"All you can eat"
The opening of Sushi Imperiale is one of the strongest “déja vu” I’ve experienced so far with fragrances, and sadly, it isn’t really a flattering one for this Bois 1920 scent. In fact it smells basically halfway Opium pour Homme and a bunch of cheap nutmeg-spicy Oriental designers, like Lagerfeld for Man from 2004. But most of all, it’s very, very close to Opium pour Homme, and I’m surprised nearly none noticed this. Unless my sample has been altered, it’s a blatant ripoff of that. For the worse, actually, as it’s actually a bit more mediocre than the YSL’s – flatter, more static, and just cheaper overall. Nothing horrible, but surely nothing special either. Basically Sushi Imperiale (why this name, by the way?) is a gentle, inoffensive, a bit simplistic citrus-spicy fragrance with a nice sort of sweet anisic-fruity “transparent” texture mostly built on cinnamon, anise and nutmeg, running throughout the main spicy woodiness which makes the bone structure of the scent: but it’s basically nothing more than a mediocre designer, quality-wise and, well, everything-wise. I smell nothing creative or particularly “quality” here, just a tame, fairly flat and very averagely decent fresh spicy scent which would have gone completely unnoticed if we were in the mid or late-1990s. But we’re in the era of below-zero creativity and “revivals” everywhere, so... *sighs*.

~ Fall Is In the Air ~
~ This is one that I am glad reverses any fear of "expectation vs reality" in a good way! "Sushi??" No! Yummy apple cider and sweet cinnamon? Yes. This is as close to a gourmand as I care to get but it does make my nose seek out the tables of my youth filled with Grandmother's Apple pies and turnovers. As a man I can definitely see this generous gift sample (thank-you) turning into yet another larger sample and perhaps a FB of this amazing comfort scent! How this sweet, spicy "fall is in the air" scent doesn't get more attention is beyond me? If fragrance fans can chase high dollar trendy scents like Ambre Narguile then this comforting nutmeg and spice beauty deserves a lot more Love to. The perfect sillage with just a hint of floral makes it a personal scent and that is exactly who I would want it for, me. The longevity lasts long enough to spend a lazy fall afternoon day-dreaming of aromas of my youth or heating up some cider for quiet time, a swing and a good read. This is not challenging or complex and won't win you droves of compliments but it will satisfy you the wearer in a very good way!
Kind Regards, Plat ~

Perhaps good for stimulating conversation in public settings
There must be a story behind the name of Bois 1920 SUSHI IMPERIALE, but I have no idea what it is. All I know is that this perfume is a straightforward designer-type oriental composition with about double the usual concentrations of the various components. I have no doubt that this creation features genuine sandalwood and flowers. But the items included are really very standard fare, and they are combined in normal designer floriental proportions--again, just twice as strong and of very high quality. Reminds me of something by Linari, actually.

SUSHI IMPERIALE is a very rich concoction with big sillage and excellent longevity, but I cannot understand why someone would buy this instead of one of the ubiquitous designer analogues. I'd save my niche bucks for something with originality in the composition, not the name. I'm sure that if I had a bottle I'd wear this in wintertime, but it's nothing new at all. Which is not say that everything has to be earthshatteringly revolutionary, but if it is not, why pay this price?

Given the strength of this elixir, people will ask you what you are wearing, no doubt, so then I guess you can have a hearty discussion over the provenance of the name.

No Fragrance for Fashion Victims
A perfume with sushi in the name, I just had to test it!

Right after spraying it on, I knew this one was for me! I love scents with a slightly strict classic touch, and that’s exactly what this masterpiece is about.

There’s no fashionable frills created here. No, with this fragrance, you acquire timeless elegance, suitable for any occasion and time of day. It emphasizes the individual note of the wearer.

The linear scent progression begins with a subtly fresh top note. The citrus fruits have a well-measured acidity, and the rather bitter flowers from the heart note can already be well anticipated.

Despite various spices, Sushi Imperial has nothing oriental or heavy about it. Iris and rose are at the center of the heart, and the spices skillfully take away their sweetness. An elegant woody note rounds off the classic character of the perfume.

In the drydown, a very restrained sweetness is added, but the woody character remains the main theme here.

Sushi Imperial is not a fragrance for fashion victims, but rather a perfume for stylish individualists.

I love it ... I hate it ... no, I love it ... no, I hate it ...
This fragrance is pure schizophrenia ... at least for me!

When I first smelled the fragrance, I thought I had my former English teacher standing in front of me. He smelled from every pore of his body due to the excessive spicing of his food, a mix of sweet and sour, which was not exactly enticing. The scent was quickly forgotten and received no further attention in the following months ...

However, once a quarter, I find myself in front of the Bois fragrances and would love to take them all home because the bottles look so great; I love the minimalist design. So I gradually had some fragrances sprayed on test strips and evaluated each one with: delicious, nice, okay, well, no thanks ... and suddenly a WOW ... it smelled of cinnamon, lemon, a bit peppery and floral ... so there is love at first "sniff" after all. At least I thought so, but I was mistaken ... when they told me the name of the fragrance I had just fallen in love with, I felt a bit nauseous; that sweet-sour experience was still present ...

The scent almost overwhelms you with its presence when sprayed and, in my opinion, is not an everyday fragrance. You either love it or hate it. In food, I avoid anything that even remotely resembles cinnamon, anise, or nutmeg, but here it creates a wonderfully harmonious whole.

The top note is a true burst of freshness and a wonderful transition to the warmer heart note. There, the cinnamon, which I usually despise, clearly dominates ... but here in a refined, warm, and high-quality form. I can't really say anything about the base; it doesn't exist for me. Maybe my sense of smell is by no means as trained as most here, but I perceive neither patchouli nor vetiver. However, a woody undertone runs through the entire fragrance for me ... Whether it involves sandalwood ... I can't really judge ...

I don't know what makes this fragrance so special, but I can't control my finger when spraying. I find the saying "less is more" completely misplaced here. I'm sad that Sushi Imperiale isn't bottled in barrels; that way, I could indulge fully. At 135 euros for 100 ml, however, 5 sprays in the morning have to suffice. Although it initially comes across as very intense, its longevity can only be rated as average. (4 - 6 hours)

My conclusion: It has become a great love, even if only on the second sniff ... Since it seems to polarize in general, perhaps one should give it a second chance ... I did, and I'm doing very, very well with it ...

Saying this was merely inspired by Opium pour Homme would be an understatement.

It’s classy. Not too sophisticated, but great spice bomb with citric and patchouli. Sparkling Christmas scent!

very sweet and balsamic spicy. A blend of tonka, vanilla, sandalwood refined with fine nutmeg, a bit of anise and cinnamon. Rather masculine

Spanish apple pie? Cinnamon-spiced dough with vanilla and fruity notes. Not too sweet or sticky at all. I actually quite like it.

It conveys a fine, warm aura. I wonder what that has to do with sushi. Cinnamon doesn't really belong in there...

Spicy freshness with bursts of plum compote and bergamot that unfortunately crash-land into a very generic base.

The sly jasmine pretended a fresh-fruity dish was on the menu. But then the herbal-vanilla apple-cinnamon puree revealed itself.
