Blacker phantom

I admit, this was a love at first sniff. From the time it was sprayed on my skin, seeing the juice sit on my forearm, it radiated with quality. Mentor is a sweet gourmand coffee and caramel fragrance with fruity nuances. After a full wearing, another fragrance kept coming to mind. Black Phantom - Memento Mori is similar but Mentor is stronger and smells of higher quality. The Boya oud in here is a new note to me. I don't get much, if any, oud at all and think it's meant to add performance to the fragrance. Fall- winter date night staple. Unisex, slightly masculine. The fragrance comes in a box with a vial of amber and another of the boya oud.

Update: initial spray gives you that fruity, ambery liqueur. The majority of the fragrance experience is coffee, Amber and caramel. The experience ends with the smoothest skin scent of caramel and amber. Chef's kiss!

Mentor Mind Games

I found this fragrance to be OK. It wasn’t mind blowing. Wasn’t something done before I still prefer defense by mind games a wonderful cherry note. This one was just OK. i’m not sure that I would pay the asking price maybe a small decant wouldn’t be bad to have on the side for going to a club or something like that even a date would be OK just not a very special fragrance in my opinion and I’ve worn I will say that I have not tried all from this house. I do I do intend to explore more.

Iommi Monkey Special Improved

A better more wearable Tony Iommi Monkey Special. Remove the patchouli that makes it stink to some, and then add that Mind Games Fruity DNA instead. Its fizzy, fruity, caramel with rose Oud combo that adds a dirty touch to it instead of the rum

If you wanted to smell Monkey Special from another persons nose this hits the mark pretty well

It was this or Gambit for me at Nordstrom…

… and I chose the latter.

This is GREAT, don’t get me wrong, but for $395, I made SURE I got the one I REALLY wanted.

The opening on this is interesting; I definitely got the coffee notes immediately, and scent began its diverse transformation on my skin.

The Mind Games scents are incredible in my opinion. I’m definitely going to grow my collection of their line. They ALL transform and morph throughout the on skin experience.

This one starts with a very dark, very rich coffee vibe. Like a Baileys “Irish Car Bomb” made with thick caramel and Jameson. Super sweet and sticky caramel. You can DEFINITELY feel the liquor. As it evolves into the mid and dries down it becomes more and more gourmand, and it projects the entire time.

To me it feels like a much higher quality, alcoholic version of the Stronger With You line.

This is why I chose Gambit over this. I have so many sweet frags, that I don’t need this one… YET.

Projection is a solid 3-5ft bubble, but the silage is forever. Skin longevity is also eternal. Easily over 10 hours on my skin. $395 though? I’ve said it before I am an absolute junkie collector of frags, so I’m stupid enough to do it. I’d be much happier if Mind Games came down to $250 or less.

Mind games - all synthetic bombs for me

I would love to like the fragrances from Mind Games. Tried numerous and was disappointed by all of them.
Mentor is lovely on my skin for the first hour. My environment smells it strongly, it smells like coffee and something fruity. Then it turns. The pungent synthetics come through, which also accompany me with The Forward and Queening after an hour and don't let go. I find it so bad that I want to take a complete perfume break every time because there's nothing else in my head but this pungent smell.

I'm not alone with this problem - but not everyone has it. It's a shame for me, because the bottles are great and I would have loved to add a fragrance to my collection. And the feedback from outside is not negative either. However, the omnipresent, pungent synthetics that never leave my nose really don't match the high price.
