a citrus-green master chypre
The Spanish/Basque fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga was completely unknown to me as a young woman.
This was probably not only due to the fact that I was still very young at the time; one reason was probably also that we often had difficulties pronouncing names back then (in pre-internet times, which could teach us that).
So we preferred to stick to what was linguistically common or familiar, which, as I later realized, really limited our "radius of action" in the land of scents.
But as you know, you never stop learning.
I am now not only familiar with the fashion of the so-called "guardian of the grail of elegance", but thanks to the generosity of Greenfan1701, I was also able to get to know two of his lighter fragrance creations in the form of eau de toilette.
And of course they are green; otherwise my bottlings would not come from her with her preference for "green fragrances".
i would even describe "Cialenga" as a "green citrus chypre" with a tart note of blackcurrant.
It leads me through a spicy green meadow into a grove of Hesperides plants, in the shade of which I enjoy myself in the late afternoon.
Not only do the fruits have an unmistakable scent, but the sun-warmed foliage and wood also make it a very pleasant place to stay when nature begins to calm down and all the aromas slowly settle and unfold.
The play of light and shadow on the leaves is a nice additional entertainment.
The dense hedge of currant bushes separates the large summer flower garden, the ripe black berries are waiting to be harvested with a strong scent; they have to be picked individually rather than in clusters: A lot of work before their taste is sure to lend a very special aroma to a bottle or two of fruit wine.
It's beautiful here: Refreshingly green and fruity, almost a little sparkling, even if aldehydes are probably not involved!
But then the flower garden beckons: they're all there! How I love them!
Lily of the valley, jasmine and lilies - white blooming and beguilingly fragrant. With jasmine and lilies, the big scent boost is still to come; their aromas gather and wait for the onset of dusk to impregnate them with their sensual, often intoxicating floral breath.
But "Cialenga" gives them the time they need to blossom and it really is worth it.
Faithful and noble, a dark, heavy scent of roses, obviously laced with cloves, caresses the nose.
What a fascinating spicy blend!
And of course, all this beauty is rounded off with a classic chypre base - there's no other way! Oak moss, beautifully powerful as I like it, patchouli and vetiver provide a deep, slightly moist earthiness, erotic creamy sandalwood and the spice of the wonderful cedar wood make this pleasure perfect: "Cialenga" ends the day!
As already mentioned, the citrus-green chypre fragrance with a great floral note and pleasant base takes its time to unfold on the skin and this is exactly what the many different fragrance notes do, whose charming facets only gradually open up and enchant like ripening flowers.
So my chypre adventure is not over yet.
I am still curious to see what else there is to discover in this fragrance range.
