early afternoon summer breeze
The sun is high, but it isn't too hot yet. A light breeze flows through your hair. A fresh and beautiful and elegant orange smells tickles and refreshes your nose. In my opinion, this might be the best smelling summer sent there is. So light, yet so powerful, undeniably and effortlessly elegant. Yes, it might not be the longest lasting sent but honestly, who cares. I always have my decant with me, it really doesn't take up much space. I really love what Acqua di Parma have done with this and I hope it will serve me for many more summers.

Shut Down, Vol. 2 (1964)
Spearmint gum laced orange popsicle . And a sprig of petitgrain (lemony leaves/twigs) . Like perhaps a mint-forward interpretation of Eau de Rochas Homme replacing the basil. Extremely juicy, as if I doused myself in fresh mandarin zest. The advert and art installation commissioned by AdP perfectly convey the feeling of this scent.

This is quite effervescent in the opening, and a bit more dated in its greenness and sweetness (late 80’s / early 90’s) - think more Aramis New West for Him and Escape, as opposed to say Versace Eros. One could argue a nod to L’Anarchiste in the scent-profile of a floral orange and mint, but here certainly lacking that gothic, cinnamon sandalwood and musk.

Ironically enough, my mind also went to A*Men Ultra Zest and Tauer’s Orange Star as more “contemporary” fragrances - this never going too thick nor heavy nor too sweet. And perhaps a nod to a more “natural” Cedro di Diamante .

Very orange, very green, slightly sweet, slightly off-putting, slightly entrancing . Better than Futura? For me, yes - a perhaps slight return-to-form.

*update: wife purchased this for me after finding a t-shirt in the hamper that kept the fragrance for a few days - asked me what it was, and immediately went online. Very happy summer ahead, and certainly some Brian Wilson on the stereo (recorded in mono)

This reminds me of Lake Como back in the summers
Mandarino di Sicilia opens with this incredibly bright splash of green mandarin, its juicy, alittle tart and honestly it feels like you have just peeled a fresh fruit with your hands. The citrus here does not feel synthetic or candy like, its more like standing somewhere in Sicily or North Italy with the sun warming the skin that fresh citrus oil mist in the air. The bergamot and blood orange add a nice sparkle that keeps the opening energetic and uplifting.

After a few minutes, a soft breeze of spearmint and petitgrain comes through. it does not turn into a minty perfume tho, but it gives the scent a cool refreshing feeling, almost like shake under a three on a hot day. it keeps the fragrance from becoming flat or too sweet.

I really do wish it longevity was longer that is it at the moment.

Mandarino di Sicilia
Initial spray is sweeter than I expected; mostly candied mandarin and lemon. Honestly smells a bit like bathroom cleaner to me. Some spearmint as it settles. Very musky base with woody undertones. Not as clean/refreshing as I was hoping. Tbh, a bit of a disappointment. Especially at this price point.

Avanti SSD!
There are scents for dates. One wants to appeal to a woman or man on this level as well, creating an interesting overall impression, an aura. Luring, enticing, and so on. There are a number of perfumes for this purpose. "Pantydropper" should be a good keyword for your own research.

Mandarino di Sicilia is not one of those scents. On the other hand, sometimes there is no need for Armors' big cannon. Six out of ten adults are in pairs and can at least skip the early phases of courtship in their internal relationship. This does not mean that any olfactory effort should be abandoned with monogamous pairing. Engagement that goes beyond basic body hygiene still pays off. A rather interesting thought is to transfer Mandarino di Sicilia in a figurative sense to this engagement. However, the truth is much closer. "I’ll just go to the bathroom" is enough for 1-2 sprays and will be pleasantly present in the near future without dominating the situation. The scent works right from the start in close proximity, is refreshingly stimulating, and pairs excellently with warmth. Category SSD - Summer S*x Scent. I will not buy the 100ml or - heaven forbid - 180ml after using up the sample. I’m not twenty anymore! The nice 30ml bottle should be sufficient.

Mandarino di Sicilia starts off with mandarin peel, then takes on additional citrus notes, and only later reveals the components of the base. It becomes more complex then; at the beginning, we are still close to a solitary fragrance oil. Mint can be sensed in between, but for me, it is more intertwined in the composition. My skin absorbs the perfume within two, at most three hours; on clothing and hair, it naturally lasts longer.

Nothing new or unique can be found. Still pleasant and absolutely wearable, not just in bed, but surely also on a summer walk, in an unairconditioned office, at the ice cream café, etc.

You’re sitting on the terrace in your Palazzo drinking a freshly squeezed orange juice as the sea breeze carries the smells from your herb garden.

Love this for those stupidly hot days. You know when on a recipe it asks you to grate orange skin to make zest? This smells like that

Mandarin rind and spicy petitgrain all the way; The more stays on skin, the more petitgrain I get.

Green and juicy, with just enough woodiness to give it a backbone. Spearmint comes through more as a coolness than a distinct note.

Incredible realistic mandarin, very pleasant, not too sweet, sillage is not very strong on my skin. 6+ sprays and u'r good to go!

A photorealistic mandarin for citrus lovers, but maybe a bit too bitter. I'm getting actually really decent longevity

One of the most artificial scents: in my opinion, thymol, which would also explain the peppermint and lemon: it somehow hits quite artificially chic.
