.....the make "Ellen Betrix".
When I was a teenager, "Ellen Betrix" had its fixed place in drugstores, perfumeries, and "better" supermarkets, which were then called "Plaza" and "Schade & Füllgrabe". Creams, facial care, and cosmetics that my mother used in the 70s and early 80s, and later, starting at 17, I also used.
I got to know some of the fragrances from this brand because I was already a "sniffing nose" back then and occasionally tested them.
I hadn't bought them, as I was more into oriental oils and chypre scents.
However, I still "scented" one or two samples.
And one of them smelled soooo good. But I don't think it was "Orient Style Number 6". (It could have been a chypre scent).
Now I have received "Orient Style" from a dear Parfumo (thank you, Carsten) and can sniff it in the "original".
This fragrance is quite unsweetened, just how I like it.
And "dark-spicy-powdery. With clove, possibly cinnamon, balsamic wood accords, slightly "myrrh-like" - finely smoked.
And a little mysterious like an Arabian beauty with dark eyes, her face hidden behind a gossamer veil, where one can sense her "dark glow".
Above all, this "Betrix" fragrance is a unique piece that only slightly reminds one of the "old Youth Dew" by Lauder, but is fundamentally less dry and dusty.
And violet-dark, as if a pinch of iris gave the fragrance a kind of resonance in this color.
A "teaspoon" of amber and sandalwood, possibly patchouli, makes "Orient Style" long-lasting on the skin and provides a wonderfully present yet unobtrusive sillage.
The floral and spicy "top notes" largely remain intact and make the fragrance a radiant, versatile scent. And in my nose's opinion, not just for the female representatives of our species.
