A collector's piece, not a favorite.
I had really high expectations. A fragrance, exclusively released in Australia, hardly available, limited - that always awakens a certain curiosity in me. And with a name like "Pressed Petals | Ariana Grande," I imagined something delicate: floral powderiness, perhaps a sun-soaked, slightly woody hint - inspired by Australian nature. Something warm, soft, that lies gently on the skin.
Then came the first spray, and to be honest, it startled me...
My nose twitched. Indeed. That has never happened to me with an Ariana Grande fragrance before.
What I perceived instead was a bright, almost piercing aldehyde cloud, interwoven with a fleeting burst of bergamot. However, the citrus freshness quickly fades. What remains is a very present, powdery-soapy floral note that clearly reminds me of old rose soap.
Not unpleasant in the classical sense, but completely atypical for what one usually expects from this brand.
No fluffy marshmallow. No soft vanilla. No youthful lightness.
Instead: stiff, feminine powderiness that could easily be found in a Betty Barclay bottle. It is a fragrance with more depth than one might think, yes... But also with a certain heaviness that literally gave me a headache.
What one must give it: The performance is strong. One spray is completely sufficient. I wouldn't recommend more. I experienced the fragrance for up to ten hours; even the next morning, there was still a hint on my skin. The sillage is also noticeable, as you can perceive it without having to strain.
The bottle, however, is a real highlight. In contrast to many earlier Ariana designs with plastic casings, this one feels significantly more high-quality: heavy glass, a metallic cap with weight, and a rose-colored accent that looks very elegant and mature. You can tell that there is a development happening here. The brand is maturing, just like the artist herself and many of her fans. What grows older comes together. From my perspective, that is the true symbolism of this fragrance.
For Ariana fans, this fragrance may be an exciting addition, especially because it stands out from the collection. However, for those under 20, I find it too mature, too strict, too little playful. And for everyone else: Test it before you go through the trouble.
The bottle alone is already not cheap in Australia, and when you add shipping and customs, it quickly adds up to a truly costly experiment. And for that, the fragrance, despite its rarity, simply isn't strong or special enough. But that's just my opinion. Those simply looking for a feminine, floral, slightly soapy scent will surely find something in the designer segment. And that without a detour across half the globe.
I am happy to have Pressed Petals in my collection, no question! But not because of the fragrance, but because I have completed a series.
