It's been a long time

Wow, on Parfumo there’s even my very first aftershave! It's quite something, during my youth everything had to be from Axe. Whether it was deodorant spray, shower gel, or my first aftershave! That was a long time ago, and I generally no longer own any Axe products. I could never tolerate the deodorant sprays; they burned uncomfortably. For nostalgic reasons, I kept buying the Alaska as an aftershave or shower gel because I simply liked it. Although the shower gel was definitely better.

Olfactorily, the aftershave smelled strongly and distinctly like shower gel, very aquatic. In addition, citrus fruits, floral hints, and a certain woodiness were noticeable. However, I don't want to draw a comparison to Cool Water Eau de Toilette; while there are similarities, that's about it.

Gentle Breeze

Due to descriptions that see "Alaska" as a "Cool Water" clone, I was curious and blindly grabbed this aftershave in the drugstore. The name suggests a cool freshness. A cold breeze of arctic air. In reality, however, it only results in a gentle breeze.
Yes, it is an aquatic scent that, with a bit of goodwill, leans towards Cool Water, but it dries up halfway. Longevity and especially sillage are very weak, even for an aftershave. You really have to make an effort to smell anything at all. Perhaps it was designed simply to smell like air.

Great for a cheap After Shave

Absolutely great for the price. Some ladies in my vicinity even prefer this scent over much more expensive EdT from brand-name companies. Unfortunately, the longevity is moderate.

All clear in Alaska?!?

A few days ago, it happened again. On one hand, I had a birthday, and on the other hand, I received something to smell as a gift after a long time. A good friend surprised me with Axe's After Shave Alaska. I couldn't accept it - I really couldn't accept that this was all there was.
But one is polite, and in principle, the good intention counts, even if I was more than irritated.
Ultimately, I placed the After Shave in my collection the next day, even though I would surely face mockery and ridicule. But I wanted to give a brand like Axe a chance, and you don't look a gifted horse in the …

However, I had only briefly sniffed the After Shave at the neck of the bottle, and then came the icy surprise on the skin: Axe Alaska is nothing more than a Cool Water clone at a bargain price. And this is where I become sensitive. If the stuff had simply been aquatically fresh like a perceived 100,000 others, I probably wouldn't have had a big problem and could have somewhat accepted this drugstore or supermarket product. But now to be walking around with a Cool Water sillage, I find neither contemporary nor appealing. I really can't face people with this, even though I once loved the Davidoff classic dearly.

No - now I have to see whom I can delight from my personal circle with this, without being laughed at or getting punched in the face.

Alaska is probably more for absolute fragrance novices or for penny pinchers…

Since I haven't found anyone to take this fragrance and I have to save myself, I have decided to take it back into my collection and even use it. If "Monsieur" is brave enough to stand by it, then I can do that too :-)
