Bottega Veneta pour Homme (un)revisited
Just a more concentrated version of Bottega Veneta pour Homme for whom can't appreciate the classy lightness of the original. Completely identical to it to any extent, just a bit bolder. Given there's no other difference, I prefer the original just because of its subtlety.

Great smell, but short-lived
Very lovely juniper, pine, and leather with a great pimento note. The leather is very soft and supple, not especially prominent, but still very much noticeable. It is serious, masculine, and quite sexy, with a smidge of freshness that makes me think that it would work well in warmer weather as well as during the autumn and winter. However, like other Bottega Veneta fragrances I've tried, the performance was poor for me - around 3 hours longevity, and limited projection and sillage. Ultimately, I sold it; but still I get cravings for it. I've since sampled Russian Leather by the house of Memo Paris, and as other reviewers have noted, can affirm that they are quite similar, though Russian Leather is superior in terms of scent profile and performance. I'll be picking up a bottle eventually. Still, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme is a classy, sexy, very well composed fragrance hearkening back to the old favorites that could shake up your winter rotation of sweet and spicy orientals. I just wish it lasted longer on my skin.

We have to look serious now!
Project meeting on Monday morning.
I am stuck in the meeting room with 15 participants, a mix of Hugo Man and Jacobs' concoction hangs in the air. The two women in our group look helpless and olfactorily overwhelmed, staring blankly into space.
In such a homogeneous mess, no wars are won! I need to take action if I don’t want to drown permanently in this scent stew. So I need a fragrance that is anything but floral, fresh, and sweet.

With this requirement, I eventually landed on BVpHE. However, I could only approach this scent theoretically. No retailer near me could conjure a bottle from the drawer.
When a suitable % promotion went online a few days ago, I just had to buy it blindly.

The first spray startled me a bit. Oh, this one hits hard. The top note is already very present and, for my taste, a bit too "Extreme." Very spicy and woody, but fortunately not resinous. After about 1 hour, it quieted down and became very pleasant to wear. The spicy-woody aspect remained, but it no longer comes across as aggressively.
As time goes on, the wood is replaced by leather. For several hours, a leathery spiciness remains, which does not overwhelm the environment. I easily last over 8 hours!

The plan for next Monday looks different accordingly. Freshly motivated, and with the support of BVpHE, I will grab a strong espresso before the project meeting. I’ll bring the two ladies a latte macchiato. I will arrive a bit earlier and secure three seats at the end of the table. On the window side, the Hugo's with their filtered brew can take a seat; there, it can also be quickly aired out. And if the mood stinks too much, I’ll have a quick threesome with the ladies, or what do you call a group of three people?

Bottega Veneta pour Homme Extrême is, for me, the ideal "I have to look serious now" scent. It somehow radiates confidence without coming across as too dominant. Just a masculine base to show the other Hugo's who the real boss is here.
The ladies don’t seem to find the scent extremely sexy. One colleague said, "I don’t mind." So no ladies' panties will be flying. At most from the male colleagues who have made themselves comfortable out of respect for you. But that’s exactly how it should be!

"It doesn’t help if the perfume is called Boss and you still smell like Hugo..."

Familiarity from the Bottle
The first time I smelled BV PHE was with a small sample that came with an order.
After a few days, I sprayed it on the back of my hand for the first time, and it almost knocked me over. The scent is incredibly "dense" (for lack of better words), and you have to process what you’re taking in nasally, at least as a fragrance novice. So it wasn’t love at first sniff; I actually dismissed it immediately as too extreme and unsuitable for me as a young student. BUT: The stuff lingers longer than just a breath on the back of my hand, so I kept getting whiffs of it, and well, from "too extreme" it became "interesting," and from there, it turned into real love.
It somehow reminds me of an evening in a warm, wooden living room with my parents and grandparents, without smelling old-fashioned. It simply creates a very cozy and familiar feeling in me that I can’t get enough of.

The scent is obviously polarizing, especially among the younger crowd. However, I believe you have to give it a chance and let the depth of the fragrance work on you.

Regarding longevity, I can perceive it well for about 5-6 hours, after which it’s only very close to the skin. The sillage, in my opinion, is good, not too overpowering.

Conclusion: I love it, and I’m happy if others feel the same way. By the way, this was my first comment ;)

The Extreme Was Necessary
With Bottega Veneta Pour Homme, the well-known credo that one should test fragrances before buying them was once again confirmed. Tested repeatedly and always thrilled by the wonderful and extraordinary top note, the base scent quickly became mine. After happily applying it in the morning before work, I thought by noon that I was getting sick. I could no longer smell my new acquisition. So off I went to the ENT. But he sent me home again. Everything was fine; not sick. It must have been the fragrance after all. And thus, disappointment took its course, and Bottega Veneta was gifted to my father-in-law. What a shame, it could have been a great one...

Then came the good news: Bottega Veneta is releasing an Extreme version. So off to the nearest perfume store and bought it (of course, only tested on the paper strip. It’s not like I learned anything from the first purchase). And it was worth it. This spicy-fresh opening from the base scent remains, only it lasts longer. After a while, it becomes woody. A very pleasant woody note. Quite masculine. Additionally, the leather increasingly comes to the forefront. Not a smoky leather like Tuscan Leather, but softer. It is different from the base scent, but still recognizable in its fundamental structure.
Many perfume enthusiasts here attest to a certain sweetness and powderiness. That’s true, but it is in no way comparable to Dior Homme. The sweetness and powderiness accompany the fragrance rather subtly.

Overall, a beautiful spicy leathery signature scent.

I would wish for the base scent to disappear and for the Extreme variant to lose the "Extreme" label, and that there would be a true perfume version for it.

One more thing about the bottle. While it was already very simple as the regular "Pour Homme," they have taken it to the extreme with the sticker. I expect more...

Gorgeous balsamic woods and powdery leather. This has class written all over it. Only buy this if you have the wardrobe to go with it.

A calm scent that meanders between woody, spicy, and sweet, yet can't quite make up its mind.

BVpH at the screw of time, slightly set back in time. Calmly excited - a spark of disharmony, yet good.

Beautiful, aromatic, slightly ethereal forest scent with a somewhat annoying artificial juniper-berry sweetened leather note. Smooth, but with character.

A bit too much labdanum, the woods come off a bit too balsamic-woody. I don't detect leather, but I do notice iris, quite dry even.

No competition for the EdT. Too artificial and too forced to live up to its name. The only extreme here is the downward slope.

Leather, slightly sweet herbs and wood. Takes me straight back to the 90s. Balanced with a great base. My ordering finger is itching....
