Daar Al Shabaab Royal Ard Al Zaafaran

I have known for a while that the company Ard al Zaafaran produces beautiful fragrances. And I already have several of them in my collection. The one I currently have under my nose is more of a "non-oriental," but beautiful nonetheless. It reminds me of the "old" Fougére veterans, many of which have already become extinct.
A bit like Drakar Noir, in terms of the "dark demeanor," which follows a rather spicy-fresh start. The small "rose core" is lovely, as it remains perceptible throughout the entire scent journey. It is nestled in herbaceous "fern fronds" and inky birch tar, which evokes the "leather" accord. A slightly sharp saffron occasionally flashes through the rose-fern thicket.
Throughout its projection, the scent remains wonderfully dark green with red, yellow, and brown speckles. The woodiness is rather subdued, yet subtly noticeable over the entire "scent stretch."
Now, Daar Al Shabaab Royal has a sonorous, slightly rosy "leather" tone, not unlike "Knize Ten (Toilet Water) | Knize." However, it is a completely independent fragrance that does not copy other scents. It behaves more like an octopus, adapting its color and pattern to various backgrounds. Always in a swift change, lively, unwavering, and truly "niche"...
At least a must-add to the wishlist!!

What does a sparkling iced tea from Franconia have to do with a perfume from Dubai?

First of all, a note that the fragrance notes listed here are not correct. Others have pointed this out as well. The notes I found match those from Duftbursche: juniper berries, mate tea, leather, tonka beans. Here they are in the order of appearance and intensity. The top, heart, and base are identical; there is no significant development.

First, let's talk about the scent before we turn to the drink:
When first sprayed, don't be alarmed, as an alcohol cloud envelops you for a few seconds. From the very beginning, however, the juniper is present, which is why my first impression was: gin, delicious! The juniper dominates at first and is incredibly fresh, spicy, and slightly resinous. Soon, the mate tea joins in, beautifully green, slightly earthy, and with a hint of sweetness. Leather is also present later, but it remains subtly in the background. I can't pick out the tonka bean, but the scent does become a bit sweeter, which I attribute to tonka. There is only a scent development in the sense that the mate tea becomes more intense over time and, in the end, stands equally alongside the juniper.
The scent lasts 6-7 hours with rather low sillage. In my opinion, it is not unisex, but clearly masculine.

Now to the drink:
Ice-cold, the first sip is sweet-refreshing, slightly spicy with a bitter undertone. If you drink more of it and if the brew warms up a bit, it unfortunately becomes musty and induces - at least for me - a slight gag reflex. So, either drink a sip quickly or skip it altogether. I’ll skip it.

Unfortunately, I feel the same way about the scent: at first, the mate tea doesn't bother me, as the juniper is much more dominant. However, the stronger the mate tea becomes, the less I like the scent. What I have known about mate tea for a long time, I now also know for perfumes with mate: we will not be friends.

For everyone else who likes Club-Mate and also enjoys the smell of mate: a great, long-lasting, fresh scent at a sensational price.
