What doesn't fit, will be made to fit
I can hardly associate any company less with sports than Cartier. And among their perfumes, Pasha is the scent that fits the theme the least. The original never appealed to me & is one of those classics I dismissed early on, which perhaps deserves a revision. But first, I had to tackle the discontinued Sport/Menthe Fresh version, which I could hardly imagine, no matter how creatively I tried. Therefore, I was all the more positively surprised by the scent, even though it required some time & getting used to.
In my mind, it was an impossible combination & a terrible mix - and that was exactly confirmed in the opening of the perfume. A menthol-like camphor smell reminiscent of menthol cigarettes, expressed on a woody mandarin. Unpleasant & almost uncomfortable. But that’s just the first impression; after that, the scent quickly starts to calm down. It also catches me again, as I was already about to flee. Still cool & woody, but now clean & away from smoke & chaos. Ice-cold clean sandalwood. Soapy, slightly sweet, but also resinous & very masculine. The bridge to the opulent original is truly taken & mastered. Then it’s over, but 3/4 of the scent is good to great. A pine forest full of dew & fog, on a crystal-clear, cold spring morning. Today, no sporty person would dare to wear this. It has niche quality & boldness.
Bottle: Cartier bottles are a lavish feast for the eyes.
Sillage: moderate climate
Longevity: underperformer - 4 hours.
Conclusion: brings something new to the old sport/fresh line & I wouldn’t have thought that a Pasha could be so cool. And then it gets discontinued... strange fragrance world!
