry, slightly earthy drydown, minimally sweet - underrated.

Grand Opening, poor Drydown: Initially fig-fruity, woody-green, enveloping, then just flat.

I'm disappointed. A bland fig scent without any strength. A bit of fig, herbal and woody, and that's it..
