The Bottle........Goodness gracious.....
Since discovering Parfumo, I have been trying out fragrances from Al Haramain and Rasasi from time to time. For a long time, I thought that Arabic perfumes were basically heavy, sweet bombshells. I have to admit I was quite mistaken about that. Oudh al Misk, for example, is a fresh, citrusy summer scent - not a trace of oriental opulence, which I enjoy sniffing on Mr. Pluto (on me, it doesn’t smell nearly as good).

Night Dreams was ordered almost incidentally, like many of my fragrances. Night Dreams opens with a cool, fresh bouquet of roses, garnished with pepper, saffron, and cardamom. And a whole stack of wood. And, although not mentioned, with Oud. There is always this slight dung note in the air, not sharp or unpleasant, but it’s there. Or is it from somewhere else? Night Dreams is bitter and cools the room temperature; to be honest, it almost gives me a bit of a chill. I notice that the “fresh scents of the Arabs” often have a metallic note that I don’t particularly like. This is also the case with Gold and Oud al Mubakhar. The scent doesn’t change over the next few hours; cool, bitter roses continue to waft around. After 4 hours, Night Dreams becomes more pleasant, a slight sweetness spreads out that I would have liked to experience earlier. Mind you, “slight sweetness,” not sticky or heavy. I suspect there’s a hint of vanilla.

The longevity is really good, about 8 to 9 hours, and the sillage is rather moderate to subtle. I also agree with the unisex designation. Night Dreams is for hot summer days, it feels invigorating and cooling. The bottle depicted here is not mine (I would almost be glad!!), but is shown here under the Night Dreams perfume oil. I don’t like the bottle at all, goodness gracious, just too much frill, but what counts are the inner values. Oh, the name. Hmm, I find it rather unsuitable. When I think of Night Dreams, I think of something cozy, soft, calming; for me, the scent is the exact opposite.

P.S. I have blinders on my eyes; my bottle doesn’t look like the one from the perfume oil. I must have been too dazzled, which doesn’t mean it’s prettier!

Cultivated Noble Splash from the Orient
Nightly coolness after hot days, evening breeze wafting over from the forest, old English roses growing next door.
And yet this scent is neither English nor European.
It carries a small Arabic secret within it, as only "Attar Wallahs" (Oriental perfumers) can manage.
Nothing here is intrusive, despite its opulence.
What I find astonishing is how well rose, cardamom, and ginger blend together. This combination results in a slightly bitter-powdery scent consistency that has a long, yet fresh dry-down.
Dominant is the sandalwood (I don't know if "real" is used in "Al Haramain"), and it reminds me of the "Indian shops" of the 70s and 80s, where small bottles of essential oils were sold.
"Night Dreams" is also not THE typical representative of Oriental perfumes, which are usually sweet-spicy and almost overwhelming.
It is rather a "cultivated," subtle representative of Arabic fragrance art. With good longevity and sillage.

Earthy beetroot note like I also perceive in Chopard's Enchanted, minimal "merf" aspect that tingles, herbal, delicately bitter-spiced.

Cool, fresh dew-kissed roses, pepper, and lots of wood. A fresh, spicy oriental. The bottle, oh dear God, absolutely not my style.
