The Club-Mate from Dubai
What does a sparkling iced tea from Franconia have to do with a perfume from Dubai?
First of all, please note that the scents given here are not correct. Other perfumers have already noticed this. The scents I found correspond to those of fragrance boy: Juniper berries, maté tea, leather, tonka beans. Here in order of appearance and intensity. Head, heart and base are identical; there is as no great development.
Let's get to the scent before we turn to the shower:
When spraying on the first one you should not be frightened, first of all an alcohol cloud envelops you, which remains hanging for a few seconds. But from the beginning the juniper is also there, which is why my first impression was: Gin, delicious! The juniper dominates at the beginning and is insanely fresh, spicy and slightly resinous. Soon the mate tea joins in, nice green, slightly earthy and with a slight sweetness. Leather is also present later, but remains discreetly in the background. I don't smell tonka bean, but the scent gets a little sweeter, which I attribute to tonka. There is a fragrance development only in the sense that the mate tea becomes more intense with time and finally stands on an equal footing with the juniper.
The scent lasts 6-7 hours with rather low silage. For my perception it is not unisex, but clearly masculine.
Now for the shower:
When chilled, the first sip is sweet and refreshing, slightly spicy with a bitter undertone. If you drink more of it and if the brew warms up a bit, it unfortunately becomes musty and produces - at least in my case - a slight gag reflex. So, either take a sip quickly or leave it all. I leave it.
Unfortunately, I feel the same with the fragrance: at the beginning, the mate tea does not bother me yet, as the juniper is much more dominant. But the stronger the mate tea becomes, the less I like the fragrance. What I've known about mate tea for a long time, I now know for perfumes with mate as well: we won't become friends.
