Zafferano Acqua di Parma 2022

tested yesterday during my visit to the Printemps de bellecour store in Lyon.

I had seen several ads on the internet talking about this perfume. a very good surprise, a fresh perfume ideal for summer.

We immediately smell an orange smell but it is not a common smell, perhaps because it is enhanced by the saffron which is barely perceptible. This is a winning combo that will allow you to refresh yourself and stand out because it has a pleasant and unusual scent.

I plan to buy it for next summer.

It reminds me of the feeling of the warmth on the skin in the evening after a day at the beach, under the sun.

This is my first encounter with Acqua di Parma. I first smelled it at the airport before a trip to Tenerife, drawn in by its name—I had never heard of or even imagined a saffron-based fragrance before. I'm young and only recently stepping into this world. I sprayed it again on my way back, at sunset, with all the beautiful memories a vacation carries.

It opens magnificently—fresh, intense, almost unexpected for me. Then comes an explosion of floral notes that give it elegance and make it unisex (as much as categorization makes sense). It closes with a powdery, sweet, almost gourmand and softer tone, like a gradual diminuendo; like the day fading into the evening breeze, like its sweeter, more sensual notes dissolving. Saffron is the thread that ties it all together from opening to dry down, lending it coherence and a glimpse of the East through a sunlit window.

After the trip, the scent lingered on my T-shirt, in my drawer, for almost a month—gradually fading into softer notes of vanilla and tonka bean.

Tonight, it arrived in its elegant black packaging, and it made me as happy as I was returning from that trip.

I was surprised by its sillage, at least in the first hour—it makes itself known and sparks curiosity; people like it. Then, it becomes more intimate, lingering on the skin for 5-6 hours and on clothes for even longer, present without shouting. It's expensive, like everything in the Signatures of the Sun line, but if you search well enough, as always, you can find it at more accessible prices.

Short and sweet: Zafferano is one of the most interesting summer fragrances I have ever smelled. Here, a few citrus fruits have not just been combined with jasmine, a bit of oakmoss, and vetiver; instead, a nearly unique, fresh interplay of those very fruits and fine saffron has been created.

Admittedly, oriental saffron and a dark rose don’t really fit an Italian, fresh summer as AdP always portrays. Yet this fragrance shows how important it is to simply try something new.

Zafferano is not heavy, not sweet, and not gourmand. Zafferano smells refreshingly striking and different, offering an olfactory facet of summer that I had not encountered in this form before.

The scent progression is quite simple; over time, the lemon/tangerine symbiosis fades a bit, while the fragrance never loses its lightness.

Here lies my only criticism: Zafferano performs solidly for a summer fragrance, but for the listed price, it should be more noticeable. It doesn’t have to be a beast mode perfume, but it would be a shame if such a scent no longer envelops you after a short time.

A masculine, clean scent that I envision on an attractive, successful, and very well-groomed man. A guy in a suit who wears it to the office, to a business dinner, or perhaps even on a first date.

I find the fragrance notes misleading; if I had gone by them, I certainly wouldn't have expected this scent.

This perfume smells primarily soapy (very soapy!!!) and clean to me. Somewhere in the background, I also perceive a slight floral note. Nevertheless, it does not smell feminine at all.

Personally, I can imagine it on others, but I couldn't wear it myself. There's something about it that bothers me and gives me a slight sense of discomfort.

Zafferano is much more than just a perfume for me. It is a memory of the warming sun, of sunny vacation days by the sea, and of life in full bloom. This skillfully crafted scent transports me with every spritz to a sunny holiday for the senses ️

The initial explosion of citrus freshness is like the first sip of ice-cold lemon sorbet on a hot summer day. This sparkling revitalization is hard to beat and brings an energy to the day that is simply contagious.

As the name suggests, Zafferano is dominated by saffron, which gives it a warm, almost sensual depth. It’s as if the sun is trapped in a bottle, opening up with every breath. The development of this fragrance is a true journey of discovery. It starts with an explosion of freshness and then evolves into a gentle, cool, and almost soothing presence on my skin. It accompanies me during the day for a good 4 to 5 hours and unfolds particularly well on warm days.

If I had to make a criticism, it would perhaps be that this freshy, like almost all of its brothers and sisters, could benefit from more longevity. However, this rarely bothers me in everyday life, as I always carry a travel spray of the scent with me. The fragrance has absolute signature potential and is recommended for anyone who enjoys citrus, freshness, and woody notes =)
