Everything one could want from a summery Britney fragrance
I'm an fan of Britney Spears' fragrances. Sure, not every single one is to my taste, but all in all, it's my favorite celebrity line. Especially the Fantasy collection. I love that they are so unapologetically girly and sweet.
Sunset Fantasy doesn't smell particularly similar to the original Fantasy, but it's still very Britney. It starts with delicious fruity notes of peach and raspberry, perfectly fitting for the sunset color scheme of the bottle. These fruit are very sweet, a bit like fresh gummy bears - only the dark red and orange ones, which are clearly superior to the other colors. At least to me. Then it quickly turns creamier, like a milky vanilla dessert with fruit sauce. But from start to finish, sandalwood is present as a steady background note. It doesn't take over the scent, but adds some unexpected depth. Together with the creamy texture, it also reminds me of coconut.
Even though this is quite gourmandish and not a light, fresh or tropical scent, it feels very summery. Maybe because it's warming like sunrays on the skin, but still fruity? It's not too summery to be worn in other seasons, it just gives me summer feelings.
There is one little thing that confused me about this and that I didn't want to omit from my review. I first tried it at an airport on holidays and loved it, but never found a tester again for a second trial. Then I bit the bullet and just ordered a bottle for cheap, and when it arrived, I was disappointed - something about the opening felt slightly stale and musty. But luckily, after a while I did not get that anymore and have worn it several times since. I don't know if my nose was playing tricks on me or if something was off because of the transport, I'm just happy the effect wasn't permanent.
