Step in, Mr. Jeheimrat!
You know your way around my little corner salon ... take a seat.
How may I serve you?
No, don’t worry, coriander is of course at your disposal!
Afternoon festivities? But not if we still have esteemed customers gracing us ...
So, what can I get for you, sir?
Haircut?
Shave, perhaps? But of course, just a moment ...
I'll wrap this towel around you so I don’t get your nice shirt dirty.
What do you mean, sir?
Yesss, autumn is here. Not everyone likes it. But I always say, coriander, I always say, even autumn has its beautiful sides.
Just think of all that golden foliage and the silence as you stroll through the fields ... when a bit of mist rises, that’s something truly extraordinary, wouldn’t you agree, Mr. Jeheimrat?
You see ...
Now please tilt your esteemed head a bit to the other side, so I can shave you better under the chin.
Where was I?
Oh right, silence and autumn and all that.
You see, Mr. Jeheimrat, over the years I’ve come to the realization that as one ages, one begins to seek the quiet, the fine, the subtle. The loud, the brash, and the pretentious eventually become too much.
How may I serve you?
Well, you see, it’s the same for you.
It’s like with fragrances, I’d say, if you’ll allow me to ride my little hobby horse again.
When you’re young, you can’t be loud enough. You have to be bold and sweet and intrusive, like you’re constantly shouting: "Here I am!"
But now, I’m referring to myself, of course, as the years go by.
Oh, thank you very much for that compliment, Mr. Jeheimrat!
Where was I? Oh right, years ...
As a man of the world, we don’t want to scent the entire environment, that’s clear. It should be discreet, and that’s good too. But over time, it shouldn’t just be some fragrance that was appreciated in the past because it had a good sillage.
I always say, coriander, I always say, it’s enough. The whole world has become so infinitely loud, from the music to the clothes to the fragrances. I don’t need to participate in that, if you understand what I mean.
So, now please tilt that noble head all the way back, so I can apply the shaving foam ...
What do you mean, sir?
Yessss, I completely agree with you. A fragrance is primarily something that I want to enjoy for myself. It’s meant for my own niece, after all.
Pardon, how may I serve you?
But of course! You’re absolutely right, Mr. Jeheimrat!
Such a fragrance is not for others, but for oneself. That’s why it’s good when it’s very, very discreet and fine. Just cultured, as I’d like to point out.
Just like a proper haircut, which also belongs to a gentleman. Or a well-groomed shave, as I’d like to point out ...
What do you mean, sir?
Well, there don’t seem to be many fragrances that are so fine and discreet.
But if I may draw the esteemed attention of Mr. Jeheimrat to this little bottle here?
Well, you know me.
Of course, I have something in store for you!
Musk Blanco is what they’ve named this fragrance. You know, moss, as someone whispered to me. Original name, don’t you think?
Well, moss always reminds me of nature, of the forest, of good air. And that’s exactly what this fragrance is too!
It starts off with bergamot, of course, that’s classic. I’m quite taken with the juniper they’ve mixed in. A bit of lemon too, like in Italy, and then lavender. So far, so good, many have done that.
But then suddenly cardamom comes in!
Makes it woody, but fresh.
I love fresh fragrances, with a bit of coolness.
It always gives a certain elegance, don’t you agree, Mr. Jeheimrat?
And then a scoop of cedarwood, and the whole thing is clean, somehow white and pure and like bright light.
How may I serve you?
You see, and that’s precisely the trick!
Of course, it’s clean, it’s bright, and it’s cool. But this fragrance is also so discreet that you can perceive it quite clearly yourself, how it smells, but all the others don’t. Unless they come a bit closer to you ...
Yes, like freshly washed. Clean, I couldn’t think of another word that is so fitting.
What do you mean, sir?
No, it’s clear, it’s not for everyone. Some may find this fragrance boring, but tastes are simply different.
You see, there are also people who don’t come to my little salon because they don’t like the old coriander. And it’s the same with fragrances. What one likes, the other finds dreadful.
I always say, coriander, I always say, everyone can do as they please, but only as long as they don’t disturb others.
And with this white moss, there’s no disturbance, I can assure you.
Personally, I’ve really come to love this stuff. It’s discreet, has a touch of elegance, brightness, lasts long, always makes a good impression, and fits all occasions.
It lifts the spirits and is refreshing.
Would you like to ...?
I thought so.
No, you can definitely risk a little more spritz.
Naaaa ...?
I knew it.
You like it, as I can see, exceptionally!
You see, and this is a step when, like me, you come to the conclusion that you want to reduce.
Fewer fragrances, but really good ones.
And not just good, but also reserved.
Reduction is the magic word.
And with this White Moss, you’re in the best hands, I give you my word!
Thank you very much, Mr. Jeheimrat!
As always, a recommendation for the esteemed Mrs. Jemahlte!
Do come back soon!
