I remember the day I smelled this masterpiece. I was in Saks 5th Avenue at the Kilian Paris counter. The associate walks up and says she remembers me.
"You bought "Les Heures Voyageuses - Oud & Santal | Cartier" from me." Damn she was right.
"Well have you tried "Les Heures Voyageuses - Oud & Ambre | Cartier"?
She sprays, I smell......I think to myself "but what about "Grand Soir | Maison Francis Kurkdjian" ? What about Ambre sultan Eau de Parfum ? I don't think I'll ever wear those again. Well, I have but that doesn't stop me from making this my go-to amber fragrance. Leans masculine. Lasts 8-10 hours. The oud and amber combo is absolutely amazing! I'm actually impressed with all of Cartier's Les Voyageuses line of fragrances. Most slept on line of fragrances in my opinion.

Genre defining fragrance

Amongst the leaders of the pack when in consideration for an amber oud fragrance. Very minimalist composition the gives a head turning effect to anyone who wears it..Cartier did a great job along with M. Laurent sourcing some of the nicest materials for this fragrance. Hat off. Powerful, opulent and smooth, Oud & Amber sets a new standard of luxury for Cartier Parfums that more than lives up to the prestige of its name. Inspired not only by the lavish oud and amber blend that permeates the composition but cozy woods and spicy accords.

Ok, let's keep this one a secret. Cartier is already overlooked and undervalued compared to the other designer houses Chanel and Dior, but have a rich history with solid offerings. The entire Oud collection is a wonderful example of western ouds that are buttery smooth. With "Les Heures Voyageuses - Oud & Ambre | Cartier" it's more about the amber accord with less emphasis on the oud. Easily a top 5 Ambre that can fit into the discussion with Ambre sultan Eau de Parfum and Ambre Précieux and "Grand Soir | Maison Francis Kurkdjian"
Nobody seems to be talking about this gem of a fragrance and that's just the way I like it.

Luxurious dessert with butter & cognac

It’s a masterfully blended addictive dark amber. Still unisex, not overdosing of heaviness of oud and spices. It’s comforting, warm, embracing.

The most unexpected is the buttery undertone which creates a feeling of luxurious dessert - rich and subtlety boozy. I can see reflections of silver tableware and high end cognac fumes in the candlelight. Old money, high end jewels (Cartier panther or pasha series will do well ;).

In an hour it evolves a bit into sour, more patchouli-animal direction. With the hint of powder. But still elegant, doesn’t get into raw piss association.

And after few hours it calms down into divine natural boozy vanilla.

Definitely for 40+ and well grounded individuals. And too heavy for a small office, you might suffocate your colleagues ;)

Beautiful!

Just smelled this elusive beast for the first time today. I was gifted a generous decant by an official rep. So generous I'm putting it on my "have" list even tho I don't have an actual bottle. The only other fragrance I've done that with is Commodity's Book. I have a sandwich bag full of 10ml samples.

Now, while I well know one can't base their opinion on an atomizer sniff (I didn't want to try it in, hot, humid weather and ruin my experience), I am prepared to offer a shaky first impression: Mind BLOWN!!! Full boom.

What I smell primarily, and no one has said this (that I've read, at least) are frankincense, a lightly sweetened, dry, amber accord and a high quality, smooth, oud.

The quality is in line with Cartier's other ouds, which is HIGH.

As of right now, I'm inclined to say Cartier is my third best fragrance house. Mathilde Laurent is a genius.

As it stands now my favorite houses, in order, are:

1) Amouage
2) Serge Lutens
3) Cartier

I would really be ok if you took everything away and just gave me those 3 houses to buy from.
