Hmmmmmmmmmmm... *head scratch*
Magic Woman has been living a pretty shadowy existence for me lately. It just sits there... But now my mom has gotten the fragrance, and I’ve come back around to it, or rather, I remembered why I wanted it so badly back then.
The opening is somewhat reminiscent of Bruno Banani for women. The top note is very intense, piercing. Although there are no similarities in the fragrance notes, both have that quality. Only with Magic Woman, it’s fruity, not floral like the other one.
The individual components of the fragrance are fairly balanced. You can still smell the strawberry the most, but it blends wonderfully with the blackcurrant, melon, etc. However, I really wonder what this piercing quality is supposed to be. It’s not necessarily disturbing, just very noticeable. If you took that away, the fragrance would surely have no recognizability. As it is, it’s very clearly identifiable as Bruno Banani. But I would like to know what that is.
There isn’t really a scent development with Magic Woman. Overall, it dissipates very quickly, even though it smells very intense at first. After two and a half hours, it’s over.
I have to say that I find Magic Woman quite special, precisely because of this penetrating piercing note. Therefore, it is absolutely not an everyday fragrance for me. I really only like something like this now and then, even if it doesn’t bother me. It’s just loud and unbalanced.
I would recommend the fragrance less to younger women than to young-at-heart ladies exclusively as a casual scent. I don’t find it sweet in a typical teen fragrance way at all, but rather relatively shrill. Too shrill for teenagers. For me, it would be wearable at equally extravagant occasions. A themed party or a bachelor party, something like that. The wearer wants to stand out but doesn’t take herself too seriously.
I really struggle with rating this. The fragrance isn’t bad, but somehow it’s a bit trashy. Like a strange song on the radio where you don’t know whether to find it cult or embarrassing.
