Arcanum Alkemia

I keep thinking that this smells exactly like approaching a stand of incense sticks for sale, where you can sort of smell little bits and pieces of many different ones on offer, but the overall effect is always Yep, That Sure Is Incense! I have fond memories of frequenting shops with exactly this sort of vibe as a teen and young adult, so it's very nostalgic to me, and quite warm and pleasant, but in the end not entirely something I'd want to wear.

My first review here for an Alkemia oil. Arcanum is one which has such an interesting array of notes. It really reminds me of burning incense and herbs and spices used in some deep dark ritual. So alluring. Actually quite a number of Alkemia perfumes have this effect on me. Dragon's Blood is an interesting note and it reminds me of something menthol-like and medicinal, but then again there is a heavy dose of frankincense here. I also get a hint of patchouli oil, which is mixed with the incense. Perhaps it's not something could wear every day, but it's certainly worth a try. This company has impressed me so far and I plan to continue reviewing their scents. Very intriguing!

This time was connected with music, with magic, with hairstyles, dresses and ideology, with pleasures, feelings, scents and hopes, with passion and future and the doors were open, and through one I gladly followed you: Into the occupied house on some star, where the dust from the sofas in front of the blind windows created a stage for small escapes in the smoke of Nag Champa in glittering hustle. And no one sang to my heart like Rio from that overdriven box, while you dried my tangled hair with soap, because it tangled so much easier.
And so they smelled softly muted for hours of a mixture of distant spices, of smoke and Nag Champa, the soapy flowers that grow on Indian sandalwood, and of the patchouli on our clothes from collections of old dresses, which the morning before had still been mixed with incense, now it was more the smoke of dragon's blood. How in love I was in that time, in you and your otherness, which brought me so much closer to what I was, so much further away from home.
Now I am free and I know who I am, and I know what I want to do, and I can feel you, can dive into the past, quietly rummaging in memory. Now you are next to me, and I am next to you,... Come... Sleep with me.
