Mid-life Crisis

When sprayed on clothes, the cola accord lingers for hours. Like days after the spray.
But when sprayed on the skin - at least mine - the cola is welcomed with ginger lemon. It has a lovely 'fizzy' opening that feels incredibly classy, fitting for a flirty night out at the bar. About an hour in it settles into a darker mood with the tar, oud, and vetiver coming together. It's quite a contrast from the sparkling opening and I occasionally feel like I'm smelling rubber. After this settles - about 3 hours in - things really settle into an almost sickly cloying vanilla and incense. Felt very generic at this point to me unfortunately.

If you're to wear this one, I suggest spraying on the clothes and your skin so you get the contrast between the sparkling opening and the darker dry down.
It also feels like a younger demographic would wear this, like someone in an awkward young adult phase trying to figure life out. No shade directed with that comment! Just a personal observation. It doesn't quite ooze class, but doesn't quite scream bubbly young energy either; somewhere in the middle.

standing straight in peaceful tenderness.

the himalayan cedar, amidst a lush and fresh-looking yet sun-dried forest from the brief summer, stands present and mindful in its familiar place, deeply rooted in the calcareous soil.

its crown is lush, a testament to health, strength, and a secure stance, yet it occupies only as much space as it needs to gently weave itself into the pulsating organism of the forest. a few individual branches carefully touch some cedar sisters around it. it feels the years and decades of a vibrant life within this strong, well-rehearsed community in its wood.

the warmth of the day has settled into its weathered bark and now radiates outward into the swiftly cooling evening.

in the twilight, an old takin buck comes to it, rubs extensively against its sturdy trunk, and then leans quietly for a while. he is tired. late summer is approaching. in the coming weeks, he will seek a herd to mate one last time. he will not survive the winter. the eternal cycle of life closes. again and again.

tenderness flows through the veins of the cedar. it is grateful for the trust that is shown to it not only by this animal being. and enjoys the quiet, deep peace in the connection with all that is alive.

it starts lightly and citrus-fresh, and from the very beginning, a bright tobacco note lays itself beneath the increasingly emerging, bright, cooling, and fresh-dry spice of ginger and coriander. at this stage, it radiates a powerful straightness to me, a self-evidence in being. perhaps even a kind of invulnerability (in the knowledge that all life is vulnerable).

when after perhaps 2 hours the base increasingly takes over, the scent becomes wonderfully supple and soft enough to bring one to their knees. never creamy or heavy, but always in that bright-dry manner that is already perceptible at the start. sometimes I think I can smell oud, sometimes a tobacco-incense-vetiver mix. it is the vanilla that connects and softens everything without taking away the scent's steadfastness.

overall, the scent is super gentle, close to the skin, and quiet. contemplation and meditation in silent, connected solitude.

Warmer, elegant, and subtle tobacco scent with a hint of exoticism

A very elegant opening, bright, dry, and yet fresh, bright, delicate tobacco leaves, long-dried slices of lemon and bergamot, the pink pepper is nicely present and works together with the tobacco, which becomes more prominent within the first few minutes, everything embraces, even though it remains very smooth, bright, and warm, nothing harsh or edgy.

After 10-15 minutes, a dry, only slightly green coriander joins in, with ginger interpreted as very dry as well, each adding a nice complexity, but also making the tobacco a bit lighter, almost culinary, the citrus notes are now only flickering briefly.

Smoky resin comes in quite early, gently adding after half an hour and subtly lifting the tobacco with a hint of smokiness, after 45-60 minutes then the rest, grassy vetiver, rather dry and subtle oud, only there to underscore, almost unnoticeable on its own (the same applies to the tar) and a present, natural vanilla note adds some depth and rounds it off.

Overall, a very calm, also intimate, but beautifully composed tobacco scent, although officially only in the top note, it lasts a very long time, carried on by the aromatic groups associated with it.

Meditation at Emei Mountain

Silently, the veils of mist creep around the steep rock faces of Mount Emei. The forest lies silently beneath clouds, the air is ginger and cool coriander, the sun still a pale bergamot in the dense haze.
And under the swaying roofs of the rock temple, black tobacco floats in the finest threads, the tar whispers calligraphic images with fleeting gentle strokes on white walls of world escape and vanilla.
Delicately, the breath of sacred resins also smokes in the wooden bowl, the moist grasses further down in the valley, the blue-gray strokes of the pencil sketch of a delicately branched cedar. After a few hours, the images disappear, everything becomes white and silent and empty, as if the deepest moment of metaphysical meditation has arrived.

"Chinese Tobacco" is a quiet, intimate scent, an inner emigration into a green cool mountain world with a simultaneous retreat into cozy spicy smoke and a warming hint of vanilla.
