From fruity balsamic dream scent to just powdery...
I absolutely love the first hours of this. An uncommon blend of fruity and balsamic notes. The copaiba balm is noticeable right from the start. It's warm, creamy and slightly medicinal. I find it similar to Peru balsam, which is found in fragrances more often. The mandarin is sweet and juicy and adds a gourmand mandarin cheesecake vibe to the scent. I assume the tonka also plays a part in that.

Unfortunately the scent turns very powdery as it dries down. After a few hours the warmth is not completely gone, but covered by a thick layer of cooling powder, which makes the drydown quite different from the opening.
It's still nice, but it doesn't blow me away. I would have loved this if it dried down warmer and more balmy. The way it is, it's more of a like. I'm not too sad, it saves me some money, but I hope I will someday find a perfume that smells like Rubinia's opening all the way.

Crimson Seduction
We all have them: The categories into which we classify fragrances.
In addition to the categories: I don’t like it, it’s okay, I like it, and I love it (the highest level so far)
I have discovered a new category for myself with Rubinia:
“So beautiful I could cry”
And as cheesy as it may sound... it’s true. I would like to introduce you to this red beauty:
As part of the Le Gemme collection, Rubinia is meant to embody the ruby.
The ruby is considered one of the strongest healing stones for love and sexuality, as it is said to have a dynamic and revitalizing effect.
The gemstone is supposed to give courage to live out these desires, but it is also said to promote sensitivity in relationships and is therefore considered a lucky stone for love.

About the scent:
Rubinia starts fruity-creamy. I perceive the mandarin, it is by no means citrusy or fresh at all! Rather, it is a balsamic mandarin, and I could swear I’m catching a whiff of a cherry note.
Later, a powdery vanilla note joins in, which must be due to the tonka bean.
After a few hours, Rubinia noticeably decreases in sweetness and remains powdery-vanilla without becoming dry/dusty.
Overall, it is a beautiful creamy/powdery vanilla-tonka dream. (That was long haha)

The scent does not have a particular development, I must admit, but Rubinia doesn’t need that.
Bvlgari has created something magical here.
Rubinia embodies not only the ruby with its bottle but also the meaning of the gemstone in esotericism with the scent.
For me, the scent is the embodiment of feminine seduction.
Rubinia is incredibly feminine, sexy yet uniquely special; not only would men turn their heads when a beautiful lady walks by wearing this fragrance, leaving a cloud of scent in her wake.
With this scent, I envision an elegant, seductive woman wearing a velvet nightgown in blood red. Around her neck, she has the beautiful gemstone, adorning her décolletage.
She knows exactly what she wants. She is aware of her effect, and she enjoys it. Rubinia could not better emphasize her essence.
Oh yes, it is seductive, but still suitable for everyday wear in my opinion, and who says that one cannot smell seductive in everyday life? ;)

However, I would stay away from it in very high temperatures, as it can indeed come across as quite heavy.

I may still be a novice when it comes to the world of perfumes and have only been able to sniff/test around 140 fragrances, but I have come to love Rubinia like almost no other scent so far.
So ladies, you must try it :)!!

Thank you for reading.

Powdery-Sweet Gemstone
Hello my dear sniffers and welcome to a new comment from me :)
(Unbelievable, after all this time and so many comments, I am still being read!!... :D)

Today, I will describe the wonderful scent Rubinia from the Le Gemme collection by Bvlgari, which is one of the more premium and exclusive fragrance lines of this brand. I received the sample from a very dear perfumer, and apparently, I had to test the scent since she said something like “Test the fragrance or I’ll throw the bottle at your head!” which seemed like a gentle threat that she would hit me if I didn’t test this, admittedly wonderful scent. So it seems I have no choice but to ramble on here. You see, I’m not always to blame when I have to ramble on to you (…unbelievably, “ramble on” is now also spelled with three “L”s… :DD).

So, Rubinia then. You know that the Le Gemme fragrances are supposed to represent a specific gemstone, which is why they carry names of gemstones and minerals (or names inspired by them). Rubinia comes from ruby, a gemstone that is formed from the mineral corundum, which contains some chromium. Chromium-free corundum minerals have different colors like blue or green (due to iron, titanium, or something else inside) and are then referred to as sapphires. Anyway, ruby is therefore red and is considered the strongest healing stone of all (how fitting, in case I do get my head smashed by wild perfumers… :D). But a ruby also has many other magical properties, at least in esotericism, and is also regarded as a stone of joy, strength, vitality, and of course, primarily love. And… well, you should look up more about it yourself, as the stone seems to have a lot of properties. Whether one believes in it is another matter, but it all reads very interesting nonetheless :)
But now I finally come to the fragrance description!

The Scent:
The scent starts off lightly fruity sweet with a mandarin, which I wouldn’t have immediately recognized if it weren’t listed in the fragrance notes, although you can smell that the beginning is quite fruity. I quickly detect beautiful, sweet-powdery vanilla that harmonizes very nicely with this mandarin. There’s also a light spice, which should be the indicated saffron, but it quickly recedes a bit into the background. I also smell a light, clean-soapy component in the background.
Later, you still smell the wonderful fruity-sweet mix of mandarin and vanilla, with balsamic notes that make the scent even softer. A bit later, this softness is further enhanced by the tonka bean. The sweet notes also seem to come additionally from jasmine.
Towards the end, the scent actually remains as it is, mainly powdery and sweet from vanilla, tonka bean, and balsamic notes, although the fruity scents recede a bit and the fragrance seems to become even softer. All in all, a very beautiful and very feminine scent.

The Sillage and Longevity:
I find the sillage quite good. At first, when sprayed, it might seem that the strength of the scent doesn’t quite come through, but it develops better soon, enveloping you in a nice, even larger scent cloud that is easily detectable by others. The longevity is enormous, as the scent lasts ten hours on me.

The Bottle:
The bottle has a cup-like shape and is black with golden accents. The base of the bottle is smaller, which means it could wobble or tip slightly when touched, so one should be a bit careful. The disc-shaped cap is, as always, the highlight of the bottle, as it is also black-golden but additionally carries the color of the respective gemstone, in this case ruby red with a beautiful golden star-shaped decoration. A very beautiful and noble bottle.

Wow, I think Rubinia is one of the most beautiful Le Gemme fragrances I have tried so far. It smells sweet, powdery, and soft, making it a very feminine scent that comes across as very passionate, sexy, and elegant (and in these cases, it always makes me want to bite a woman wearing such a fragrance, aaaaahhh…..!).

Due to the stronger sweet and powdery notes, the scent is a bit heavier and thus best suited for autumn and winter. Applied lightly, it could be used daily, but it is even better for the evening, to simply appear heavenly, elegant, and above all, seductive (and of course… you know me and what’s coming next… especially delicious :D). It is just perfect for going out or for dates (of course not with me… *sigh* how mean!) and simply for making everyone who perceives the scent say nothing but “WOW”!

Therefore, I find that this scent is definitely worth a test! To sum it up briefly: You ladies would be really silly if you didn’t at least try it once :))

Yes, I have reached the end and wish you a lovely evening, until next time :)

Sea Scent and the Thing with the Half Glass While Standing
Since the first test spray, Rubinia has been on my wish list and as of the day before yesterday, it is now in my collection. This is the reason for my comment, although I cannot share entirely new or differing impressions from my predecessor's comment.

The scent touches something in my soul, which is why I feel the need to write about it. I rated it 9.0, even though I can't say that I like it unconditionally and exclusively. This may sound strange to you readers and I hope my further explanations will make it a bit clearer.

Alongside the scent perception, attributes come to mind such as special and unique and different, yes sometimes even peculiar. This is due to an exotic note that blends into the otherwise predominantly balsamic-almond scent. I still do not know if it is primarily due to the copaiba balsam, as I have not encountered it in its pure form yet. It is probably just the interplay of many elements. This many for me is:

- Tonka-almond
to the same extent
- Sandalwood-creamy
somewhat less
- Jasmine-floral and Mandarin-fruity
and in between also
- creamy-powdery

I do not notice a significant progression; the scent remains quite consistent on me, aside from the powderiness, which I perceive only temporarily and much stronger in warmer temperatures than in cooler ones. For me, it is a scent for the upcoming season, autumn, possibly also winter. Additionally, it is 100% feminine; I absolutely cannot imagine it on a man. The longevity, in contrast to the other Le Gemme scents I have experienced, is extraordinarily good. I always find it difficult to evaluate the sillage, but what I can contribute is that I can perceive the scent well for up to 10 hours. For that, 2-3 fine sprays are sufficient.

Rubinia is more a scent that evokes well-being for me than a perfume. So I do not even know if I would wear it in everyday life, during activities, or in company. In any case, definitely not to smell good for others. No, I wear it when I feel the need for deceleration, security, and calm. Then Rubinia provides a comforting feeling, as Gandix has already aptly described in her comment with 'familiarity' and 'balancing-harmonizing.'

However, it is not a sofa-cuddle scent for me, nothing for lounging in sweatpants with a piece of ready-made pizza in hand. Not at all, because the other qualities I attribute to it are a kind of sublime beauty and elegance. Wearing Rubinia, I associate with a well-groomed evening accompanied by relaxing music, where one dresses casually yet carefully, even if alone. Or with a visit to an art exhibition at a time of day when only a few visitors are there and one can enjoy in silence.

When I started writing this comment, I felt I had not much, especially not much new, to say about the scent. Then this line from a song by Reinhard Mey came to mind: “What I still have to say takes a cigarette and a last glass while standing.” Strange how one remembers certain songs from earlier times that one never hears anymore. I then looked up the lyrics and find that many lines from it fit quite well in this forum. I would like to conclude my comment with these:

“… Thank you for the time I've spent chatting with you
And for your patience when there were more than one opinion
For never asking when I come or go
For the always open door, where I now stand …”

A Chalice Full of Happiness and Rubies
I had previously known Bvlgari more as a "purveyor of the mainstream."
When I was wandering through the city again last week, searching for a new scent (my wallet doesn't like it very much, but what can you do..), a saleswoman recommended that I try the Bvlgari "Le Gemme fragrances," and before I could refuse, she sprayed Rubinia on a test strip and handed it to me. Internally, I was already rolling my eyes and thinking, "surely just another 0-8-15 Bvlgari fragrance (sorry to all Bvlgari lovers ;)

I took the test strip and ... and ... and.... was enchanted...!

"What’s it called again and what’s in it???"
This scent smells like a chalice full of happiness and rubies ;) WOW!

Of course, I couldn't help myself and had to try Rubinia on my skin right away...

At first, I could clearly recognize the mandarin... but a creamy and not so fruity mandarin (?) and somehow cherries... Red juicy cherries, something like amaretto... (I know, it’s not in the fragrance pyramid, but that’s how I perceived it).

I’m not usually a fan of fruity scents, but Rubinia is somewhat fruity, yet somehow also "unfruity"... I don’t know how to describe it exactly... strange, but strangely good!

The saleswoman gave me a sample and I left the store...

After a while, more creaminess came through, tonka bean was definitely playing along, and then it became powdery for me! I love powder, and Rubinia is really wonderful... not dusty powdery, but rather "creamy-powdery"

I kept smelling my wrist over and over..

Rubinia smells on me unsweet-cherry-creamy-powdery... incredibly wonderful and very extravagant, something I hadn’t experienced in a fragrance before...

Days later, I tested Rubinia again at home in peace and had the same impressions as during the first "test"... "unsweet-cherry-creamy-powdery"

I thought about the price... 350.- Swiss francs... phew, I’m definitely going to have a fight with my wallet... But I could get another sample? (shame)

So I went back to the store and started chatting with the Bvlgari saleswoman. "Today there’s 15% off everything!" she happily informed me, and then I didn’t hesitate any longer and took my chalice full of happiness and rubies home with me ;) Oh how wonderful, I have my Rubinia ♥ ♥ ♥

Changing, demanding, and definitely too much for me. Initially intensely sweet with tonka, then it gets greener and rougher. I find it exhausting.

Soul-soothing scent. Sandalwood-mandarin fruity, soft, and cheerful. Warmed by tonka. A hint of bitter resin makes it intriguing.

An elegant, understated cream gourmand that feels very balanced and rounded. Tonka cradles the other notes in a soft bed.
