A thick, sticky, resinous aroma with veins of smoky evergreen and tendrils of sticky toffee. The darkest, heaviest sibling of the DvN pantheon. There’s something indulgent about this scent; I’d probably enjoy wearing this potion out for cocktails, but wouldn’t want to go the whole day swimming in it. When I run out of this tester I will be sad, but I don’t think I’d use it nearly enough to rationalise a whole bottle.

Longevity: strongest sillage of the lot and admirable endurance (>10h on my skin)

Mental Snapshot: You’re a goddess made flesh; a high priestess being worshipped before a beach bonfire. Your acolytes line the forested bluffs above, singing your name. You’re definitely getting laid tonight.

Tl;dr: if I were a prehistoric wasp, I’d get ensnared in this amber.

Herbal myrrh...

I was very curious about the fragrance and that's why I held it under my nose as the first fragrance from the Discovery Set. These perfumes definitely need skin to develop properly. They smell completely different on the paper strips than on the skin.

Rock the Myrrh starts super resinous and myrrh is, as the name suggests, the absolute protagonist here. The fragrance exudes a very beautiful, herbal warmth. Like the evening breeze in the desert. However, the fragrance is not soft, but has a real edge. 100% oriental vibes are guaranteed here. Immediately after spraying, a very beautiful cypress radiates, which gives the fragrance a beautiful, very herbal note. Then, like a powerful desert storm, comes a very resinous myrrh that packs a punch. The fragrance is well supported by a very earthy patchouli, which becomes increasingly dominant but never displaces the myrrh. Soft leather becomes more and more present in the drydown and the labdanum also comes out very clearly in the drydown, which in combination with the myrrh and the very earthy patchouli, makes the fragrance look quite masculine to me.

An absolute oriental firecracker with great sillage, which smells warm, herbal and inviting but is unfortunately far too masculine for me. Great fragrance but not for me .

Advent, Advent... the myrrh remains subtle

Rock the Myrrh is a fragrance that makes its presence felt right from the start.
On the test strip, it immediately fascinated me... an exciting combination of spicy, resinous and sweet leathery notes that is intense and multi-layered. But as soon as I wore it on my skin, it felt a little overwhelming for my taste. The top note in particular overwhelms me, at least when I wear the fragrance myself.

The fragrance opens with a sharp, almost pungent intensity. The spicy notes (pepper, saffron?) are particularly dominant here and create a powerful image. After a few minutes, I also notice a leather and alcohol note, even though no alcohol is listed.
Gradually, however, the fragrance changes: the sweetness increases noticeably and an interesting depth emerges, which I associate with a sweetish resin or even a composition reminiscent of Sugar Leather in the drydown.
Yes, there is myrrh involved, but it remains subtle.
Patchouli also remains subtle, Siam Nenzoe provides warmth.

What makes Rock the Myrrh difficult for me is its exceptionally strong sillage. The fragrance surrounds you like an aura and demands attention... sometimes more than I would wish. It develops a strong presence on the skin, which became too much for me after wearing it for a long time, although the individual components are quite appealing.

I could imagine that this fragrance is a real hit for lovers of opulent, resinous and sweet leather compositions. For me personally, however, it remains more of a fragrance that I appreciate but cannot wear myself.
