Sultry Oriental Mix...
This is another great value oil by Alkemia. The story goes that this is based on a charmed recipe from Marie Laveau, a high voodoo priestess in New Orleans in the 1800's. A recipe for love, luck and success. We know that certain smells and oils carried great significance in Voodoo and Santeria, and could offer protection and purification etc.
In terms of the fragrance itself, I find it very intriguing in that it has an almost cold, spicy aspect in the beginning, but which warms up the longer it sits on skin. I suspect this comes from the cinnamon used here. I definitely also get the vanilla and almond blossom, which brings a sweetness which is never overpowering. I keep discovering these great oils from Alkemia and I always find them almost as good as any bottle of well made perfume. I can see this one being worn year round, although as an oriental this would do well in colder weather too.
I think if you are a fan of orientals in general, and are used to applying oils, this is definitely one to check out. Great value for the price, and well made. Alkemia definitely seem to know what they're doing with these fragrances. Very well done.
