Journey of a tear
“Tears are ice that melts in the soul” -H.Hesse-
Pioggia Salata wants to represent the journey of a drop of water, which takes on increasingly characteristic scents: I saw in it what a tear does.
A crystalline, almost understated start, which then takes on initially flowery tones (when it falls from our eyes) and then becomes salty (I see it as it falls on the lips, and we feel the flavour).
Everything goes out and becomes flowery, clean again, representing a sort of redemption. A liberating cry, which cleanses the soul of pain, which cleans us.
Beautiful fragrance, I would really love to wear it.
Medium sillage and persistence, to be worn on any occasion, it gives me peace of mind.

Starts out stellar, Ends up average
I love the concept of Pioggia Salata -- dewy rain and salty air. It starts off soft, moist and a bit salty. I would have bought a full bottle if Pioggia Salata stayed a linear fragrance, if only for a few hours. If only ...

As Pioggia Salata dries, the lily develops to dominate the scent. Unfortunately, this white floral accord simply ruins it for me. I'm sensitive to some white floral accords and this is certainly one of them. Moreover, what started as a truly unisex fragrance actually becomes a full-force feminine white floral in the heart.

When dry, the fragrance has a green, watery quality that borders on vegetal. It's lovely but the strong white florals are still there, albeit in a supporting role. Although marked EdP, it wears more like a dried down cologne.

Pioggia Salata could have been stellar but ends up average.

Vespa in a salad
Aquatic. I was warned. I don't like aquatic perfumes. Or so I thought.

Grandpa has a small concrete pond in the garden. One he built himself. Painted swimming pool colors. The rainwater runs into it. Normally. He drains the pond from time to time. Cleans it out. Fills it with water again. Clear water from the tap. It's warm. I'm 10. Lying on my stomach. On my stomach in front of the pond. And let my new plastic sailing boat float on the mirror-smooth pond. There are actually two of them. One with a red hull, one with a blue one.

No wind. I blow the wind. They set course across the glassy ocean. Breathe in deeply. That unmistakable smell. The smell of fresh water. Water that is actually odorless. I will smell it again later.

I'm 18. We went to the Reihersee with the gang. In the middle of the night. The Reihersee is actually a river. The Neetze. It widens there. We puzzle over items of clothing. Who will be the first? Or the first. Without any swimming trunks.

I swim across the lake. To the other side. The side with the aquatic plants. With the shells. I think of my sailing ship. Of the red one. Back then. Back then with grandpa. At Grandpa's in the garden. At grandpa's pond.

There it is again. The smell. From back then. The heron lake. Grandpa's pond. I step on a shell. Merde alors! Cursing. Swim back.

Peter looks at me with big green eyes. I see Pavlov in them. Peter is the village cat. Advises me on perfume. Sounds silly, but it's true. Pioggia Salata. Just his thing. Peter likes ponds. Peter likes goldfish. Peter likes the neighbor's goldfish best. Peter likes pioggia salata. I know that. About the goldfish. And the smell, too. You can't miss it.

He's slowly becoming more florid. Peter doesn't like it so much, makes jokes. He talks about Italian scooters in salad à la tonno and can't help grinning.

An absolute must-have for aquatic lovers. And if you want to know what a lake smells like in the dark, I recommend a blind buy. He won't regret it. Or you will.
