early afternoon summer breeze

The sun is high, but it isn't too hot yet. A light breeze flows through your hair. A fresh and beautiful and elegant orange smells tickles and refreshes your nose. In my opinion, this might be the best smelling summer sent there is. So light, yet so powerful, undeniably and effortlessly elegant. Yes, it might not be the longest lasting sent but honestly, who cares. I always have my decant with me, it really doesn't take up much space. I really love what Acqua di Parma have done with this and I hope it will serve me for many more summers.

Shut Down, Vol. 2 (1964)

Spearmint gum laced orange popsicle . And a sprig of petitgrain (lemony leaves/twigs) . Like perhaps a mint-forward interpretation of Eau de Rochas Homme replacing the basil. Extremely juicy, as if I doused myself in fresh mandarin zest. The advert and art installation commissioned by AdP perfectly convey the feeling of this scent.

This is quite effervescent in the opening, and a bit more dated in its greenness and sweetness (late 80’s / early 90’s) - think more Aramis New West for Him and Escape, as opposed to say Versace Eros. One could argue a nod to L’Anarchiste in the scent-profile of a floral orange and mint, but here certainly lacking that gothic, cinnamon sandalwood and musk.

Ironically enough, my mind also went to A*Men Ultra Zest and Tauer’s Orange Star as more “contemporary” fragrances - this never going too thick nor heavy nor too sweet. And perhaps a nod to a more “natural” Cedro di Diamante .

Very orange, very green, slightly sweet, slightly off-putting, slightly entrancing . Better than Futura? For me, yes - a perhaps slight return-to-form.

*update: wife purchased this for me after finding a t-shirt in the hamper that kept the fragrance for a few days - asked me what it was, and immediately went online. Very happy summer ahead, and certainly some Brian Wilson on the stereo (recorded in mono)

There are fragrances for dates. You want to please a woman or man on this level too, to create an interesting overall impression, an aura. Attract, entice, and so on. There is a range of perfumes for this. "Pantydropper" should be a good keyword for your own research.

Mandarino di Sicilia is not one of these fragrances. On the other hand, sometimes there is no need for Armor's on-board cannon. Six out of ten adults have bonded in pairs and can skip early stages of initiation, at least internally. This is not to say that all olfactory endeavors should cease with monogamous pair formation. Commitment that goes beyond the basic cleaning of the body continues to pay off. It is an interesting idea to apply Mandarino di Sicilia to this commitment in a figurative sense. However, the truth is much closer. "I'm going to the bathroom for a moment" is enough for 1-2 sprays and will be pleasantly present for a while without dominating the scene. The fragrance works right from the start at close range, is stimulatingly fresh and goes very well with warmth. Category SSD - summer s*x fragrance. I still won't be buying the 100ml or - heaven forbid - 180ml after I've used it up. I'm not twenty anymore! The nice 30ml bottle should be enough.

Mandarino di Sicilia starts off tangerine-scented, then takes on further citrus notes and only releases the components of the base later on. Then it also becomes more complex, at the beginning we are still close to the solitary fragrance oil. Mint can be detected from time to time, but for me it is more of an interplay. My skin absorbs the perfume within two, maximum three hours, but it naturally lasts longer on clothing and hair.

There is nothing new or unique. Nevertheless, it is pleasing and absolutely wearable, not only in bed, but certainly also on a summer walk, in a non-air-conditioned office, at an ice cream parlor, etc.

About the fragrance:

The fragrance is fruity - fresh - has a subtle and non-annoying sweetness and the interplay of heart and base notes is beautifully realized.

The company ADG has not been making the best fragrances in the world for XX years and especially not the fragrances with the best (H/S), but in their price category (next to Chanel and Guerlain) those are in my opinion very high quality and the fragrances somehow almost always give you something = a feeling, imagination / reference or memory and for me it is my childhood! (Thanks for that - ADG)

As usual with the company, the H/S is not the best... . But should this be the brand's fragrances? I suspect not, which is why I don't blame them badly. If we're talking about numbers, then we're talking about 5h to 6h, whereby the fragrance becomes quite skin-deep quite quickly.

The comments, as usual for the brand, are a great strength of the fragrance house. This was the case in the past, was the case yesterday and today and will hopefully never be any different.

The dear money / the purchase price:

I am PITY to talk about whether a purchase makes sense or not, in this respect it is very relative and my views may not be like yours and vice versa... . From a purely commercial point of view (which I am, among other things) I can say = test it, then we'll see!

Very natural mandarin with light mint and other citrus notes

The fragrance was recommended to me in a perfumery along with several other summer fragrances, and it really stood out immediately. It is much more natural than many other fragrances and stands out from the classic citrus scents. You can smell them right at the beginning, but they are dominated from the start by the very natural and fruity mandarin note. Of course, this also brings with it a certain sourness, but above all sweetness and something bitter.

After a short time, a light but definitely noticeable mint note is added, which makes the whole fragrance even fresher and also somewhat green/vegetable.

As usual for Acqua di Parma, the fragrance is clearly only for summer. I personally really like the very natural, slightly bitter mandarin note. I would describe the fragrance as fruity, fresh and citrusy. Green notes are definitely more noticeable in the background.

The sillage is pretty good, at least for the first 30-40 minutes, and definitely radiates a few meters. However, the longevity is relatively poor and the sillage suffers after an hour at the latest. On me, the fragrance lasts about 3-5 hours (with 5-6 sprays), although after 2 hours it is only noticeable close to the skin.
